Why not Larsson? He looks like a very promising upcoming manager.

2nd division swedish footballers being coached by one of the biggest names they have ever produced is surely going to inspire them. Would it have the same affect here, doubtful. Don't confuse inspiration and awe withy managerial ability.

Only heard that name mentioned once before at that was not in public . Coincidence.

When Chuck Norris was born he had a twin, shotly there after he roundhouse kicked him into oblivion. Stating that NO ONE IMPERSONATES CHUCK NORRIS!!!

Some chatter on twitter that Judan Ali a British born Indian is in India to discuss and finalise talks with Venkys to become our manager

I've heard this one. I filed it under 'too good to be true'. You never know though, with your lot.

Mick McCarthy would almost guarantee you promotion this season, so he's no chance, thankfully.

Loving the Rafa Benitez suggestion.

Wonderful. Mr Football Knowledge strikes again, on a par with his informed opinion over the previous manager.

OK Compo, as usual you're quick with the disparaging remarks with no reasoning. Sorry to inform you that Sam ain't coming back, and Pedersen is really not management material, so assuming you're capable of independent thought who would you choose?

Oh, and I thought Kean was useless - was that wrong then?

We absolutely have to get promoted and stay up if we want to repair the immense damage Kean has caused and keep Rovers as the club is has been for the last 20 years. If we don't achieve both those things then its back to the level Preston and Burnley are at, for a long, long time if not for good. The job that needs doing is of immeasurable importance and as such I really don't think we can take any risks at all. We need a manager who has done exactly what needs doing with a similar sized club and on similar resources. Curbishley, Redknapp, McCarthy if desperate, Billy Davies perhaps. Not flash, not exciting, not foreign to be honest. Someone who knows exactly how english football works and what it takes to make a 2nd tier club into an established 1st tier one in this country.

My heart would welcome Larsson. The man was a fantastic player, perhaps the best Celt of all time. He's also a nice guy, honest and lacking in bullshit.

My head however tells me that to trust such a monumental task to a guy who has been managing in the Swedish second tier - regardless of his greatness as a player - would be just as naive as appointing Kean.

Di Canio is the outstanding candidate "by a mile" you said.

All he's achieved so far is the same thing that Paul Ince managed to achieve before joining us - League Two promotion.

If he didn't have the fancy name then you wouldn't be suggesting him. What about the other managers that achieved League Two promotion that year - why aren't you suggesting them?

If we were still seeing weird decisions like Vukcevic frozen out etc, then yes.

The best thing Black can do for himself is publicly distance himself from Kean and his regime. Then he needs to quickly stamp his mark on the team and show he's his own man - get Vukcevic back in, stop playing Lowe on the right wing etc.

i have it on good authority (a certain journo) that he's attitude is absolutely disgusting. Doesn't want to learn English, doesn't want to train & doesn't want to get on with his team mates.

Granted it wouldn't draw the crowds back straight away but if performances were on the up and Black turned out to be a decent guy i'm sure people would come back.

I just don't want people ousting our next manager whoever that may be before they've even been appointed yet.

I totally see where you're coming from but unfortunately this will be seen as another Kean like appointment. IF he wins games then I don't think he'll be treated with quite the same hatred but still...

Would you feel motivated if everyday you turned up to work you saw Kean!!

(and weren't played even though you were quite clearly better than players picked ahead of you).

Excellent point. Still, his attitude problems have affected his career previously.

I agree-i think fans want to see a line drawn under everything that reminds them of Kean and unfortunately rightly or wrongly people see Black as having been associated with that era. It goes back to what i posted in my guide to looking for a manager in that fans need to feel somebody has been appointed with a good public profile/proven integrity. If Black is appointed people will still have doubts ... not gd for P.R etc

Reading Vukcevic's wiki page it seems this is not a new thing:

"In late July 2006, he was even demoted to Saturn's reserve squad with coach Vladimir Weiss publicly blasting him in the Russian press for displaying bad attitude in training and having a lack of manners."

Would be interesting to know if his bad attitude stems from not playing or if his bad attitude is the reason for him not playing. Then again we could have a never ending cycle on our hands. If his attitude is the problem at least that explains things a bit better and puts to rest some theories. It's just so frustrating when you have a blatantly talented footballer who could (and perhaps should) be one of our better players but yet his attitude stinks. Maybe a new and respected manager could solve that problem though, the question is who?

Di Canio is far too much of a gamble. He could come in and do a brilliant job or he could end up falling out with the whole squad, I don't think there is any in-between with the guy. I would rather we don't take the risk at all.

I think it's imperative that we don't promote from within this time. It has been clear since Kean's tenure that there is a fitness issue at the club and there is a lack of organisation. A new manager would bring in new ideas, new training methods, new tactical changes and give the players a kick up the arse (which they need).

If we appoint Black then I can only see more of the same, I don't believe this theory he had no influence whatsoever when Kean was manager especially on the training side. If there is any truth in these rumours that the players have had it too easy since Kean came in then I am not surprised they want Black.

I dont this Vukcevic hype. I have also heard that he has a horrible attitude which in my book gives the manager allrights to drop him from the team.

Me neither. Its the same thing that makes fans chant subs names, clamour for Rochina, or talk up Murphy over the summer like he was god/Tugay. Its a comforting thought if there's always somebody better on the bench/not in the squad/playing for another team that we can call upon. When usually these players aren't in the side for a good reason, and players of other clubs are only thought about when they do something good.

Former Real Madrid boss Bernd Schuster has applied for the vacant manager's position at Blackburn, talkSPORT understands.

The 52-year-old, who won La Liga with Real Madrid in 2008 before being shown the door in December of the same year, has been out of work since leaving Besiktas in March 2011.

Now Schuster is keen to try his luck in England and has thrown his hat into the ring for the Blackburn job, following Steve Kean's departure from Ewood Park on Friday.

As well as Real, the experienced German has also managed Spanish sides Levante, Getafe and Xerez, Ukrainian giants Shakhtar Donets and Cologne in his homeland.

Blackburn will now consider whether to hand him the task of leading the club back into the Premier League, although a number of other names are also in contention, with Henrik Larsson, Alan Shearer, Tim Sherwood and current caretaker coach Eric Black all linked with the role.

If he has applied then that would be amazing. Was a class player and is a good manager!
