I think that was in The Sun.

It was also in the Screws last weekend and in the Evening Standard on Monday.

I don't think there is anything new in it.

The fact is that Daniel Levy wanted Mark Hughes and Trapattoni as a 'dream team' before he brought in Santini and Jol. The reason for that was that he thought Mark Hughes would eventually be a top manager but needed an experienced guide.

So, Levy does rate Mark Hughes.

That is the 'pro' side of the story, along with the fact that they spend fortunes and have lots of good players who under-achieve. Any manager would fancy that side.

The 'anti' side is that there are too many chiefs, people in important positions and others buying players for the club. I don't think your manager would like that idea.

In short, I would expect an approach if Jol went but I do not think it is certain the boss would leave.

there are a few reports on various sites saying we are looking at Huddlestone, is there any truth in this nicko ?

Any news on the takeover ?

Nicko has said before we are interested in Huddlestone. Seems to be a fixture in the Spurs XVI at the moment though so I cant see him leaving. He is the sort of player who would massively imporve under a manager like Hughes though.

Huddlestone has been on the radar for some time - as previous posters revealed first, I should point out.

I think it is possible because that area will have to be looked at.

Mendes is a good player too, but I can see Rovers going for a younger man if possible.

i read somewhere matt taylor and harry redknapp dont see eye to eye(looking likely taylor will leave in january), also what about kevin nolan(im not just saying this because he isnt in the first team, but something is wrong, he wasnt even in the 16 yesterday)..couple seasons ago, he was linked with moves to man utd..maybe a change of club could do both players good..

Taylor would certainly be available, but he is still expensive. One to consider if MGP does not pick up and a big bid came in.

As for Nolan, he struggles in a 4-4-2. He definitely needs a change, but Rovers could do better.

The question is how much money will need to be spent in January.

But that brings us back to the old takeover question - and I don't have an answer for that. Yet.

come january i do think we need to spend, we need a better squad in my opinion..

id be gutted if pedersen left-it seems he is always linked away when he plays good and bad..

i think maybe it could be time to let robbie savage go-he probably is good for the dressing room and all that, but i believe if we want to go further we need technically better footballers...

Would Huddlestone even consider coming to Rovers, though? He seems to be in Jol's plans, as he's included in the first XI more often than not. It appears to me like landing Huddlestone is a bit far fetched, and IMO only an option if MGP goes the other way.

Huddlestone has been in and out of the side, dropped at the weekend after the Villa cabaret.

He has been at Spurs for two years plus and has started 20 games in the Premier League.

If he is more out than in come January then he would be a 'gettable' target although there is always the small question of Dabiel Levy's valuations on players. Buy cheap, sell big etc.

I'm not saying he is first choice, but he is on the list.

And by January he might have better chance of a top-six finish at Blackburn than at Tottenham. Time will tell.

From a few Bolton fans I know, Nolan has been terrible this season the decision to drop him didn't come as much of a surprise. Also, this is not the first time he's not really been good enough, just that Allardyce would never drop him in previous seasons. If he's not good enough to get in Bolton's midfield then I don't think he's good enough for ours.

I was wondering the same thing over the weekend.

I've not heard any more on them. I think the invite is open, so it's a matter of when they come in. They couldn't sign until January anyway. I would not be surprised if they turn up during some international break - but as yet there is no sighting.

I did hear they were over last year, so it is a long-running interest.
