Why do they even bother announcing a contract knowing the potential for backlash?

Come to think of it isn't this about his fifth contract in a year or so?

IMO its sowing the seeds so that when they go open with it - after a win or 2 - we all 'knew' already. IMHO the new contract is a done deal that only Kean can screw up by losing most of the upcoming 'easy' run of games.

I thought we might have been spared this week from his BS (he has been pretty quiet during this international break) but I guess not...

I'm sceptical that people like Redknapp, AVB and Terry really think that he is doing a good job there. It's more likely they want Kean to stay so they can get another 3 points next time they face Rovers. The points don't lie, Kean isn't doing a good job, he's doing a cataclysmic job.

"If you look at this season and the way we're playing, we deserve more points," explained Kean in the Daily Record.

"And that's coming from speaking to people like Harry (Redknapp). He told me he felt we deserved a point when we lost to Spurs.

"Andre Villas-Boas and John Terry also came in to see me after Chelsea beat us. They told us what a tough game we had given them and guys like Ashley Cole and Frank Lampard said the same thing.

"I don't think they say that week in, week out to other managers.

"I don't look at this season in terms of trying to salvage something. I think we have a good enough squad to be in the top ten.

"We'll get thought this little period as we did last season, and we'll be stronger and better for it. You always have to take the longer view. Seasons don't last 10 games.

"In one of our last games it was the youngest Blackburn team since 1996. So the future is bright and the owners know that."

How many other managers do you see shamelessly name-dropping like this? It's so embarrassing and amateur that I cringe reading it. It's like something a League Two manager would say after an FA Cup tie, "oh we had Villas-Boas and John Terry tell us how well we played" ... for a lower league club, great... for us, who cares?

I also don't understand the last quote. What does the youngest team since 1996 have to do with how bright our future is? It just means we have a lot of young players, most of whom will move on if they become good enough.

I saw this on the Sky Sports website and was going to post it. Again, you can see that Steve Kean is talking in sound bites for the benefit of the owners. He wants them to know that these guys came in and told him that we should have good more from games, thus getting a bit of sympathy from the owners, who then believe that he must be doing a good job. He goes onto mention them specifically, and how how they know that the future is bright, which is another attempt at saying all will be well if you stick with me. He's brown noising is a sickening attempt to pull the wool over the owners eyes and it's working.

It's spin directed towards the owners. Kean can just say to them that managers of Champions League clubs (elite clubs in the league) have said that he's been doing a good job and that our luck will turn around eventually. I remember Kean coming out with a Fergie comparison recently. In Fergie's case he was struggling and it looked like he was going to be sacked but he turned it around and over 20 years later he's still there winning titles. I have no doubt in my mind that was directed towards the owners in order to save his job.

The owners have limited football knowledge, they won't question what BS Kean tells them.

Six days without a single post in this thread, almost forgot the clownshoe was still our maanger...

Repped for the use of "Clownshoe"

And in the spirit of keeping it on topic I wonder how Kean feels about the swing in the feelings towards the owners?

I've often wondered if he's being kept in a job or if he's actually deluded enough to believe what he's saying most of the time? If he'd had any media-facing training at all I'm sure he'd present a totally different appearance of a man, but I just don't think he's even considered it.

Oh a great little gem from the 365 article refers to Kean as "The Scottish tactician" - isn't that a bit of an oxymoron?

I thought the difference between chatting a bird up and starting a fight in Scotland was that you headbutted the potential girlfriend a little harder?

The next Alex Ferguson.....

I'm not really sure the Cornish are in a position to criticise others mating rituals??

I would imagine this article was sent to all the media in the Uk by the club. Funny isn't it that the only paper that appears to be running it is a paper in Scotland with little or no circulation in Englend.

As mentioned this is purely spin. Steve is brilliant because other managers say so, because he says so etc. etc. etc.

Why doesn't Kean tell us what he has done rather than what he will do.

Agreed--and he only ever talks about the mythical good times to come because he must deflect attention from the present where its a bloody disaster. He's a slippery one is this one.

"It's not what you know, it's who you know."

In more ways than one

There is some logic behind it, having some promising young players who will develop and potentially earn the club a decent amount of money in the future – this was the talk prior to Venky’s owning the club plus lot of chatter about this just after they took over.

Additionally, previously the average age of the squad previously was fairly old/high.

Pity we have Kean trying to deliver this “dream”/mandate. Clearly he spins his verbal rubbish to the owners in order to defend results – and with them not having a clue about football, who are they to argue – remember this classic from the manager at the start of May…..

“There is a cycle of change when any new manager comes in. There is the shock first of all then an acceptance. There is a cycle of change and I think we are coming out of that cycle. I think it just takes time and I think we are nearly there.”

I hate that man. He's a conniving, devious scumbag.

AGAIN he mentions the owners being happy, and pointlessly mentions the age of the squad, and shamelessly name drops as if to give him some credibility.

Every word is for the ears of Mrs D, with the sole intention of keeping his scabby mits on a job he doesn't deserve. :angry2:

This is the Kübler-Ross extended grief cycle.

Where are you? To be honest I've been torn between "Anger" and "Depression" over the last 12 months. "Immobilisation" generally happens a few hours after a match. Either way it's probably a load of old ######. Which maps nicely onto Kean's thoughts.

Exactly. The guy is a complete coward. He hides behind some semi decent performances, the age of the team and the supposed compliments of other players and managers to satisfy those in charge. It's the lowest form of groveling and shows what a shameless glipe he really is.
