I heard you had offered around £4m plus a player from a list....perhaps Woy forgot to include the word "one"

....Now, time for our daily funny...after the Bentley to Celtic story, I give you:

Which part's funny, the Owen to Rovers or the hardworking side? Recently we've been out hustled by everyone.

I think we're being a tiny bit unrealistic about Roberts' price to be honest...

The price range rovers will sell at is £3m-£4m. It has been quoted in various places and most recently in the LET with the additional line that rovers already have a replacement lined up. Therefore he either goes at that price or stays, unrealistic or not those are the cards and they are on the table.

ROBERTS - I don't see him leaving now. It would mean bringing in a similar forward. Worth a look at whether he plays on Saturday and how he does if he starts. If he is sub again I think he would go daft.

KING - big money.

OWEN - silly wages.

usually clubcall gets their info from some other website but im just not 100% sure so i just want to see what nicko has to say on it....

on the part of zamora exchange for roberts... bad business for us and i think it is utter rubish

Zamora is not that bad a player. Watched him for a season while he played for Brighton (granted it was a lower standard) & he was easily the best player in the league. He works hard & certainly knows where the goal is, has a wicked left foot on him. His wages would probably be quite low (compared to most players) & he would be eager to play first team football. Has a great attitude which may now of changed after being at Spurs & West Ham. Has not really been given a chance n top flight. I'd rather him than Rigters!!

I can understand Roberts wanting to go, he doesn't want to be a bit part player & at his age thats understandable, I rate him as a player & think if he is to stay then he should get a run in the team at Benni's expense.

Give me Marlon King ahead of Jason Roberts any day - I'd rather someone who was unproven as opposed to someone whose mediocrity is proven beyond doubt.

If Roberts could finish as well as can sulk he'd be playing for Real Madrid...

I take it that you did not celebrate Roberts's winning goal on sunday and just gave a tirade on his poor finishing/mediocrity etc...

I could not believe it when I read in the mirror today that owen was on circa £115,000 a week, that is unbelievable for a injury prone player. It will be interesting where he ends up as his contract ends next year and he is not a fan of KK from what I have read.

He is obviously a northern boy – so where would he go? I think Villa could afford his wages and it is not a long drive from Cheshire.

My Sources at the club state the Bulgarian has done okay, nothing to shout about and not near the first team yet.

An interesting point raised before about attracting Polish fans to Ewood with the purchase of a polish player. I always see people from different cultures/countries in the crowd at other clubs – we have hardly any people from an ethnic background supporting our club, which is very poor when you consider that 28-30,000 people are from that background.

To be fair though, if it wasn't for Roberts hitting that shot so poorly after such a great run, it probably wouldn't have taken a deflection and gone in the goal.

I personally don't think Marlon King is any better than Jason Roberts and I certainly wouldn't pay £5 million for an inexperienced player to help with goalscoring problems in a top level club. Saying that, the cost of such an inexperienced player just shows why more and more English clubs buy experienced foreigners over English talent. You could get a player half that price who has played constantly in the Champions League and played for a top side throughout his career.

Let's think.....Roque Santa Cruz 3.5m or Marlon King for 5m........hmmmmmmmm

To be totally honest - I p*ssed myself laughing. It was hilarious - the best touch of the run to take him away from the defenders came from a Bolton player! And the much-delayed shot (which could easily have been charged down) deflected TWICE before it hit the net. Don't get me wrong, I'd have been happy if I scored that goal, but I think the nature of it (last-minute winner in a derby) is causing some people to lose a little perspective on the "talent" of the guy...

Jason Roberts has got "FIRST DIVISION" stamped on his forehead.

Sell him, get a midfielder. (That's not Amdy Faye. Still reeling from that news to be honest.)

Jason Roberts has got "FIRST DIVISION" stamped on his forehead

Stats

His career stats tend to back that up. He does very well in the FA/League cups against lower opposition, but when in a premiership team his goals to games takes a dive. He does have a very good ability to hold up the ball but his shooting ability doesn't match. He is perfect for a 4-5-1 team who need the ball holding up every game(notlob).

I though Benni played well on Sunday and I can't see Hughes leaving RSC out but Roberts was superb when he came on against Bolton.

Roberts has more of an impact of the bench than Benni so I reckon Roberts will go daft on saturday !!

I feel sorry for him because he has done well when he has played, I just hope he doesn't do anything stupid like refusing to be a sub.

I'd take Roberts over King. Don't remember a Bolton player touching the ball. I thought it was a pretty good goal myself.

The main kick forward came from a recovering notlob player. To then add to that the shot took a deflection off the defender. Great run and he deserved the luck.

King had a very good record before his injury but has gone very quiet since. £5m is over the top but as mentioned prices always are when english players are involved.

I think it's a bit sour. The guy wants to get involved and has more money and interest than anyone else we know about.

His prospective partners all backed off because Rovers is not a money-making exercise. Yet, as I understand, his interest is still there.

So, we either moan about how there is no cash to spend in the foreseaable future and come to terms with Trustees who want rid or we think of a solution.

Frankly, it makes little odds to me although it would be nice to write about big-money buys etc. And, from the club's point of view it could mean they had a benefactor who isn't running off with the family jewels if there was a workable partnership.

It's just a suggestion.

It's a bloody good one Nicko. Ignore Theno, he probably got out of bed on the wrong side today. :D

This is so bloody obvious....you and Dan get your combined fortunes on the Dingles to go up and hey presto, buy Rovers and fuel our Top 4 push...come on it's so simple!

(Anyone have a problem with Burnley coming up if it got us the money?)

....do I smell a People exclusive Mr Nixon?

It might be better and safer to get their combined fortunes on the Dingles not to come up!

Heh, Robert's goal was a good goal for Jace and the club, but a picture of technique it was not. He tired to shoot across the goal, it hit the defender's foot and came near post, wrong footing the keeper, who still got a weak touch to it, but not enough to keep it out. The run wa also nice, but They were caught out a little bit, and again, it wasn't exactly trickery or skill, it was push it ahead and barge it down.

He's a great sub, not wanting him to start over Benni or Roque any time soon, he's miles behind in the class department. He's a midly more talented Kuqi.
