That the team worked on defending for the last two days, implying, I think, that it was an improvement on Ince: I think Jan mentioned this on 606.

Certainly McCarthy sounds pretty scathing in the Indie article.

So what were we doing when Winterburn was here?

Would like Nicko's view on the following;

Fans caught Ince in the car park after the Wigan game and one (pi*ssed up) fan went too far. However Ince accepted his criticism apparently and fans captured the confrontation on mobile phones. Apparently the audio is perfect the video poor. This seems to have been passed around but not yet posted in youtube. I got told from two seperate sources, one of which saw the incident and one saw 4 fans watching it.

In it the p*ssed up fan rants about all the problems at Rovers under Ince.

Q. Why did you sign that useless tw*t Fowler when you had load sof money from the Bentley sale?

A Ince apparently retorts "Where do you think the moneyt wetn? I never saw it" and the fan says "well where did it go" and Ince replies "where do you think Jersey!".

Ince apparently says he doesn't care anymore (hence the interview), he is prepared to speak his mind, he WILL be sacked in TWO days and there are a lot of issues he is not responsible for.

Q. What about RSQ not trying (If I had a pound for every fan that questsioned he efforts I would be rich!!- graham)??

A Ince; Look He has been a lazy **** for a while. I would have dropped him but John William's insisted how important he was for the club.

The fan rants about Rovers getting beat and the defensive shambles;

A Ince responds The players aren't good enough, Samba and Nelsen particularly have been found out time and again (with Ince's expansive football).

Having heard that Directors were in communication with leading players for a while 'over Ince'. That one source revealed that leading players (Nelsen++) were backing Ince in public but undermining him behind the scenes (with the said directors). That Williams has been Ince's only backer for a while and Ince knew. Williams said he was Ince's only backer and quoted many times one director who said "We have been talking with leading players for a while", "Ince will be out next week". To me this is like the Sherwood rebellion against Hodgson.

It is well documented that Ince's traing methods went back 20 years and were covered up during the summer, but through agents and players kept resurfacing throughout Ince's tenure. John Williams rebutted comments clearly about Ince and technology putting in record that Ince demanded (and got) and the latest and best pro-zone and used it extensively. The fact he was late for traing or didn;t turn up is also reported widely. When he did he was aggressive. One player remarked about a has been England international trying to be the Guvnor at Friday 5-a-sides where his hard style threatened injury to players.

There's evidence that Knox and Mathias were old school. There priority was fitness and determination. In their defence they thought they (and Ince) were dealing with Man Utd players and attacking football, screaming training sessions and pushing the limits of endurance where what winning Premiership football was all about. Except Rovers aren't Man Utd! It was reported that Knox could cause a riot in a an empty telephone box. He as simply determined to 'get in players faces' to make sure Rovers were winners.

There's no doubt under Ince we were poor in front of goal (bad luck bad team selection) and bad at the back ((too much an attacking midfield) and that for all the 55% and 58% possession and territorial advantage home and away, all it did was expose the poor defenders Rovers have.

It seems to me Ince will make a good manager. However he made several mistakes. Appointing coaches with no experience or nouse in handling Rovers type players. Leaving Monday to Friday to those coaches. Bringing his own personality weaknesses to management (5-a-side tackles for eg). Failing to recognise Rovers defence is poor and playing proper football is right, don't do it until you have proper defenders.

Swapping/leaving out players because they weren't perfect. McCarthy. Then realising Roberts is cr*p so dropping him as well and then bringing in donkey Fowler as all his options had been run out. Also playing Matty on the wing as Pederson was discarded (rightly) and Treacy discarded (rightly) but with no proper plan C.

In the end Ince played football the right way, at least in the midfield where Tugay and Emerton enjoyed improved standards and Warnock demonstrated his midfield experience at Bradford benefited him in the premiership. Ollson proved potentially a much better left back as Ince fought with team selection. He probably though Hughes was 'right to abandon ship' with no funds and squad weaknesses.

Losing Bentley (sold), Dunn injury, Reid (injury), Cruz (lacking that X factor of previous season) and maybe importantly Friedal's calming influence Ince never had what it takes to manage Rovers as they are today. Would any manager?

Ince was beset with bad luck, bad management, bad appointments, directors who worked directly with players to undermine him, players who undermined him, coaching staff from the dark ages who let moaning players undermine them....

I would like to see the video.... but it seems Ince was the wrong man for the job...

Graham,

Ince may have been a bad manager for us however we move on into the future now. Big Sams incharge and we look to get out of the bottom 3; not look to who we can blame it on. In a way I feel sorry for Ince that it didn't work out the way it wanted it to.

"There's evidence" and "It's well documented" doesn't put anything in hard stone. I do believe the players wanted it to work out for Paul and coming out in support every couple of days shows this in hard stone unlike your sand theorys.

Finally wanting to see the video of Ince getting shouted at by "p*ssed up" fan as you put it in your own words shows that you are a low life, "p*ssed up" in the head, mentally retarded, unemployed, benefit receiving, pot head.

Do you want Ince, wife and his kids having to deal with the press day in, day out?????

and

Our "family club" having its socially acceptable image turned on its head and tarnished??????

NO I DON'T, EVERY OTHER FAN EVEN THE DRUNK NOW HE'S SOBER DON'T, YOU DO THOUGH???.

MY ADVICE- STAY AWAY FROM EWOOD ALONG WITH THIS BOARD AND PUT A CLARET AND BLUE SHIRT ON. RATHER HAVE NICE FANS THAN "P*SSED UP" FANS EVEN IF WE ONLY HAVE 100 PEOPLE WATCHING EACH WEEK.

YOUR NOT A PROPER FOOTBALL FAN, YOU THERE FOR THE FIGHTS LIKE IN "THE GOOD OLD DAYS"

GET THIS THREAD DELETED MODS OR PIN IT TO SHAME "P*SSED UP" GRAHAM :angry2::angry2::angry2:

Er...no it doesn't mean that he's one of those types at all.

You sure you haven't been on the claret scotchrover?

Paul Ince will do alright at a lower level and when he has more experience, I would expect him to be quite a good manager.

He was undermined from the start at Rovers (in my opinion) as the board and players were split. Unfortunately he didn't have the ability to manage this under the spotlight of the premier league media circus and did not have the experience or resources to change the people, which is what you should do in these circumstances.

Hopefully Rovers stay up, we all move on and it becomes Paul who? As for the video, if it exists then yes I would like to see it. Trying to pretend we don't have drunken and at times over the top fans and then screaming to the message board moderators like a girl it a bit OTT. It's only a video, the media circus has moved on. It won’t shake the world.

Hopefully like the drunkard himself you have calmed down somewhat and can now see you went a bit over the top, being somewhat rude and aggressive and would be prepared to offer Graham an apology.

In defence of the fan who had the 20 minute conversation with Paul Ince in the car park after the Wigan game, he wasn't p*ssed up. He's a passionate Rovers fan, but to claim he was drunk isn't fair.

We got the train from Wigan Wallgate back to Bolton with him just after 8pm, and killed an hour in a pub by Bolton station waiting for the connection back to Blackburn. The only mobile footage was taken by his (potential) future son-in-law, and it doesn't show a lot.

People who played in the 5-a-side at the BRIC the night before the Liverpool game can probably guess who it is!

It's not for me to post on here what was said in a private discussion, but Ince made a favourable impression just by having the balls to have an honest conversation with an angry fan in those circumstances (and telling his sidekick security guards to "**** off" in order to do so).

Would like Nicko's view on the following...

Would like to hear the words myself first, but a great deal of what Ince allegedly said seems to ring true.

If he knew he was on the way out he would have spoken freely.

Fascinating subject - but I would prefer to hear it for myself before passing judgement.
