Has anyone else been watching the circus at Bolton winkers ?

Gary Speed has fell out with little fat Sam whilst Nolan has been dropped for the last 2 games.

The news about Nolan is interesting as he has been seen with an agent who works closely with a number of North West clubs and it is suggested that he was discussing a forthcoming move, if you are to believe the staff at the Devere Hotel that forms part of the breezeblock.

It is further being suggested that he is up for sale at 3.5 million, this is by winker supporters, who dont want to see him go.

I think there is going to be some early fireworks over in Bolton as Mr Gartside faces a rebellion on his anti big fat sam tactics, apparently they stem from a celebration of the breezeblock or something a few weeks ago !!

I hate Gartside because i think he knew Sam was taking bribes or whatever,

Nolan would never come here he hates us and is always taking jibes at us. wouldnt be suprised if he went to Villa or Pompey.

Speed apparently resigned because him and Lee were arguing about the change of play.

I heard Todd is leaving Derby to go to stoke is this true?

Sounds like Nolan would be available and affordable and probably interested in a move to a club like us. I can't see how he would fit into our system though, he plays quite far up the pitch which is probalamtic for the way we do 442. But then Hughes has done wonder with Dunn's defensive side of the game so maybe he could do the same for Nolan and make him an all round player...

Sort of person I can see Hughes going for if he is cheap enough. Hughes has bought players before who didn't really seem positionally appropriate (Mokoena, Dunn, Bentley) all of whom he has developed and shaped whilst at the club.

Nicko - The estonian centre half (4) is being courted by english clubs, do you know who?

Piroiia plays for Fredrikstad here in Norway, a solid centreback at that level. Nicknamed Piraya when he played for Vålerenga, he's an old-fashioned defender, good defending but little skill. He could probably do a job for one of the bottom teams in the Premiership, but nowhere near the levels required to play for Blackburn.

Don't think so, I would have Dunn over Nolan any day, Nolan was over hyped when Bolton were doing well.

To be fair like most Rovers fans will be your going to be biased without really trying to be.

Nolan is better, really.

kevin nolan-attacking midfielder-cant play in a 4-4-2 formation, because he would have to do defensive duties which isnt his strong point..playing in a 4-5-1 come 4-3-3 formation he will excel and score goals, because he doesnt have to concentrate on his defensive duties(and he has players behind him to do that), abit like lampard at chelsea-he scores so many goals, and doesnt have to worry about his defensive duty because essien and makelele is behind him...

david dunn-this season doing his defensive duties brilliant, can play in either 4-4-2 of 4-5-1 formation...

saying that tho, if kevin nolan was available for less then 3million, id still have him.. :)

Nicko anything on these.....

Paper rumour - Aston Villa, Everton and Blackburn are competing to sign France Under-21 international Sebastien Bassong.

Paper rumour - Blackburn and Wigan are set to battle it out for giant German keeper Heinz Muller.

Also, read your article on Gary Speed today. If we are unsuccessful with a bid for Huddlestone, do you think we could go for Speed in January as a short term option for central midfield (I know it is a complete outside shot, but you never know).

Following on from this, in your opinion, do you think the current board would provide the cash Hughes needs to buy a long-term Tugay replacement.

Muller has gone to Barnsley and hes 29 so why would we want him?

Bassong is a good optiton though.

Speed - you must be having laugh.

I am always suspicious when you see three clubs linked with one player, it means somebody is trying to create interest...and Bassong is a new one on me.

The keeper Muller is an interesting one, he IS very good by all accounts. It is no age for a keeper either. He is big and commanding, so do not discount that one.

Speed is a funny thought, I had the same idea briefly myself. He is still a good pro, but age is a factor. But you never know.

I think the board will make money available, but it won't be fortunes. The equation will be - is it worth spending to make the Champions League?

Frankly the UEFA Cup can be a waste of time - and even cost money. I hope the early start for the Inter Toto Cup won;t come back to haunt you.

By the way, just found out I backed Rovers for the top six on Betfair at 7 to 1 - forgot I had done that in June. Happy days.

Incidentally just watching Doncaster boss Sean O'Driscoll on Sky. He has his initials on his tracksuit top...but seems to have dropped the 'O' - can't think why.

Andy Reid looked useful against the Germans in central midfield for the Irish again last night. Comfortable on the ball, good vision, work-rate & distribution. Would be a cheaper option than Huddlestone...

That is not a stupid idea either. I just worry about his lack of pace. But the boy can play and has now realised he needs to play in the centre. He is no winger.

Thanks for the endorsement Nicko - expected to get slaughtered for that one! Both Reid & Huddlestone look like they might spend a bit too much time in the pizza parlour, but both have bags of ability. I was thinking the same thing however when I saw him (Andy Reid) play for the Republic playing against France in Paris a few years ago in a similar position (also a Euro qualifier that finished 0-0). He's quite similar to a younger David Thompson (circa 2003/2004) in his style of play IMO. Souness was grooming him too (Thompson) to eventually play central midfield for Rovers until injuries (& perhaps lack of staure) took their toll. Maybe the more controlled pace of international football suits him more, but on his day Andy Reid is a class act.
