Jack Straw has just given Keane and Venky's both barrels on Talksport with Gray and Keys. To paraphrase He was saying Keane has had long enough to deliver on his strategy and the owners should jump on a plane and sort the mess out. For a politician he could not have mede the message any clearer namely, Keane Out!

Excellent. The pressure on Venkys is well and truly being cranked up. Think Kean will go tomorrow but the pressure shouldn't stop there. Venkys need to either start running the club properly or sell. Personally, I think their position is untenable so should sell.

It also goes to show that you can't mess with our beloved Rovers and get away with it!

Such poor signings by Kean far from Premier standard and accomodated for by using our better ones out of position.Pederson & Dunny have years of experience as goal makers not defenders..Prefer 4 more Spit the Diouffs than the oversea midfielders hes bought from Europe..There again who is picking these players and will any new manager really have a say who comes....Suspect BFS would have walked anyway if he could not have chosen.his own buys

Explain why, without making any reference to his time here as a player.

He's got a presence and reputation that will command respect and attract players - which can never be underestimated.

He would unite the supporters and, as long as he's the figurehead to the experienced number 2 making tactical decisions and conducting training, I'm all for it.

And you can't discount his time as a player here - he was an absolute machine for us and a thoroughbred Premiership legend.

I've not had a season ticket for years now, got more important things I'd rather be doing with my time and money, but I would strongly consider it under Big Al's leadership.

Could it go tits-up? Yes, of course it could.

But is it massively preferable to the current loser? 100% yes.

There are many elements of managing a football team, one is to unite Players, Management and supporters so we are all pulling in the same direction, the second is to put the right people around you, better still if you were a top player, you have a greater chance that players will listen to you, not to mention want to play for the club.

The key of course is who would Shearer (should this happen) appoint as a number 2 ?

Sorry Andy, was replying as you posted

That 'presence and reputation' did precious little for Newcastle when they needed saving. They went down with a whimper.

Not much different to his role on MOTD then.

Yes, you very easily can. Please separate the player from the manager. His time at Newcastle proved he was out of his depth and couldn't even rally the players with the 'new manager' effect.

For reasons God only knows.

When Shearer has an even worse win % than Kean? Damn right it will go tits up.

Shearer has a worse win record than Kean

3 points tonight are onyl vital IF it's followed with The Imposters removal. If that does not happen we are down and out even with the 3 points.

I have a feeling we wil lose, Kean will remain and the Indians will still not give a ######

I take from your comments you are not Mr Shearers best fan.

Post Keane we need a proven premier league manager with experience and scar tissue! This is not the time to be appointing people who need to learn on the job irrespective of how illustrious their playing career has been or whom they appoint as a number 2. There will not be a lot of cash available if any for the Jan window, so who ever comes in will have to probably make do with what he has. That's why experience, organisational skills and tactical nous are the critical attributes required.

;)

Just bugs me how people fall into this stupid trap that he'd make a good manager.

The same man who said "you don't become a bad manager overnight" when sticking up for Kean.

Obviously, he's the footballing Aristotle we need to clear up this mess.

My thoughts too - we won't have time for any new manager to learn the ropes.
