  1. 1. Should Steve Kean be sacked

Recommended Posts

great quote on LET

"just listened to him on bbc 5live:

ffs somebody PLEASE remove him from his post, he has, without a doubt, lost the plot and now actually BELIEVES his own bullsh*t????"

This is the case, he really does believe what he says and he can comvince himself of a false reality.

Hence he will never resign or believe he can't do it.

Surprisingly, he chose not to air my comment which accused the article of being in poor taste. Gary Speed's body wasn't even cold when he wrote this piece as a cheap diversionary tactic.

Incredibly bad taste. I follow Michael on Twitter and to be honest he's one of the last people I would have expected such sensationalism from.

Very disappointed.

I read the Marple Leaf blog and usually agree with most of his comments when it comes to Rovers but I can't this time.

I thought his latest article was in poor taste and had no real relevance to the situation at Ewood.

Its a strange article - I agree with some of it though to be honest. I don`t particualry like Steve Kean as I`m not fond of the lies and false positivety. As a manager he needs to be removed as soon as possible, but what I don`t like or feel a little uncomfortable with, is the real personal stuff that gets aimed at him, as he is just an individual like you an dI tryign to make a living. I`m not in any shape or form defending him in term sof the role he is doing for Rovers, he needs to go, but some of it is very very personal.

That said, the article is very poor taste I agree, especially relating Steve Kean to the tragic loss of Gary Speed - they don`t go hand and hand together and to use Gary`s death as a way of emphasing Steve Keans sitation is just plain wrong - shame on the writer.

Disgraceful article and very bad taste. Marple Leaf trying to get higher on Google hits by using the sadly deceased name?

I also posted a comment (signed ARA, Bangkok) let's see if he publishes that.

Is he, though? I'd say people in the real world working 9-5 every day or the thousands being laid off are the ones trying to make a living. Steve Kean is being handsomely rewarded for incompetence and has made a mockery of the club and the people who pay his wages. If he had any dignity, he would resign and thank heavens he was paid thousands every week for impersonating a football manager. He doesn't care one iota for this club and will happily take it down with him.

He is still trying to make a living Topman whether he is being paid well or not - that doesn`t stand up I`m afraid. If I were offerred a new job above my station at work, and was goign to get well paid for it, I would grab it with both hands. if I started to make a mess of it because I was above my skillset of knowledge, becuase of my character and the way I am, I wouldn`t jump ship, i would work even harder to try and get it right and keep goign until eithe rI got it right, or someone above me said enoughs enough - not too desimilar a sitaution to what kean is doing.

i would be doing the same as him - but that is all hypothetical talk anyways - I`m not wanting to argue about it, just playing devils advocate from what you have posted as I felt it was slightly blinkered topman.

Sure it does. Come rain or shine, Steve Kean gets his £20,000 a week. And if they sack him, he's due a tasty severance package. He doesn't need to earn his wages because he's in such a comfortable position. He could easily resign and live the good life, but he won't, because the man has no dignity.

I have no problem with Kean taking the opportunity. The way he acquired it remains open to scrutiny, but hey. I can accept that it was a once in a lifetime job for him. I *DON'T*, however, accept the lies and deceit he has used to keep himself in a job and divide the fanbase. And I also don't accept that he's not man enough to hold his hands up and accept he's fcked up. If you didn't know any better, you'd think Rovers were flying when you listen to his drivel. SO not only is he a terrible manager, he's a Grade A bullsh*tter.

It takes a honest, self-aware individual to hold his hands up and admit he isn't good enough for the job. We're not talking about a business that might lose a few quid. We're talking about a club that will taken to the cleaners if relegated, a club with an army of loyal supporters and local businesses relying on its success. The needs of the many outweigh the needs of Steve Kean's ego.

i would be doing the same as him - but that is all hypothetical talk anyways - I`m not wanting to argue about it, just playing devils advocate from what you have posted as I felt it was slightly blinkered topman.

Really? Would you also feed the public a different flavour of bullsh*t every week instead of admitting the truth of what you've brought upon the club?

Awful comparison. One is a manager and former model pro who's shocking and untimely death has shocked pretty much every football fan.

The other is someone who has apparently bargained himself a job for which he is clearly not qualified, alienated a portion of his own team's supporters through engaging in pettiness, doesn't produce the results for which his role is dependant on (yet pockets a pay rise for it!) and who values his own ego and blind belief above that of what is the greater good of the team/club.

I certainly don't wish death or harm upon Steve Kean but I think that part and parcel of his very well paid role should be to grow a thick skin and take the flak when you are obviously failing and to know when to walk away.

The article by Marple Leaf headed 'What if it had been Steve Kean instead of Gary Speed?' is very disappointing and a shocking slur on the protesters. If he is suggesting that waving a banner with Kean's face on it could be driving him to suicide then that is, to quote Marple Leaf, a 'ludicrous and overblown exposition of hysteria'.

(Also his 'I was talking to David Conn' was just shameless name dropping !)

I still find lots of the stuff written on here about Kean extremely distasteful. I thought we had turned the corner - the main recent reason being Clement and the difference in team pattern that many had seen . I also thought it unlikely that they would sack him soon enough - and it would be better for Kean to be a success rather than drag Rovers down (IMO the lesser of the two evils). I don't like the guy - but having said that I don't like Fergie.

"what almost everyone else has been seeing for almost a year now" - lol - everyone else ! Lots of people thought we finished last season on a relative high with some good performances - and that he should be given the opportunity to show he was more than he appeared. The people that thought he should be sacked where people that believed the rumours - that have never been proved and some have actually been disproved.

Your much too late comment - what rubbish - because of the inability of the teams above us we still have a reasonable chance of avoiding relegation with a decent manager and the right funds in January.

To be honest this sort of self righteous - "I told you so" - I find absolute b******s.

And this point is missed - look at many individual performances (especially younger players) and you can see the positive impact he has had on their games - where he is lacking is his ability to create a team pattern. We play like a team of individuals - which shows both his strength and his weakness.

There's some extreme drivel posted on this site from time to time, but blimey. Are you trying your best to out-drivel it?

Some people did tell you so, deal with it. It's to do with results not rumours. The table and stats do not lie. The man cannot win football matches.

Relative high end of last season?!?! You'd have to have had an extremely high dosage of medicine to feel it was a relative high. The man nearly took us down for goodness sake.

I`m not going to carry this on as i haven`t the time nor incline, but you have read my post out of context - I was referring to myself being offerred a job, in my line of work, not as a manager of Rovers Topman and not with an interface to the public domain !
