  1. 1. Should Steve Kean be sacked

Recommended Posts

"Before any more Rovers dissidents rustle up placards or scrawl any more anti-Kean propaganda, consider these facts.

Blackburn's last clean sheet may have been six months ago, but in those 17 games Kean has presided over six wins, five draws and six defeats. Hardly the stuff of burning effigies."

- Mike Walters (Mirror Football)

Haha, I hope the other journos give him stick for that.

Oh my word. There's hysteria happening in all shapes and sizes at the moment.

Hardly the stuff of burning effigies.

One thing I noticed on Saturday was Paul Merson saying how Kean had made a monumental cock-up with his subs and changing the shape of the team in the last ten minutes. Only a couple of weeks ago Merson was sticking up for him on SS.

Interesting point.

The support at Norwich on Saturday was absolutely fantastic. I was sat on a gangway near the main stairwell in Block G, and expected to hear lots of anti Kean sentiment, if not from people during the match then at least from people chuntering on their way down the stairs.

There was neither. To be fair at HT everyone was on a high with Hoilett's goal and at FT everyone was in desperate shock. However any anger was towards Norwich fans and the ref, nothing towards Kean or Venkys.

I'm sure that there were plenty of Rovers fans at Carrow Road who have marched, sat in, protested and are very vocal in their dislike of Kean when the environment is right. It's very heartening - for the sake of BRFC - that we can sell out our allocation at the most inconvenient away fixture of the season and get plaudits from locals in the pub afterwards for our great support.

It will be very sad - although it has happened before - if we get to a situation where our away support remains brilliant but our home support begins to undermine the players. In the pub before and afterwards, I was surprised by the level of animosity towards the Ewood-centred protests.

Lots of fans I spoke to yesterday see the protests (and associated media attention) as a total embarassment - and some of these fans are people who want to see the back of Kean. But they also just want to support the team 100% (and in a couple of cases drive 500 miles round trip for every home game to do so).

So I have to say - Kean does have a right to refer to good support at QPR and now Norwich, because the away die-hards have continued to support the team on the road in the best way possible, and so actually have far more right to express that positive support than any internet poll has to take it away.

I thought our support was pretty poor on Saturday afternoon. Apart from when we went 3-1 up and there was a lot of the "we're winning away" chant going on. Didn't speak to anyone regarding the protests though.

This hypocritical fan bashing really gets on my nerves. Blaming the protests for results? Do me a favour.

Couple of quick questions:

When was the first protest?

What was Kean's record prior to it?

Different excuses, same results.

How long will it be before the home crowd start chanting in that dark Blackburn humour 'weve only won one game' 'we've only won one game' for the crowd to turn and point towards Stephen Kean and chant 'Steve Kean hes only won one game' 'hes only won one game'.

Just wondering.

Kean is looking for a home in Blackburn.

Per Nicko, this means that he is likely safe from the sack. Per me, extrapolating Nicko's recent success rate, this mean Kean's due to be sacked within a matter of days. :tu:

The rumour of the contract ext came out before the spurs game now this, its just someone's (anderson) feeble attempt at trying make protesters think its pointless !

Agree, Kean and Jerome using all their media bumchums.

The last positive story about Kean came from a reporter who's mother happens to be Keans PA.

If he's still around in January I hope he makes better buys than so far. Flops (or non-existent) are Ribeiro. Anderson and Goodwillie. Not looking good (yet) Vukcevic and Petrovic (though some signs of life in brief Norwich appearance)and jury still out on the value of injury-hit Dann. Otherwise Yak ok as a bit-part but not as main man. The only notable addition has been Rochina though yet to nail down a role. Not an impressive roll-call for c£16m (plus agents' fees).

the most frustrating thing about our managerial situation is we have the makings of a really good side, some exciting young players, just wish we had a manager who could make them all click, yes there been flashes of some positive things but just think what an ancelotti, martin o'neil or a mark hughes could do with this side. Reminds me of when we had duff, jansen and dunn, souness was the one who got them to tick and we had some good times under him.

Well we do have a decent coach now so perhaps there is a ray of light, hopefully kean will step back from the day to day stuff a bit.

please help us.

A new chairman or chief executive may also be appointed.

Rovers fans Ian Currie, a former director at Bolton, and his business partner Ian Battersby are favourites to get the call.

In the same way Blackpool were a really good side.

All wind and ****, with no solidity and little PL know how.

It's also handy for them now as time moves towards christmas they can start throwing silly transfer promises around, the next thing it will be 'judge me after january' ffs !

When Samba goes to Spurs in January, they will be able to chuck money at silly players---AGAIN. Without actually dipping into their pockets of course!

Then the new players will need time to settle in!

"Judge us after Easter!"
