  1. 1. Should Steve Kean be sacked

Recommended Posts

I'm amazed that Steve Kean is taking almost the entirety of this abuse and criticism!

It was the owners who put him in this position, in a job which he was unqualified for but could hardly turn down.

I do too have some admiration for the character he has shown in all of this.

His motivations surely go beyond money when the safety of himself and his family now comes into question.

If some of our players had the same determination and commitment, we might have picked up some more points.

The simple fact is that he should not have been put in this position in the first place and should then have been removed from it when it was clear he was not up to the job.

You muppet! Kean deserves more than what he is getting and is only motivated by money, he's in this with Anderson and the fact that he is easier to hit than Venky's means tough ###### for him. Keep going at him and add some Venky's logo burning.

Just a note about Alex Ferguson's comments, and him saying that it says a lot about society when fans are like that.

I'd just like to point out that United topped the list of football related crime in 2010/11.

But you won't get Ferguson criticizing his own fans.

Come on, he's taken his kid into the last two press conferences after saying previously that the situation wasn't having a good effect on his family.

Why would someone take their child into a pressure cooker environment like that? Think about it.

After everything, that raises questions about either the mans morals or sanity. Not normal behaviour for a responsible parent.

Teamtalk's report of the press conference. (19th Dec)

"The Scot faced the media on Monday with his young son in attendance.

It can hardly have been a pleasant experience for the lad given his father was grilled repeatedly about Blackburn's plight, second bottom with 10 points, and the banner headlines in the local paper demanding that he is sacked immediately."

Just out of curiosity, did Ferguson say those things about Kean out of context or was he asked 'What do you think about Steve Kean and Blackburn'?

There are a lot of journos not doing a good job and consistently failing to ask the right questions to Kean and to people employed by the Rovers. It's a shame Kean turned down the meeting with the fans (we all knew it would happen) as that was really our only chance of getting any real answers.

Nah, he's already met with 'the fans'. He did a podcast with Kamy months ago, remember?

It's statements and actions like this which are why I have no sympathy for him as an out-of-his-depth manager and no respect for him as a man.

His spin is so obviously calculated and the media are lapping it up. The only sympathy I could have is if he has genuinely cracked, mentally, in which case he has brought it on himself and it's his family I feel sorry for.

So it's not just Venkys, it's Kean too. Imagine if the protests totally lay off Kean and as part of any sale, Mrs D insists that Kean's contract is renewed/improved. Then imagine if the new owners buy it.

This club is going back to decades in the wilderness and Kean has played his part, getting rich and arrogant (course I'm fit to drive) in the process.

No sympathy. People who call him Keano are reading it wrong, it's pronounced "Kean Zero".

Could do with Robson now to be fair.

Isn't he the only manager to survive the drop after being bottom at Christmas?

Please god no. Have ou been drinking with kean. Why is it the same old names that get mentioned. Glen hoddle would be an interesting choice

Well, there is a possibility that Steve Kean is hanging on solely because he has a good relationship with the players and he knows that if he resigns, there will be no competent manager like Hughes to take over, so he refuses to leave his team in the lurch by just resigning like that unless he gets assurance someone capable will take over.

Or I could be as deluded as him in trying to find some noble reason why he's staying as manager.

By the way, what's the latest news? Still saying he won't be sacked, and Mrs. Desai still backing him against her brothers and the board's wishes?

Steve Kean just been shown on SSN talking about Olsson being touch and go for tomorrow but after talking with physios he definitely won't make it.

The he scratched his neck!!!

Didn't one of our protestors say Olsson also gave a thumbs up at them yesterday. Coincidentally much like the unlucky Paul Robinson.

At worst, he's punishing players by dropping them, at best the players fitness routines are contributing to injury. The truth is probably somewhere in between but once again we are left guessing.

Not necessarily deluded but perhap valiantly in denial?

The issue with the protests is that because they were largely aimed at just Kean it is very easy to feel sympathetic towards him regardless of the job he's done. Seeing 20k fans hurling abuse at one man for 90 mins wasn't nice to watch from any perspective and its hardly surprising to see other managers rushing to Kean's aid because, quite frankly, it was appalling. Justified as it may have been, it was ugly.

Kean should have gone months ago and that is why Venkys are the issue. They hired Kean a year ago and have kept him in the job since. Targetting them instead of Kean would probably not have generated anywhere near as much negative publicity. I know certain fans will say that it doesn't matter how the media view the protests, but if they're not taken seriously or if they simply generate more sympathy towards Kean, then they wont have any impact.

'We haven't had a fit defence, now our keeper is out, when we have a fit squad, we'll hit the ground running, me mates have said so.'

You have a point, obviously Kean stays in the sights of the protests, however Venky's mist come centre stage.

I'm another that gets really fed up with the old "injuries" thing, If i remember rightly didnt Kean tell us to judge him after the summer transfer window?, The same transfer window in wich we signed a right back in Riberio(the new Dennis Irwin) and a left back in Myles Anderson(the next Chris Smalling), wich the media have failed to mention, instead he'd rather play players out of position. So he's saying that these players he's brought in are not good enough to even get on the bench when all other players from those positions are either injured, allowed to leave, or just not being played.

I have created a graph of league positions under Venkys. I think its mostly right but I may be a game or two out - plus it's also upside-down so it looks like they've had a positive effect (couldn't figure out how to flip the values). I will therefore call this the "Steve Kean version" - more ups than downs!

That graphic is so misleading.

Have you hacked Kean's Special Pune Laptop?

I think after yesterdays mumblings to the journalists Steve Kean has made it personal, it has gone beyond football now.

He is an imposter full of greed.

Kean "I have got a lot of support from some very experienced managers telling me I am doing a ‘marvellous job’ I listen to them.”

honestly, i feel sick, i hate Kean so much, ###### asshole ######

KEAN. YOU CAN POSE, LIE, SMIRK AND HIDE BEHIND OTHER MANAGERS' COMMENTS BUT YOU WILL NOT WIN IN THE LONG RUN. YOU CANNOT BEAT THE WHOLE OF THE SUPPORTERS. WE WILL HAVE YOU OUT EVENTUALLY AND THE SOONER THE BETTER.
