just a guess then:

Olssen for Warnock

Zurab in at CB

Tugay and Axe in at CM

Derbs and Roberts up front

I don't think Emo needs a rest due to his long lay-off after the Asian Cup, I doubt Frediel steps out, and I don't see MGP or Bentley getting a break.... though I could be wrong

Isn't Olsson able to play left mid as well? Maybe put Gamst on the bench and let Warnock and Olsson start, he can't be any worse going forward than Morten has been so far this season.

nicko, you dont have any idea when steven reid is fit do you???

i thought he would of been back for portsmouth game, theres been nothing on him for a few weeks now??

also, is sergio peter fit aswell???

Sergio Peter has just started training...after that knock he took in the reserves.

Poor old Reidy is just taking slow steps to get back. It's not easy when you have been out so long.

Just a snippet on Reidy. I believe he is about two or three weeks from a run-out in the reserves.

So the 'hamstring' problem he had on top of the back and knee injuries seems to be slowing him down a bit.

When you have been out as long as the lad has been then it is a long way back.

Hopefully he will be kicking a ball in anger for the 'stiffs' by the middle of October.

Any early team news for tomorrow nicko ?

I should stress that this is a guess...but I think Dunny may play left wing instead of MGP who needs a rest/boot up the bum.

Matt Derbyshire may get the nod over Benni too, although that is a tough one to call.

Big game - if you have top six ambitions you have to beat that mob.

The table would look a lot better if you did and had a home game in hand.

Any news on the Costa Ricans?

The two players were due to come over last weekend according to Costa Rican sources.

As yet I have no confirmed sightings.

The odd part is that Borges is in the first team already, so I find it strange that they would let him out for training at this time.

It could be there are work permit or visa issues to sort - even for a trial.

The more I hear of Borges the more I like the sound of him. He was also a stand-out in an under-17 tournament a couple of years ago.

The Costa Rican 'source' tells me that Rovers have been in for a while and obviously have an interest.

Young Bob Francis plays for the acadmey tomorrow for those who like to see the kids coming through...

i think we should use the same tatics and possibly the same team we used against birmingham(warnock in for olsson tho), i no it was only birmingham reserves but it worked..having savage, pedersen and mcarthy would be good i think..

and yes, if we want to finish in the top 6, beating teams like sunderland is a must...for some reason tho, i think we will get beat, 2-1..

A dour battle in store. If we show weakness / a dislike of getting stuck in / start with too many flair players we will get beaten.

Good point Theno, playing Dunny out wide and Savage alongside Tugay or possibly Mokoena sounds like a good idea. Derbyshire upfront with Santa Cruz is my preferred option, it's always good having McCarthy to come off the bench too, especially against a side like Sunderland where his class can really show.

I'm sure Dunny can do a good job wide left - at home. Don't think he's got the engine to get up and down - as he WOULD HAVE to, away. MGP for me tomorrow.

I'm not too sure about that Den. I would have agreed with you before this season. However one of the things that has impressed me about Dunny this year is the fact he keeps going right to the end. Against Arsenal and City he was throwing his body into tackles late on. Against an admittedly poor Birmingham he was looking for and wanting the ball constanlty at the end and still looked quite fresh. He's a long way now from that game last season in Europe when he left the pitch on the hour mark blowing like he was about to pass out.

Before you ask...

I haven't heard the David Bentley for Spain rumour in The Sun and I'm not sure that I believe it.

There is an decent little tale about a young player Rovers want to sign in the Sunday People [hopefully].

And perhaps another item or two of interest.
