Not drunk I'm afraid!!

I'm not too keen on Beattie, think it'll be another Jeffers, only this time we'll have to pay a fee. Unfortunately we let Beattie go, he has had his day at Southampton & Everton & can't see him recapturing that goalscoring form. If I were manager I'd play Derbyshire or Roberts in front of him, so therefore, Kluivert would be a better choice as he'd cost nothing. I know Kluivert is at the end of his career but he could play in the lesser important games.

Grrh read what I am saying about Beattie.

As for Kluivert, you HAVE been on the absynth for the past week my friend.

FREE= whatever wages any stupid dote is willing to spend on an over the top egomaniac

You serious, Kluivert coming on and playing a bit part in the lesser games????????????

Don't underrate the side, in Friedel we have one of the best keeper's in the league, he is outstanding. Nelsen & Samba are both pure class & I can only see them improving as they adapt more to the English game. Warnock was a very good signing & should imagine he will be knocking on the door for an England call up. Pedersen is a top player whose crosses are lethal (imagine if we had Crouch up front with Morten's crosses) & Benni McCarthy is a proven goalscorer. David Bentley is improving all the time & fully deserved his England call up, shame McLaren didn't put him on. Steven Reid if he stays clear of injury will be key this season & is a fantastic player. Therefore, I feel we are only three players away from a side who are more than capable of achieving top six. A more suited right back, a central midfielder & another top striker are needed in my opinion. The players I haven't mentioned, ie, Savage, Roberts etc are all great players but not outstanding. The eight I mentioned, Friedel, Samba, Nelsen, Warnock, Reid, Pedersen, Bentley & McCarthy are the main core of our side, just a few additions & we can be up there with Spurs & Arsenal this season surely.

I'm just glad that we're not in for Smith. Now if only the Beattie situation could be put to rest... I'm far from convinced that he represents value for money at £2.5 million. Buying Zamora makes no sense when we have Roberts, and Kluivert is not the type of player this club should be going for. We're better than that, surely!

Zaragoza are roughly equivalent to Blackburn within the Spanish league (although I reckon we're better than them). They finished 6th last year, so they're in the UEFA cup - but we should be in there also (barring some Euro blues). He's young enough and he's been playing for a top club, so anyone he joins will be a stepping stone. He'll be looking for a CL club in whatever league he ends up in. I don't think he'd want to go to Porto, though. He's already mentioned that he wants to play in England so that's a bonus for us. We could probably match (if not top) anything that Zaragoza could offer in terms of wages.

It's down to him I reckon. And if I'm right about the stepping stone theory, then he'll come here. I think that he would be a valuable addition to the squad as he's relatively young, is talented (even if it's never quite happened) and is something different. Also, the ladies will be all over Ewood :) Speaking of which, did you see his webpage? Doesn't half think a lot of himself, does he?

Edit: should have posted the link to his site. Here it is

All I am saying is that Kluivert will cost nothing to sign, we take him on a years deal & his experience in Europe will help us, if he gets greedy over a contract he can go elsewhere, Beattie will cost us 3m & lets face it, if David Moyes rated him why would he sell, with Everton in Europe & Andy Johnson injury prone?? He, just like Jeffers had, has lost his scoring touch. If we are going to buy then why not Alan Smith, Bobby Zamora, Mido, etc. I consider Beattie no better than Kluivert, his best days are unfortunately behind him. He had some fantastic seasons, however it was Southampton & Everton who benefited. We sold him & ended up with rubbish like Davies, Ostenstad & Blake. P.s. I have had no alcohol since sunday!!!!!!!

City have just signed Martin Petrov for 4.7 million subject to a work permit. Anyone know if this guy is any good?

mate of mine works at city, acadamy chief, and he says they are also looking to sign manuel fernandez.

sven's clearly not interested in signing british.

Where did this Kluivert nonsense come from? The fact that Sheff Wednesday expressed an interest in signing him on loan? The man is a liability. He was once a very good player, hence a CV with Barcelona and AC Milan on it, but he's lost the plot now. He made plenty of money and has no desire any more.

Sports news on TALKSPORT mentioned earlier that Blackburn & City would battle it out for Santa Cruz. Nothing we didn't know already but maybe a decision is to be made soon. Just wish they would hurry up & sort it. Also is anyone else fed up with sports bulletins & the papers being dominated by Tevez & Heinze?? Its getting boring now.

I used Kluivert as an example of how we could pick up a 3rd or 4th choice striker for free rather than waste £3m on Beattie who in my opinion would be behind McCarthy, Derbyshire & Roberts. I didn't mean that we should rush out & sign him. Purely an example. If we are going to spend then we should be buying someone who can go straight in to the side ie Santa Cruz or Bobby Zamora & also they are still young, rather waste it on a player who is out of form & will end up another Jeffers. Wish I hadn't mentioned Kluivert now!!! Robbie Fowler had he not signed for Cardiff may of been wiser??!! Or am I digging myself further in!!!!!!!!!!

Digging further! I would not want either Kluivert or Fowler anywhere near Rovers. They'd be a more expensive version of Jeffers.

JUST SEEN THIS..... MAYBE THE MOVE IS IMMINENT

http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/26072007/4/r...-exit-door.html

"Bayern Munich are close to selling reported Blackburn and Manchester City target Roque Santa Cruz after the striker was left out of the team for a League Cup tie.

The Paraguay forward is surplus to requirements at the Allianz Arena, but might have expected to get a game against Stuttgart when Miroslav Klose was ruled out through illness during the warm-up.

Instead, Bayern coach Ottmar Hitzfeld selected 19-year-old rookie Sandro Wagner to lead the line, effectively sealing Santa Cruz's fate.

Club president Karl-Heinz Rummenigge admitted that the 25-year-old will be on his way.

"I expect Roque to have left us by the weekend," he told Premiere television.

"That is the reason he is not playing. Porto and a couple of English clubs are interested."

Blackburn and Manchester City are rumoured to be the clubs in question."
