Jason Roberts has handed in a transfer request :angry2: , pretty soon after the team talk at full time against west ham. Lets just say Hughes didnt hold back on telling the lads how he felt.

If that is true......... It's an odd phenomenon but what is it about black strikers that makes em such backsliding gits as soon as they don a blue and white shirt? From my experience our midfield and defence players like Samba, Brown and the Axe we have had no problems or complaints whatsoever regarding attitude (in fact quite the opposite) but after seeing the sulky, fragile temperaments of Dahlin, Blake, Cole, Yorke, McCarthy and now Roberts something tells me to steer clear in the future. Crikey even Franz Carr was such an arrogant knob that he couldn't wait to self-destruct. No manager should feel pressured and intimidated when he feels that he has to substitute / criticise or heaven forbid drop one of them but when the subs number card goes up I feel the ewood crowd metaphorically stiffen and draw breath. By threatening to leave both Roberts and McCarthy are simply attempting to blackmail Mark Hughes. Maybe it's time that all clubs in conjunction with the PFA combined to insert a clause into all players contracts requiring them to pay damages to a club when the full term of any contract is not completed at the instigation of the player or his agent.

that must be one of the most outragoes post ever! what are you? racist? to even suggest that all black football players are arrogant is just horrible. and PFA can never insert that clause as then it would force all players to stay at the club forever.

If a player is unhappy at the club they have the right to say voice their feelings and if they want to move then they do have the right to hand in a transfer request.

If your unhappy doing your job.. would you be going to work being all jolly and happy everyday? no.. you would be sulky and you wouldn't be putting in 100% all the time.

nicko is there any update on the rumours that Dan Williams is coming over to complete the deal by the end of next week? is it true? can you please check on it.

I would love to know the source of that story.

There is a lot happening behind the scenes and the last I heard [yesterday] was that it was unlikely to reach a bid in time for a visit next week.

There have been developments and plenty of chat - not just from Dan Williams's direction - but as it stands I don't see anyone raising the money in that much of a hurry.

Even if a bidder got their funds together I can't see them doing all of the necessary background checks and paper work in that kind of time-scale.

But, I repeat, I would love to know where the rumour is coming from...because there has been activity and a couple of PM-posting chaps on here know that too.

some of the trialists coming over other then the metz player and davids, are they here to train with the main squad, or are they hoping to improve the youth/reserve squad..

what position in midfield is he???

I believe he is a possible for the reserves, to be developped for the first team. He is small, skillful and a play-maker.

This is an article on him - if it helps.

Have you heard anything about the Coventry glitch Alan?

I have alot of money riding on this ;)

Not as much as mr ranson though!!!

The managerial staff and some players were led to believe it was being done today. Dowie was even looking at players.

However as Coventry are in such huge debt - and also have to pay their football creditors - I can understand why there are all sorts of unexpected problems.

No matter what happens I can't figure out how a debt that big can suddenle be managed by a moderate Championship club.

Ranson has a record of failing to deliver in these deals. So, it is going to be a nervous few hours.

There's another trialist in - a French kid called Youcef Touati - who is a gifted midfielder but is also small. It's in the Mirror, but surprisingly not The Sun or anywhere else.

And, for those who worry about these things, he is white. :angry2:

Black midfielders are fine! It's just black strikers that are "backsliding gits"

Isn't he the Pompey version of Gamst though? Great goals (well at some point), sweet left foot, good technically, but doesn't offer too much else other than graft.

I think you've hit the nail on the head there! The only good thing about Taylor is that he can offer cover at left-back too - but do we really need two Pedersens?

Milan Baros and Djibril Cisse are up for sale i hear, anyone thinking the same as me that one of these would be an awesome signing,

Depends on the price - but I think they could do a job for us. I'd probably favour Cisse.

EDIT - Changed my mind - if Cisse hasn't lost too much pace after injuries I think he'd be the best bet.

Baros couldn't cut the mustard at Villa. Quick but finishing suspect.

Cisse has been a disappointment in his career, his reputation as a youngster proved deceiving.

If either of them was practically free, was happy to sit on the bench and were hungry to prove people wrong then fine. Unfortunately I doubt if any of them points would apply.

a couple of players allowed to leave , pedro mendes one of them-he reminds me abit of a tugay-and could be worth a shot..

I would be suprised if we didn't move for Mendes, quality player (although not in the same bracket as Tugay in his youth). Shows how far Portsmouth have come - and how much they have spent - to let individuals like that go and that we would actually be quite interested in signing a couple of them.

I read a report of a recent Marseille game and when Cisse came as a late sub on it passed the one of the most damning comments about a footballer I think I have ever seen in print without swearing- I wish I could remember it as it was a cracker.

I agree with you. These would be awesomely bad signings in anybody's language.

Maybe so, but with a name like that he has to be a North African and from the French perspective that is worse... :tu:

Id take Tribals news as unlikely anyway. Only 1 month ago we were linked with Mendes and Pompey came out and said he isnt for sale.
