I'd dearly love to be able to pop to the shop and buy one.

Looked at the online version could not see anything, clue us in?

In brief. Nicko is refering to Bob Zenaba Francis capped for the Congo at the age of 16, now 18 he has joined the academy after a trial in the summer.

Have to love these "wonderkids" how many of them have actually panned out to be the real deal. How many of them just fade away.

There is a lot of truth in that statement. But if you wait until a potentially top player becomes a top player then the price goes up to the £10 million mark.

The worrying point is that there is not a lot of home-grown talent about, so anyone who can be signed young and brought on becomes very valuable indeed. And if you have good environments for kids from abroad, bring them in early let them adjust and be ready for the first team.

You can't keep on pulling off miracle bargain buys like Nelsen and Samba. There has to be a structure to get good kids and bring them through.

The trade - legitimate I should add - in young players has never been more busy. Any good one will immediately be snapped up. Chelsea are going round now at the 14 to 15 age group and taking as many as they can.

For example, the kid at Burnley is being watched by Chelsea and all of the other top clubs. It is so intense that they actually banned their scout from home games to keep the lad 'secret.'

In Burnley's case the short-term plan is that he is probably worth more to them as a sale now and with the advantage of loan players for this season.

Rovers are trying to bring in a couple of top young Costa Rican players, as I wrote in the Mirror today [thanks to a top source] ;)

It is a good idea, one of many they seem to be trying in a bid to improve the squad. But obviously not enough for some.

If you want a definition of smugness from your old pals in London offices of 'high brow' newspapers feel free to click on this link and scroll down to the latter paragraphs.

Next time you drool over papers like the Guardian, remember where the stories come from that they would like to throw their capuccino froth at...

Bob Francis - the young lad from Congo - is a midfield player who likes to break up attacks and make the play. I had the pleasure of meeting the kid before I did the article and he is a determined boy. He has had a few knockbacks before but wanted to come over and make his name. I hope he does and I have a feeling he will.

On the Costa Rican prospects, Borges is a midfielder with a lit of ability who plays for his club side at 19. Their football is usually very skillful, so he can't be a mug. Kendall is a giant defender who stood out in the World Youth finals in Canada.

Rovers are doing a lot of work at this level right now, bringing in top kids from anywhere. It is a sound idea as they can get used to the game and the climate before being ready for the first team.

It's not easy with all of the work permit and passport problems that exist, but if one of these youngsters makes it then it will be a lot cheaper than buying them when they are established stars.

nicko, do you know anything about these players, like what country they play in??, what position???...

Borges is a midfielder and Watson a defender. I'm pretty sure they both play in Costa Rica, at least I think they did at the time of the championships in Canada. I watched a few of those games and Borges certainly impressed, I think all of the games were streamed over the internet and there should be extensive highlights available if someone knows where to find them.

So three youngsters sign up, i think its good because if one of these turns out to be a Samba or a Tugay we will have struck gold. Is anymore young talents due to come in? theres normally alload of Irish and Germans coming across.

If you are talking about our signing the Costa Ricans, according to the LT today we are still tracking them.
