I must be going soft...but what the hell.

It's Sheffield United. Crazy but true. They have the money and want to buy him to get them promotion.

From what I gather theirs is the biggest bid by a street and it's down to the player.

Now, nobody saw that one coming.

If they want a strike partner for him I hear Francis Jeffers is available!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let me guess it must be that big Club in the midlands........................It has to be Bruce, only he goes for anything which is x-Rovers..........(Taylor,Kenna,Johnson,Sutton,Dunn)

Nicko any chance of you finding out who the Other Mystery Trialist is beside Djeziri, seeing as our Andy"as I understand it" Neild does not know?

Who are the 2 on the main striker list IYHO?.......... .questions,questions..................................

The other two strikers could be two from several...but I would think Henri Camara is one. He is bombed out at Wigan. For some reason he has gone to France for some treatment. On a bruised ego perhaps.

Camara is an enigma. He is probably the fastest thing in the Premiership but he has yet to find the perfect club or partner. He is a very shy lad and does not speak much English. If he got the right service he would score goals.

I think the short list is getting shorter. But, as John Williams seems to have told fans , there should be action by the weekend. That tells me we have been right to bang on about Roque and Beattie until our eyes spin and our noses bleed.

Options are pretty thin on the ground out there, but it should be stressed that an extra striker is not an absolute necessity but just a good and sensible idea.

It just seems that the strikers we have been linked with are fairly average.

Maybe that is the risk we have to take and hope if Cruz is bought he adapts and is not labelled dud/flop of the year (like he was in Germany) or if its Beattie, hope he can stay fit for more than two weeks.

I must say, I am really excited about our possible new striker......

I'd think I'd rather rather we didn't waste any money now on outright gambles like Beattie or Santa (4 goals a season) Cruz and sit tight in the hope a credible takeover goes through so that we can then spend some serious money on a couple of real top quality additions.

I was expecting us to add someone of real quality to the side this summer, not a player well past his best or a guy who has scored thirty odd career goals in eight and a half seasons.

Thing is we don't desperately need a striker and I thought Hughes said he was after an experienced one..

Worst player

Roque Santa Cruz. Dangerous like a toothless tigress, pacy like a Fiat Punto with flat tyres, strong-willed and powerful like a stoned earthworm.

I half agree, don't think we should waste money on a gamble. However, if we don't sign anyone, I think we may struggle & by the time the window re-opens we could be out of europe, out of the league cup & struggling in the league. I don't think we will get in that situation, but if we are going to spend, lets spend wisely. What happened to the £30m the clubs were getting?? Two players I think would be good signings are Kevin Nolan & Leroy Lita, they have both been rumoured with clubs this summer. Or Peter Crouch, why not a serious bid for him?? We have the best crosser in the league which would compliment Crouch perfectly?

The wisest / best money that Hughes has spent has been on players who were considered 'gambles' when they arrived.

Rovers are in quite a strong position here, in a funny kind of way.

Santa Cruz has to pick a club shortly and knows that Rovers have an alternative.

And Beattie is now available at the right price, although that is slightly more than the club wants to pay.

It's funny how things work out.

Timing is everything. And in this case patience could pay off.

Whether they are universally popular or not Santa Cruz and Beattie seem to be the options and what the manager wants. So signing either would go down as a success. Signing neither might leave you a bit stretched.

Roque Santa Cruz - is due to talk to Rovers any time now. Bayern told him he can go. The Zaragoza story was wrong. It will probably be down to Rovers and Porto. I think Man City have got bored and looked elsewhere.

has he flown over to england yet for talks with rovers :rover:
