Coyle being quoted in the LT as having said there has been no approach and no discussion.

Peter Reid- what an appointment that would be!

My hunch is Darren Ferguson.

The Coyle quotes are from a Scottish agency on Friday. You can read into them what you like. The LET is up to speed as usual.

It will be between the two mentioned earlier and there will be a result in the next 24 hours.

Considering the football Godfather who has recommended Reid...I would say that Darren Ferguson won't be getting it.

So the Godfather is steering the progeny away from the dingles- paternal care at its best.

If the Godfather recommending Peter Reid for Turf Moor is the one and the same who recommended Steve Bruce when Dave Whelan sought his opinion, the wily old fox of Old Trafford hasn't lost his sense of humour and is having a chuckle at his neighbours' not inconsiderable expense.

Fergie recommended Cotterill for Wigan - and Bolton - and NOT Bruce. For some reason Dave Whelan said he had pushed Bruce. He only did after they said they had already decided on him.

Now he is pushing Reid for Burnley which is ironic as he was trying to get their previous manager [Cotterill] a job [bolton] while he was still in his post. A true knight of the realm.

Still can't find anywhere to bet on burnley, everywhere seems to be shut on it and has been since thursday

I put a fiver on Reid when he was 10/1 but I’ve heard (from mate who is Burnley fan who knows someone, who knows someone else etc...) that its between Grayson, Phelen and Newell.

bacup blue, I had reid at 16/1 on skybet about 2 hours ago, i know its not a done deal yet but if they've cut the odds to 2/1 surely I could be on to a winner. Only chucked 8 quid on it with a couple on Owen Coyle to cover my losses if he was appointed.

Any news Nicko

When we got Ooijer, it said he signed a 2yr deal with an optition of a 3rd if he plays a certain amount of games, so i think hell be staying, it would be a shame to let him go with henchoz being too old and Zurab being only half decent. Ooijer is a class player when given a run in the team.

He was. Not a bad one either. Think he was at Burnden around the same time as John McGinley.

Doing well as St Johnstone boss now and his side ran Celtic close in last years Scottish cup semi final.

Owen Coyle also played CF for Dunfermline a few years ago when they had a very good team which also included Billy Davis and David Moyes. This would be late 80's and before the ground was re-built as an all-seater. We used to get good gates then and full houses for Rangers and Celtic (over 20,000). Fond memories of beating them both.
