FIFA - Can't believe COUSIN deal was blocked when others have played for three clubs. That means FAYE won't move either. Or the MARCUS BENT rumour that had my head spinning more than Leeds United's events.

FIFA Quote today:

"From Fifa's side, the case is still pending. No decision has been made yet."

I hope they let this one happen, £3m for him is to good to miss out on.

How good is Lafferty, I've not really seen him play before.

I heard that Alan Gow might be offered as Part-ex. Good player from what I've seen, not had the chance at Rangers yet.

Surprised Riordan hasn't been snapped up yet, I think he would be able to do a job for someone. Maybe even Rangers, but can't see that one happening.

I did not realise the McDingles were playin tonight. Good result for nobbers, looks like WBA have hit a sour patch right before the dingles. 'Kin we'll be hearing all about that if it happens.

You were at the nobbers game then nicko. You scouting for Coyley McDingle now?

Funny you should say that...West Brom do play Burnley on Saturday and that will be a good game, two sides who want to play.

The Championship is wide open, which is the point I have made all season. Anyone signing well now can go all of the way - and I mean top two.

And those who backed Coventry to go down - with or without administration - may be smiling just now too. I hear Dowie is on limited time.

You were right nicko sounds like Rangers have offered £4m plus Gow for Lafferty - way over-priced.

Still think we'll get Trotman

How many managers/chairmen do you hear say nobody will come in, only to get someone in at the death.

We have to wait.

The Argie for McDingles?

FIFA Quote today:

"From Fifa's side, the case is still pending. No decision has been made yet." ONE OF THE TOP GUYS ON THE APPEALS COMMITTEE HAS STEPPED IN AND SAID THE PLAYER'S RIGHTS SHOULD BE LOOKED AT HERE...AT TIMES IT HELPS TO HAVE A GOOD AGENT AND SO THE MOVE MAY YET HAPPEN.

I hope they let this one happen, £3m for him is to good to miss out on. AGREED.

How good is Lafferty, I've not really seen him play before. POTENTIAL. THERE ARE NOT MANY GOOD YOUNG PLAYERS ABOUT.

I heard that Alan Gow might be offered as Part-ex. Good player from what I've seen, not had the chance at Rangers yet. COYLEY KNOWS HIM FROM FALKIRK DAYS. IT'S A POSSIBLE...

Surprised Riordan hasn't been snapped up yet, I think he would be able to do a job for someone. CELTIC ARE HARD TO DEAL WITH, FUNNY THAT THEY ARE NOW GETTING SOME OF THEIR OWN MEDICINE OVER LAFFERTY.

Maybe even Rangers, but can't see that one happening.

Rovers are sitting on their hands.

As for the McDingles, hoping for one more today and possibly two by tomorrow. There are other loan options after the 'window' shuts.

Rovers sitting on their Cheque books more like.

More loans for the McDingles? what are they trying to "borrow" promotion as opposed to buying it? 4 Million for Lafferty, unbelievable a Dingle fringe player for 4 mill, if that is a sign of the market I just as soon we keep the wallet closed this window.

Still think we'll get Trotman. THE DEAL IS THERE TO BE DONE, THE INQUIRY WAS MADE, BUT STILL WAITING ON A FIRM BID. THERE'S NO BLUFFING GOING ON HERE. TROTMAN WAS AT PRESTON YESTERDAY AND WILL BE TALKING TO THE OTHER PREMIER CLUB TODAY ALL BEING WELL.

How many managers/chairmen do you hear say nobody will come in, only to get someone in at the death.

The Argie for McDingles? ONCE IT'S DONE - OR NOT DONE - I WILL TELL YOU THE WHOLE TALE. IT IS QUITE STAGGERING WHAT STUNTS SOME PEOPLE PULL. IF IT GOES THROUGH BURNLEY HAVE PULLED OFF A GOOD ONE AND SOMEBODY DESERVES A MEDAL...

Great stuff from a team aiming for a top 6 finish if true.

Indeed. I didn't think that our squad would be strong enough to compete for a top 6 finish after we failed to address the central midfield issue in the 2007 summer transfer window, and I find it depressing that we can't afford to get some decent players in when we're quite clearly ridiculously short on quality in said position. Let's pray that the injury-plagued duo that is Reid and Dunn will stay fit and regain form, so that we don't have to rely on Aaron Mokoena (who, after a decent spell in the last half of the 06/07 season, is back to his usual, mediocre self) or a 37-year old Tugay that has been sub par for us this season.

I think the chairman is looking on the gloomy side - so that ANY signing would be greeted by street parties and open-top buses.

If there are no arrivals then it is a shocker. It would only confirm that the Trustees are not putting more money in - despite the noise coming from their fan club members - and that the running costs/debts are what have helped putting bidders off.

And, by the way, a loan transfer is a legitimate transfer.

Remember David Bentley?

Looking forward to the "last dance at the disco". What are sparky's previous hits on that front? Bentley was on the deadline, as was Dunn. Warnock? We do usually get in there right at the death.

Sorry but that is a fallacy. Dunn was signed on the 17th of January, Warnock was on the 22nd. Yes Bentley was signed on the last day back in 2006 but he'd already been playing for us for half a season on loan so isn't like a new face as we're expecting now.

As I said previously the last "new face" to be brought in in the last 48hrs of a window was Olsson (with Bentley in Jan 06).

If anyone can name the last first team new face signed on the last day answers on a post card please? There seems to be a lot of people with the false impression that we are "last dance at the disco" specialists, we're not!

Well no a loan is a loan and a transfer is a transfer. Bentley was on loan to us and then Arsenal let us buy him, simple as that.

It's not like Squatter's rights where if you borrow a player for a certain length of time he becomes yours

Both Cole and the Argie winger will be permanent deals if things work out...so it's the same as Bentley...there's no problem with that tactic.

If Rovers sign a top player on loan tomorrow are you going to say they 'borrowed' a place in Europe?

What's Tevez? What's Mascherano? Loans and rentals are the future. Like garlic bread.

jay bothroyd???

wasnt he signed late on the last day of the transfers window..

some signings are made after 12, so when we got him i didnt even know until next day..

He was a loan (I guess one of those would do now though) and was signed last day of the TW in August 2004. So we have to go nearly 4 years to find the last time we brought someone in on the last day...hardly prolific are we?

As a general rule I always judge a situation based on what people do and not what they say. So from my perspective all the positive and ambitious words coming out of the club, pretty much counts for nothing. Their action on the other hand, or lack of action, reveal a real lack of ambition and the ability to improve the team.

Being a rovers supporter this make me worried about the future of our club, and it's becoming more and more clear that we are in desperate need for some new owners willing to take the club to the next level.

Finding one of them is as hard as finding a good player in a January transfer window...

;) Rubbish in the league but a very good cup team.

Cov are 2 points off the drop but equally a couple of wins and they are right up there again. The good thing is they are playing ok in the league and are still crap. So i doubt it is going to get better and if Dowie goes a new manager will have no ability to bring in players until the summer. It's not looking to bad.

Rovers seem to be asking alot of teams about players and then just watching as they go to other teams. That's all good and well if they get the main target(s) but that remains to be seen in the 1 and a half days left.
