Ince's appointment wouldn't be without risk but he could hardly have done more than was asked of him in his management career so far.

He turned Macclesfield round in near impossible circumstances then led MK Dons to the title in impressive style. He has the playing background to win the respect of today's players and strikes me as the sort of personality who wouldn't take any grief from overpaid prima donnas.

One of our best managers ever imo was Howard Kendall who we initially appointed with very little managerial experience. After being incredibly successful with us he went on to win several League titles and European trophies with Everton.

Also brought in Jim Arnold, cemented a legendary back 4 together and broke the BBE net with a penalty.

I remember that game. I was talking about it with my dad not long back. It was a great season, we just missed out on last day. I think we needed PNE to beat Swansea???

Been ringing around.

Allardyce wants the job, but he isn't getting any encouragement. Yet.

Don't think there has been a club call to Croatia.

Rovers CAN'T be going for bosses while they still have one if you think about it.

Don't see why not, Hughes hasn't extended them the same courtesy.

They must be putting the feelers out though.

No matter what happens, he aint going to be our manager at the end of it so why not?

Rovers are a bit old-fashioned in their ways at times. In this case that is no bad thing.

What if they call a boss, it comes out and Sparky then has a claim against them...because this could get messy.

The only two names as possible replacements that get my juices flowing are Ince and Bilic at this point.

I'm very high on Paul Ince myself. I think he brings an enthusiasm which will be infectious. I've listened to him in interviews and found him quite motiviating, full of self belief and confidence but without the arrogance. I can see him lifting our players and making them want to play for him. Sure there are those that will throw out lack of experience but let's look at, Moyes or our very own (er Citeh or Chelsea's) Sparky. Ferguson at one point too. I think Ince could do a job.

While Coppell may be a good manager my knock on him is his persona, I don't think I have ever seen him smile, he almost acts depressed all the time, makes Avram Grant look like a jolly old fellow. I just can't see him being a motiviator in times of trouble, in fact I think the opposite when things get tough I think he would actually bring players down, perhaps evidenced by Reading inability to turn things around and his losing the playing staff as indicated by Rev. Dunno, tough call for our Chairman but one he HAS to get right first time, I think Ince would jump at the chance too if offered.

Interesting but how quickly would we need him considering that he has his hands full with Croatia for at least 2 weeks if not 3 more then to move to England and see the team and buy players and all that; would it be sufficient time even?

If he is the RIGHT man for the job then we wait, I would rather burn a little time now and appoint the right man than save time appoint the wrong man and be mired in a relegation scrap by Christmas.

you class Paul Ince as a very good candidate?

he's probably the worst from the bunch that are being mentioned. Id rather have Steve Mclaren, Ince has managed MK Dons, yes he got them promoted but he was putting his wits up against Sammy McIlroy & co. Mclaren, sam allardyce have all managed at the top level. Yes mark Hughes didnt manage at the top level but it was a risk at that time, that has paid off. Were in a position in the league right now that any small mistake could cost us. Ask Bolton when they appointed Sammy Lee. The league is far too demanding for us to appoint a inexperienced manager from league 2!

Your first argument really negates the validity of your post. McClaren??

They've called me. Told them I'd be busy for the next few months to check back in October. They were impressed by my FM stats.

This, and the posts mentioning Gibson, reminded me of the guy who sent in his FM resumé to Boro and actually got a reply from Steve Gibson. Wasn't a generic reply either, but he played along with it. And no, it wasn't Southgate, it was some other guy with no experience.

In agreement again. Also, I didn't think Kendall had ANY managing experience when he came to us as he was player/ manager for a while. As we know football history is littered with examples of "inexperienced" managers doing well and top names failing and failing expensively too. The opposite can also be said.

I like INce as a choice and had personally pencilled him in as a candidate long before any of this came about.

I had also mentioned Gary Johnson of Bristol earlier but saw no comments on him, done a fantastic job there.

I was watching Sky Sports last night and it was like reading this thread almost word for word.

Hughes to Chelsea will be good as it makes us look far better than him going to City as we'll be seen as a decent proving ground. It will also give us quick cash and a chance to start again. If he does go there he probably won't sign Bentley, so Liverpool will have to cough up. Roque to Man U for silly money; I'd take it. We need every penny we can get. However I do think it's a case of let's kick Rovers whilst they're down.

If all these 3 scenarios happen we will be a very attractive proposition for a good manager as we'll have boats loads of cash to spend without being taken over. As long as none of the people listed on the betting site someone posted earlier; that looks like a rogue's gallery of has been's and never were's.

If the Ronaldo to Real story picks up wind we'll drop off the radar pretty quickly.

Improved every club he's been at. Got a smaller team (at least in terms of squad) to finish about our magical Hughes in its first season in the premiership.

But you're right, apart from that nothing.

Good attacking football - though the defence worries me.

Copple would do a good job for Rovers.

Those on here who say they will stop supporting Rovers if certain managers are appointed at Rovers show that they are not supporters of Blackburn Rovers football club because they are putting personal opinion before the club etc.
