There is a bit more news...on another player.

The second trialist is an American kid, training with the reserves.

If anyone has a name - oe even a club - it would be gratefully recieved. There is a Sunday People to write.

I believe the young Dane Djeziri has not looked out of place. I don't know how he will get a game to play in. No doubt behind closed doors...unofficially of course.

Could be this fella. Looking for a move over here, young, American and a number of clubs interested:

Danny Szetela

American? Someone mentioned Eddie Johnsons name somewhere either today or yesterday, could it be him?

He's a striker though. I don't think we need another striker, especially if we manage to sign Santa Cruz.

Besides, I can't see it being an MLS player on trail as they are in the middle of the MLS season, hence I'd guess not Adu, Altidore, Johnson, or Szetela even though I think those 4 plus Feilhaber and Bradley will eventually be decent players in Europe somewhere.

I'm guessing it'd be a college guy who has been through the ranks of the USA developmental squads.

Midfield.

18-19.

With the reserves

Probably a college kid, but would need to have an EC passport.

Still checking...

Sure its not Szetela?

Polish Passport, turned twenty last month, midfield, I think he is in Europe at the moment.

If it was that would be good. He is highly rated.

hrm, that leaves out most the players I'd be very excited about, seeing as they are either 20 or not midfield.

I did run across a story of a kid doing a "learn across the pond" type school and sport exchange which made a mention of him "training" with Rovers. he's got a fun name if that's the one... Evangelist is his last name, and he is 18... know nothing more than that about him though.... as he doesn't appear to have been "in the program" for the US MNT youth squads, which doesn't mean a whole lot, really.

If it was Danny, that would be quite a coup to get him in.... has the potential to be a versitile box to box type midfielder, with some vision.

And actually he's still listed as a developmental player, so it COULD be him, but he played in the states on the 22nd...

I can imagine a Hughes "medical"

[Hughes] Here we go, tell me if this hurts.

{Hughes kicks player in the arse}

[Player] Ow!

[Hughes] Lets try that again, tell me if this hurts!

{Hughes kicks player in the arse harder}

[Player] Ow!

[Hughes] Lets try that again, tell me if this hurts!

{Hughes kicks player in the arse harder}

{Player grimaces} [player] No!

[Hughes] Welcome Aboard, son!

Does anybody else remember Sparky kicking le saux(if memory serves) up the arse, when he was through on goal? :lol:

Call me pessamistic.But i'm getting worried about the players we sign.

At the moment The Premiership is the best league in the world with buckets of money being thrown at players.

But after we had Bellemy for 1 season.The we got Benni and after his first season says he'd love to play for mourinhio again.And now it looks like Santa Cruz is comming.

Does anybody else feel like these players are using Rovers as a shop window?

Yes. But if a striker comes in for £3m, bags 20 goals, we can sell him for £6m, and then buy another striker who will do the same the next season. There's no real downside, apart from the disappointment at first of losing them.

It's lively all round.

Man City - chasing anything and everything.

Newcastle - needing loads. Got a belter there for Sunday. No clues.

Everton and Baines is still very live.

Alan Smith and James Beattie getting their heads round Middlesbrough and Sheffield United talks respectively.

:lol: Purely Belter! HaHa!

funny film. Was originally made as a Hull City film years before, but didnt make it big, because Hull City are nowhere near as big as Newcastle, so they re-made it with Shearer in ,lol! Useless fact there :tu: I went to college with a girl whose uncle wrote it.

Hughes has stated that he's happy with his options, other than Jeffers, who he has stated can leave, I don't think Hughes has any interest in letting anyone go. Pleasure 'stated' that there could be bids comign in for Benni but, that's to be excepted, we are a small club and he played well. Doesn't mean we have any interest in selling, and of course Hughes has stated we have no desire to sell either one.

I think he is correct though. Whats the point bringing in players that wont better what we have. Fulham are a classic case of this.

An excellent point, Cocker. You reminded me of an article I read about Sanchez's spending spree a little bit earlier: "Lawrie's less-than-magnificent seven".

Rovers are also linked to Eddie Johnson(USA),The Rams also want him...............................

Johnson has already rejected a £1.75 million move to Derby (probably a bit pricy for him, but in this market it's actually somewhat reasonable). I think he's more suited to play in Portugal anyway.

That would be quite a coup, but I somehow doubt it. I honestly wouldn't mind seeing either him or Haested; someone to get some games this year and eventually take over when Savage and Tugay move on.

This might interest you; it's what lee said on the offcial forum. He's the guy who works for Rovers and witnessed Hughes' conference this morning. Here's what he said

Hughes reiterated this morning, when going through the respective talents of each of his strikers, that Santa Cruz would be brought in in addition to the four frontline strikers (Rigters, Derbyshire, McCarthy and Roberts).

He did admit that his arrival could mean a departure, but he insisted that it wouldn't be one of the four named above.

The BBC were a little selective with their use of Mark Hughes quotes on their website story this morning in relation to this.
