Yes, Souness did do some funny things!!!....In my opinion, not all of them honest. 6.5 for Grabbi, 8.0 for ferguson, Amorouso?, Boumsong....

My view is that he's a thief and somehow benefited from these deals....

Better watch what you're saying mate - we don't want another Sheffield Wednesday style case here. Boumsong was an odd one though - don't remember us being interested when he was on a free - and then he paid a fortune to Rangers for him when at Newcastle.

Souness' strangest moment for me was the team on the opening day of the season he left. Bizarre at best.

Friedel, Emerton, Amoruso, Short, Gresko, De Pedro, Ferguson, Matteo, Gray, Yorke, Stead.

I remember that! It was, without doubt, the most bizarre formation I have ever seen in my life. He seemed to play three players down the left and Matteo - our left back - in the holding role in midfield. Vratti Gresko didn't actually have a position. Meanwhile Stead was isolated up front because Yorke also fancied playing midfield, and Brett Emerton had to cover both right back and right wing because nobody was on his side of the pitch!

I think we played away at Southampton with Flitcroft right wing and Matteo left!

Still baffles me to this day. Why would you leave Tugay on the bench and play Matteo in midfield? No-one on the left seemed to know what position they were playing.

Let's go back in time - HERE is the thread from that game v West Brom. Worth reading the first page for the superb preview (where are they now?).

The real fun / wrist slashing time begins around page 10 / 11. Guilty as charged.

God we're a good team these days.

Pakistani's, Arabs, Martians, Americans, Russian, French (oh god not the french) Blackpoolians, Indian, Chinese, Singaporean, Australian (I'd expect Jim Mk2 and Chesh would become burnley fans before they let that happen), doesnt matter who they are, Im guessing most Rovers fans wouldnt want them taking over the club, because we fear change.

I dont give a crap what religion/nationality they are, as long as they do whats right for Rovers in the long term, not just an asset strip or money laundering.WHAT LIKE THE BALLY PUB,THE BANK TOP RESTRAUNT,THE CORPARATION PUB TOO NAME BUT A FEW!!!!!

To say just because they have pakistani origin they must be dodgy is like saying, just because they're american they have a horse, rance cattle and own half an oil well, its just a lazy sweeping generalisation without any thought behind it. Phil, you dont want them because they're Muslims and therefore in your mind - evil.NEVER MET ANYONE WITH A HORSE OR A WELL

Maybe they are corrupt, maybe they'll use the club to finance terrorism. Likely? Doubt it, more likely they'll use it to make them money, like any person nowadays who buys a football club.WHAT LIKE AUDLEY TYRES !!!!!!!

Jack Walker is dead, as are the breed of people like him who bought clubs because they loved them, that no longer happens, the best we can hope for is that they're relatively honest and leave us better off than when they took over.WHY RELETAVLY HONEST SURLY IF THERE NOT TOTALLY HONEST THEN THERE LIARS??????????

Right back to more interesting stuff.

Souness was good for the club because he got us promioted, won us a cup and got us finishing 6th in the league.

That outweighs everything else, because he left us better off than when he joined, or are people so blinkered to remember playing in the first division, or how "good" we were under Kidd?TRUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Southampton news from that well known business paper, the super soaraway Sun.....

HEDGE fund SITU is the mystery bidder for SOUTHAMPTON LEISURE, owner of the Championship football club, Sun City can reveal.

SITU, which has £1.2billion under management, had tried to buy Derby County and backed former player Ray Ranson’s bid for Manchester City.

It has agreed to pay £40million for a majority stake in the Saints’ company.

Full article (including Nike/Umbro bit and strategically placed Nike swoosh) at Sun article.

Finger on the pulse Nicko (well that's assuming you didn't write it) or are SITU Pakistani-backed? ;) .

The Southampton bid is a Ray Ranson and friends production and by no means certain of going through.

I don't know if they went for Derby - everybody else seems to have.

But these are not the people I was referring to who have taken an interest in Rovers.

Remember that game as the time I knew Souness had to go. We were pitiful.

I'll always remember the look of bewilderment on all the people at half time in the concourse. Everyone was shaking their collective heads and asking what the hell the formation was.

Was in the days when I wrote in the paper and I was particularly scathing of Souness in the article following the game. Was told later by Paul Plunkett (LET then) that he picked up the piece in a press conference later that week and asked those in attendance 'what does this person know about football? What medals has he won in the game?'

Lost all respect for him after that .

FYI Souey to answer your questions, Nothing and none unless you count a cloth winners badge for St. James's primary in 1982.

I'd love to have Dave Whelan at Rovers more than any of the other candidates mentioned. At least from a fan's point of view...

He was and always will be the next best thing to Uncle Jack.

I don't think he can sell Wigan Athletic - or, to be fair, has made any effort to do that.

He is a real football man and one of your own. But I think it is a long shot.

The trouble is there are not many Rovers-supporting multi-millionaires out there. But you knew that already.
