  1. 1. Should Steve Kean be sacked

Recommended Posts

My prediction is that we'll lose next week and SK gets the boot. The break gives us a chance to bring in a real manager for the run of potentially winnable games up to Christmas. If he doesn't go next week I am almost at the point of writing the season off.

Unfortunately for us I fear we are already doomed one way or another, I'd rather suffer the indignation of being relegated and be rid of the entire set of buffoons running the club at present & start anew.

The journo who did Keans interview last week in independent only happens to be Steve Kean's PA''s son,

As I've just said to Glen on twitter. This is by Nick Harris, the journo that's very close to Venkys (went to India to do a story on their wealth), did some anti Jerome Anderson stuff and is believed to be very very close to Mrs D.

.... why is he suddenly running stories that make SK look even more stupid.

The plot thickens.

As I said yesterday while the players are playing for him and they clearly are he will not be sacked

They clearly aren't. They have won a grand total of four Premiership games in the year of 2011. All of those were against teams experiencing some form of crisis, other than Wolves, and they promptly turned us over at home in our next league game.

This idea of them playing for Kean is anecdotal, subjective and only works if we completely ignore the actual data for the previous many, many moons.

Which is not a very clever thing to do...

They are playing because it's their job. Do you go into work to "work" for your boss? Or do you do it because it is what you are paid for and for your own self-respect?

What i dont get it, is why he keeps bringing up the same fans at qpr and none of the other matches whens have been so vocal

Interesting point.

The support at Norwich on Saturday was absolutely fantastic. I was sat on a gangway near the main stairwell in Block G, and expected to hear lots of anti Kean sentiment, if not from people during the match then at least from people chuntering on their way down the stairs.

There was neither. To be fair at HT everyone was on a high with Hoilett's goal and at FT everyone was in desperate shock. However any anger was towards Norwich fans and the ref, nothing towards Kean or Venkys.

I'm sure that there were plenty of Rovers fans at Carrow Road who have marched, sat in, protested and are very vocal in their dislike of Kean when the environment is right. It's very heartening - for the sake of BRFC - that we can sell out our allocation at the most inconvenient away fixture of the season and get plaudits from locals in the pub afterwards for our great support.

It will be very sad - although it has happened before - if we get to a situation where our away support remains brilliant but our home support begins to undermine the players. In the pub before and afterwards, I was surprised by the level of animosity towards the Ewood-centred protests.

Lots of fans I spoke to yesterday see the protests (and associated media attention) as a total embarassment - and some of these fans are people who want to see the back of Kean. But they also just want to support the team 100% (and in a couple of cases drive 500 miles round trip for every home game to do so).

So I have to say - Kean does have a right to refer to good support at QPR and now Norwich, because the away die-hards have continued to support the team on the road in the best way possible, and so actually have far more right to express that positive support than any internet poll has to take it away.

Heard another 'non footballing departure' is on the cards this week and it's neither of the Hunts !

This might or might not be a surprise.

IMV, if correct, also has the hallmark of Kean's finger prints on it.

it's actually 5, but the points still valid lol

Fair enough and you are right, although 4 of those were in crisis which further reinforces the point.

The players can't believe in him, not with his record. It is the worst record since the Premiership began of any club for any manager who has had more than 15 or so games.

I think Tony Adams still had a worse win percentage but he was sacked after about half the games that Kean has already been given.

For me, it isn't personal against Kean as to why he should go, it is just that I want the best for Rovers. Kean, clearly, is not what is best for Blackburn Rovers Football Club. It has got to the stage where no reasonably intelligent person could argue otherwise. Not with those statistics. It really has been that bad, for that long...

Perhaps he didnt get his pay cheque?

Or perhaps he did his job (unlike some journos who used to inhabit this board) and finally figured something stinks and is attempting to clue people he might have some connection/positive feeling for of the isssues?

Rock on, Mr. Harris.

It is a very strange situation Tris.

But after a year of stumbling from crisis to crisis, protests, dissent, chants were always going to appear at some point, be it orgainsed or organically- remember by far the loudest and most mocking show of dissent was the wholly spontaneous chanting at Kean when 3-0 down agianst City.

Now I think at a lot of other clubs it would have been much more vitrolic and sustained and/or the mananger would have been removed much earlier neutralising the problem.

For many fans, what they have seen at Ewood is a complete no-no to them, 'get behind the lads/club'. But if Kean is removed and we get up the table, those very same fans will be saying 'bloody hell that Kean was taking us down', yet if it was up to them it would have dragged on until it was far too late.

After the Norwich game Kean said:

"I don't think that when you have got guys like Mauro Formica, Ruben Rochina and Junior Hoilett, then it is going to all be about tackles and scrapping,"

"It is going to be about trying to get the ball, play in between players, to get it wide and a two-versus-one situation against the full-back - that is the way we play and we keep going forwards."

"Sometimes with a young team just near the end of a game we might need to see it out a bit better - I was screaming to get it into the corners to try to get a free-kick or a throw-in to run the clock down.''

"Maybe that is something we might have to look at when we do go ahead.

IMO Mr. Kean it might just be prudent for you or your assistant to cover that in your coaching sessions pre game.

The man should engage his brain before putting his motor mouth into gear.

Noted these comments from an ex Rovers' player on Twitter which are in line with what many people think.

paulround22Paul Round @Brownieoak this is a view shared by numerous senior figures within the world of football and journalism. It will all come out eventually.

paulround22 @Brownieoak there is no doubt in my mind that SK was implicit in getting Sam Allardyce sacked. This is not just my view.

I just think that the summation of all this speculation provides the reason(s) as to why Kean's credibility, respect and aimiability seem so low generally, irrespective of his results.

"Before any more Rovers dissidents rustle up placards or scrawl any more anti-Kean propaganda, consider these facts.

Blackburn's last clean sheet may have been six months ago, but in those 17 games Kean has presided over six wins, five draws and six defeats. Hardly the stuff of burning effigies."

Erm... so, being generous and including the 1-0 at home to Bolton, our results are:

W, D, D, W, L, L, W(Cup), L, D, W, W(Cup), L, L, D, L, L(Cup), D

Which is W5, D5, L7, or discounting cups, W3, D5, L6

Edit: And of course, if you wanted to sku the stats the other way, you'd include the 10 results before that Bolton win and get: W5, D9, L12. Stats are great aren't they!

The goalposts get shifted so much, they must be on roller skates!

Based on that, who is Mr. Walters to talke about Propaganda? He's just picked a time period to suit his argument.

Why stop there Mr. Walters? How about over the last 4 games, we have one win, two draws and one defeat. I don't know why we are all so concerned.

6 points from 10 league games this season is the only stat that really matters. But adding in Kean's record and extrapolating forwards.

The media will be glad so see the back of us.

I sent him this reply:

How about these facts for you?

Steve Kean's record:

P 31

W 6

D 10

L 15

Win % 19.35

Or let's go by this season, shall we?

P 10

W 1

D 3

L 6

Win % 10.00

I'm sure you're aware that if you extrapolated either of those statistics across a season it would not be enough for the magic 40pt mark. Perhaps now you can begin to understand why Blackburn Rovers fans are at the end of their tether and have resorted to protests in their desperation to save their club. The owners won't listen to those cries and continue to back a "manager" who is steering them towards oblivion. Steve Kean is a man who has never managed before in his life. He has no track record to speak of, no genuine reason for sticking with him, other than the ties to football agency SEM/Kentaro who are cliquey with the new owners. The problem is that people in the media, such as yourselves, have little love for little old Blackburn Rovers and fairly frequent outside the Top Four. Do you remember the constant inquisition made into Roy Hodgson's tenure at Liverpool week-in, week-out? He was given just six months at Anfield and had a win percentage of 41.94! Not good enough for the Kop. Yet Steve Kean's diabolical 19.35% is good enough for Blackburn Rovers? Why should we settle for relegation? Our once proud and noble club is not here to accommodate Steve Kean's miserable career, even if his buddies in the press would like to think so.
