"We are always happy to help are good young players move on, once they have reached the level that they can no longer progress at."

Taken out of context, that's not really a clever thing to say when you're trying to negotiate a price as a selling club.. ;)

The chairman did not mention any names, but you can join the dots.

I think it's a good idea and it started with Ryan Nelsen being handed a new deal a matter of months after his previous one. That was a Sunday People scoop too for those who check these things.

Good to see the Danish kid has progressed. Fair to say that was another.

As I have said before, I really don't give one whether I am liked or not. You don't go into journalism to win popularity awards.

If I found out today that Chelsea had offered money for Benni I would be the first to write it.

So nothing has changed that way.

The bottom line is it is good to know what your 'readers' think and if I can fill in gaps that the nationals leave out then I am happy to do so.

It's enthusiasm that keeps the game going - on all levels.

I know there are some dyed-in-the-wool conspiracy theorists out there re the takeover and that is really for them to get their heads round.

As for me...he who laughs last etc.

..is the one who didn't get the joke?

The guys who backed Smith for Everton on my 'tip' should put a saver on him joining Newcastle now...please.

Just out of interest, where can you even bet on that sort of thing? Do you just turn up at your local friendly bookies and ask them?

If you check back about a week or so some people found a website somewhere.

Seek it out, don't go daft, but Newcastle would now be strong favourites I believe.

Everton won't pay the wages.

And he has never been keen on Middlesbrough despite the best wages on offer.

Or use betfair - and lay him joining Everton. Im fairly sure its listed on there.

Anyone wants to join I have a free bet code knocking about somewhere. Just PM me!

I'm pretty sure it isn't on betfair - and the other site taking bets stopped the day it came out in the papers about the Everton interest.

Nicko, dont feel like you have to defend yourself. The people giving you grief are doing so because of some underlying personality problems.

You are doing this message board a great service by providing quality information in an appropriate manner. I dont see why people could be against it. It makes me weep, it really does.
