My daughter (who knows about these things) keeps telling me it is an over-production of testosterone that is responsible for my excessive agressiveness. Personally, although I accept what she says, I have to say I have always found it rather useful and not a hindrance in any way. :D

Nicko, you might not be able to find out but what do you know about the fitness coach we just hired? His name is Damian Roden and he used to be the fitness coach for Bolton..... did he apply or did we poach?

There has not been much reaction to the appointment from our end, or Boltons.

Nicko, any news on Paul Jewell's next job?

Both Preston and Bolton fans seem to think he will be at their respective clubs.

Plus, let us know early enough and we might make a bob or two ;)

Spoke to Paul last week - about a Deaf School concert surprisingly - and his attitude is that he is very happy just now and in no rush to come back. He was offered Leicester City but said no.

Preston have no cash unless there is major money in their proposed takeover, which is moving along and involves Asian money and John Wardle bizarrely.

Joining Bolton would be like trying to keep Wigan in the Premier League again and not ideal.

I think he will be back but it will be in his own time.

Deaf School, for those not old enough to remember, were a brilliant Liverpool band of the 70s who are playing some revival gigs shortly. Happy days.

The reply to that question, when posed to the Bolton chairman, was along the lines of 'we let him go....'

There has been a fair bit of upheaval at The Reebok lately which is no surprise.

I remember in the not too distant past, Bolton's fitness set-up was reported to be superior to Rovers. I don't know whether that was purely on the sports science equipment side or the results the personnel were getting.

Deaf School were one of the first gigs I went to- first time around! What a stunner the female lead was.

Now I'm really going to name drop...but I got Bette Bright's number last year when they played Chester. She put me and mrs nicko on the guest list for Liverpool two days later.

There are probably about two or three people who will appreciate what we're talking about here.

Anne Martin- aka Mrs Suggs?

One and the same. There is a lot of good Deaf School stuff popping up on th net. Check Google.

Gigs at Manchester on Thursday - that's a fixture clash I think - and Liverpool on Saturday.

They should do a video of it, I'm sure it would sell.

The only football news is about some of the kids. May be a development on a couple of significant fronts there shortly. But best kept back until they are resolved.

Cheers to the brilliant inside man keeping me right on those fronts. He knows who he is... ;)

Nicko, not sure if it was you who wrote the small piece in the mirror about Samba but do you know if the contract has been offered to him or are they still negotiating ? Any idea on the length of the contract ?

I hope he is back on Sunday, if he is I would give him the captains armband until Nelsen gets back.

Hughes has signed some top players in the last 3 years but this guy could be one of the best defenders we have seen in a Rovers shirt in my opinion.

Yes, it was mine.

The talks are ongoing, hopefully they will be sorted soon. But negotiations take time.

I believe the big chap is hoping to play on Sunday. He will be needed with Ryan Nelsen being out. I think those two are probably your key men.

I'm a bit worried about the Portsmouth game if you go into it without the Twin Towers.

nicko, any news on steven reid??

how samba and nelsen have come to a combined fee of 400k is beyond me....portsmouth away from home are very poor, we need a very good performance, portsmouth will fancy there chances after a very poor showing in greece, but each and every single player have to show why they deserve to be in th team...

I guess we will see a quite different team out on Sunday. McCarthy out, Derbs or Roberts in; Nelsen out, Samba back in; I can easily imagine MGP being dropped after being taken off early against Larissa (Dunn out left, Tugay and Savage in the centre); Mokoena alos offers Sparky an option to shore up midfield. Bentley although underperforming is safe I would say at present as his good form is more recent than Pedersen's. Its a shame because part of the reason we have done so well is that our side was relatively settled so hopefully the changes will not be too disruptive. The three players we are built upon at the moment are Freidal, Samba nad Nelsen so its bad news - although perhaps not suprising knowing how football goes - that two have been out injured.

Hows Reid's fitness? As far as midfield goes there will be real competition for places when he is back, not least because he can cover the right wing very well. Shame we don't have a third top quality centreback. Ooijer with his pedigree should provide that yet he only impresses in patches.

All of our first XI players have had good spells so far, consistenly good in some cases - with the notable exceptions of Pedersen, Bentley and McCarthy. Those three need to fire- particualrly the wingers as we lack replacements- if we are to maintain our great start.

There's a pretty good Rovers story in the Sunday People tomorrow. It's about a kid who is joining the club with a very interesting background and personal history.

He may be known to some of the diehards who keep an eye on the youth set-up, but it has suddenly become a bigger situation.

It's a good 'human' tale too and I think we will hear more about this lad and find out even more about him...one way or another.

I'm not giving any clues away and it's not a tease.

But it has taken up most of my time for the past few days and I want to see it in print first.

If there are any questions later - and I think there might be - I will answer them as well as I can.

Will we be able to get links to these two stories. Top Talent at Burnleh? Sunday Funnies?

The idea is to go to the shop and buy it...but in your case I will make allowances.

If it's not on the Sunday People online tomorrow I will clue you up.

The Burnley kid is a bit like a story I did two years ago about some kid at Southampton called Theo Walcott.

I believe your new boy - Bob Zabena Francis - made his debut for the academy side yesterday. If anybody was there I would like to hear what the overall opinion is. He should also be in the side for the academy team next weekend for anyone who wants a look.

The Burnley player is a striker called John Kofi, who is by all accounts an absolute worldie. Man U want him now - and would even throw squad players at Burnley on loan for the season.

Looked at the online version could not see anything, clue us in?
