Jason Roberts looked fed up when he scored but I thought his performance was good.

The Fulham thing will be upsetting him, he would make a lot more money and play every week...so you can see why he would look a bit unsettled.

It will be back to the bench for him on Sunday, so you have to have some sympathy.

The trouble is clubs leave their moves too late. If Fulham had offered the top dollar earlier then there might have been a chance.

Still, tomorrow could yet see some more action.

But where do Rovers find another striker now?

Frankly I'd let him go anyway. He's clearly a good mate of Benni and the last thing you want is a "disgruntled" clique developing in the corner of the dressing room. We would still have decent enough cover even if we didn't find a replacement - at least until January. I realise this is naive before I even say it, but after spending a large chunk of last season on the treatment table he needs to show a bit of loyalty and ambition - no disrespect to Fulham but they aren't going anywhere upwards this season

I think Roberts is a disgrace. He spent most of last season injured, had a fairly decent last couple of games when the majority of sides were thinking of the beach....Who does he think he is...?.....Remeber Jason, you were plucked from crappy Wigan and given European football, a fantastic set of quality team mates and a chance to become a regular for a top 6 side. I think he has no bottle and is one of those players, like Marcus Bent who can't handle the long term pressure of performing week in and week out in the Premiership and is at best a decent Championship player. Go on, sod off to Fulham and join their band of championship wallies, then perhaps you might get a game every week despite being a lazy get. Good riddance I say and let Matty move up a place in the pecking order....

We've no room or time for wasters...!!!!!

Fantastic post, couldn't agree more. Roberts was woeful last night. The sulking just compounded my opinion - GET RID.

Maybe it's just me, but has anyone else noticed a "trend" with MGP? It seems to me that he starts each season very "slowly", with a gradual improvement that comes with games played. It appears to take him time to get "up to speed".

Nicko

Were you on radio Lancs around twenty past seven last night?

How Gary Hickson is still employed by that radio station is beyond me. He doesn't have a clue on what he's doing-so much so that I end up turning the station off after ten minutes of listening to him

Roberts was in a huff because in the move leading up to the corner, he was screaming for the ball and didn't get the pass. Nothing wrong with a bit of desire from your centre forward!

:wstu:

So why wasn't that DESIRE shown when he scored, like Bents .......Rubbish!...His attitude stinks and he's obviously courting a move to Fulham. The fact that he motored down the tunnel at the end without any type of gesture to the fans said everything for me. Bentley, whose 50 times more talented than Roberts, showed respect to the paying fans....

I don't think we've had a striker at the club for a while, who is showing such a lack of desire....

The amount of flack Roberts is getting is unreal  He had a decent game last night and was probably frustrated that he didn't take his chance to impress Sparky and score a few goals. This is a player who would be very handy to have as a squad player as the season goes on and a player who was beginning to come good towards the end of the season.

I for one hope he stays :tu:

Would be quite happy with Defoe to be honest. Thought I cant see Benni going to Man Yoo

Seems unlikely, but I'd be quite happy if it did happen. He's younger and would add the pace that we need. I'll be very happy if Benni stays, but if that is the result I won't complain.

Sorry, that was a knee jerk reaction.

Both MGP and Bentley used to be in the category of the opposition giving them one solid hit and that was the last you would see of them in a game.

This year, Bents has been a bit off colour so far but he's not been shirking or hiding.

MGP I am seriously worried about- he has dramatically lost form. Was Luton the last game he scored in? Volleys and headers which he was routinely if spectacularly putting away have disappeared and I simply don't understand why his corners are worse than abysmal.

He got booed off by Norwegian supporters in the last couple of Norwegian games for performances George Weah's cousin would be ashamed of- he was that bad.

They say form is temporary and class is permanent. The problem is MGP's form has been so bad for so long, I fear it is now permanent. He needs some sweet running volleyed goals and to use quick feet to shuffle past a couple of markers a few times to rediscover what being MGP on the pitch really should be about.

No need to appologise Philipl, I should learn not to post after the pre match trip to the pub. What I meant to say was both Bentley and Gamst are still too easily knocked off the ball, Gamst especially so, he doesn't seem to have the self belief to out muscle his marker. Three times last night an opponent just leaned on him and he fell over, the referee rightly waved play-on. In the Premier League (with Premier League Referees ) some players get free kicks in those situations, maybe that's part of the problem.

I did not see the game but if that is true then it is abit off a step backwards. Towards the end of last seaon Gamst looked like he was getting a bit off steel in his play where he was not so easily knocked off the ball, stood his ground much better, I thought that was good.

I can see Man Utd wanting Benni, the sort of poaching striker they need and probably not too worried about sitting on the bench if he is at a club like United.

Could be a very shrewd move if true? I could see Santa Cruz and Defoe making a very good partnership. Defoe has that pace that Benni lacks...

defoe leaving spurs to someone like blackburn, would push his england chances up, at blackburn he would get games, at spurs he's wasted on the bench..

its just a rumour, but a rumour i would love to happen...

What's more interesting is that it is a rumour that adds up.

I'd be happy if we got Defoe in and sold McCarthy - purely based on the ages of the players. Thought it was strange Benni wasn't even on the bench last night - but then again Hughes did give a resounding NO when asked if anyone would be leaving.
