I don't want us to bring in Huddlestone. For a start we have Mokoena, Savage and Tugay who can all play in front of the defence along with Dunn and Reid (when he gets back) going forward. Who do we sell? We are playing well and Savage and Dunn together in the middle is working! I sincerely hope this doesn't result in Dunn playing more from the bench.

Further to this, I just don't rate Huddlestone that highly. He is big and sluggish and just about the worst set piece taker I've ever seen. I just feel that he is hugely over-rated. I'd much rather have Savage, Tugay or Mokoena right now and it would leave us extra money to play with in January when we pick up injuries.

Yeah, I like Sav and Dunn in midfield at the moment too. Savage and Tugay are going to need replacing soon though, Reid is injury prone, and then that leaves Moko and Dunn. Huddlestone is the closest thing I've seen to a young could-be-with-training Tugay. He may be big and sluggish but with Hughes and the fitness regime that could well change. As for set pieces...don't let him take them hehe. As you can see, my opinion is to give him a go

One of the players who is most similar to Tugay is Pedro Mendes of Pompey. When Spurs where looking to sell him, I was really wanting us to go after him, because he plays so much like Tugay. He sits deep, takes the ball off the back four, pings passes around the pitch, opens defences up with through balls and scores the occasional screamer. I don't know if he's been playing regularly for Portsmouth, if he is injuried and if he is playing well.

I was someone that was crying out for a creative midfielder not so long ago. But I agree with those who say that Dunn is playing well and with the start to the season that we've had, why change things. My only concern would be if he were to get injuried (which is a real possibility, considering his past), because with Reid having problems and Tugay getting on with age and not able to play in every game, we'd be struggling for midfielders. I suppose that we would just cross that bridge when we came to it.

I have only seen Huddlestone once , at Ewood last season and he looked class. A more powerful version of Tugay, big strong and pacey. If we are serious about him, I suspect it means Reidy is a probably crocked permanantly, which looks more likely by the day from where I am looking.

Nicko, only three days left now-you got any work lined up for September to December? I hear the 3AM girls are looking for some help?

I don't look too good in a short skirt...

ON HUDDLESTONE.

Some interesting news. Rovers tried for him two years ago when he was being loaned out, so there is obviously some admiration for him inside the building.

However I understand his agent is abroad and not exactly expecting a move before the deadline.

It is interesting that so much is buzzing around on him, but I suspect that this is more long-term than short-term.

Still, I am willing to be persuaded otherwise.

Huddlestone has looked a class act whenever I've seen him play. He's got excellent technique, his passing range is superb and he is possessed of a might shot (see his goal last season at Citeh). My only reservation is that he is one big unit. He has a lot of weight to carry around for a midfielder and could really do with slimming down slightly.

He's never struck me as an overweight guy. Just found a site with his vital stats on it.

Height: 6'2 ft

Weight: 11st 2lbs

Doesn't sound that bad. He's taller and lighter than me :P Although those stats may be out of date, who knows with this internet thing.

the other club after nugent is it reading, i thought i heard something like that this morning???

Portsmouth have offered Sean Davis plus David Nugent on a season long loan for Papa Bouba Diop.

Rosenior is leaving as he had a MAJOR bust up with Sanchez.

I'm not sure they will sell Huddlestone, but do we need him? A fully fit Steven Reid back on form was as good for us.

Well I think they are different types of players. The most important point though is when was the last time we had a fully fit on form Steven Reid? :(

I think Sanchez is starting to believe there is some kind of hype surrounding him and he thinks he's better than he really is. The only thing he did at Wycombe Wanderers was a superb run to the FA Cup semi-final, other than that he achieved nothing. He finally got Northern Ireland winning a few games and now the bloke thinks he's God.

He certainly isnt a Premiership manager of any quality. The falling out at Fulham was only a matter of time. I wish I could get in contact with Charlie (the Fulham fan from FanZone) as I'm sure he'd have a few choice words about Sanchez.

If (and it is a big if) that kind of quality player is available to us, then yes we do need him. An ideal replacement for Tugay.

I wouldn't hold out much hope of getting him though.
