Shame for the lad  looked like he could step up before his injury problems

Yep, he looked like a neat and tidy one with a good engine who could kick on, real shame, fingers crossed he can get fit and playing at a decent level even if its ultimately not with us (very hard to come back after a 2 year break from playing at his age I would think)

Good to see the club supporting young players in situations like this though

Rory Finneran, 15, has taken part in the internal games with the senior team. Also 16 year olds Max Davies and Tom Atcheson, both centre halves.

Anyone have knowledge of any of them?

Yes JDT mentioned this during his interview last week. Its great at he is so keen at develop our young players and shows how linked Rovers is from top to bottom.

Finneran’s agent is a pal of mine, and he says he tries to emulate Roy Keane in his style of play.

Personally think he does a solid impression, he’s hard defensively, but equally capable of bursting forward.

I think we’ll be talking about him in a similar vein as we spoke about Jones and now Wharton. Capable of being a generational talent.

Thanks Mike for the update

Lot's of generational talents for one club!

Its shows how we can find these players and hopefully develop them into good players for us. Also shows how good are coaches are at developing players. Our academy is one of the best at producing players for the first team

Not strictly just about Rovers youngsters, but I notice Biniek and Nsangou are going to the u19s euros with Poland, who will share a group with Malta, but that Wharton and Phillips won't be there as England missed out on qualifying.

Can anybody explain to me how shitty little Malta u19s have qualified whilst England u19s didn't? Are they hosts or something? I tried to find online how they qualified but I can't, they're seemingly too insignificant to list matches for. Even transfermarkt only had friendlies.

We are hosting.

England u-19s drew too many in the qualifying group.

Planning to go to Malta v Poland

You will be interested in this then, others probably will be too

He has been named Ireland U15 player of the year, sounds like he has his head screwed on right too

Can't say I am too fussed about that.

From a purely selfish point of view i would much prefer to have Wharton and Phillips in pre season with us than over in Malta with England.

Just found this clip of him. Looks a player !

Already training with 1st team apparently this pre season 👍👍

You beat me to it. I was just about to post this. I do also find it quite funny that these days YouTube reels of 15 year old players exist. The level of exposure is crazy.

Yeah, was captain of the U18 in the good FA Youth run and made a an impact at U21. A bit similar to a young Rodwell in midfield, powerful and strong runner. Was probably ready to be involved in the first team pre-season when injury hit, so feel really bad for him.

2 years out and 4 operations on the foot sounds really bad. Not heard what the injury was, but you might suspect ankle. Good of the club to give him a chance and some hope.

Ft. 2-0. Portugal defence far too strong and street smart. Hugo Felix took their second goal really well but best player on the park was their right back Gocalo Esteves.

Biniek is very short in stature but looked a player when he came on. Forced the keeper into conceding a corner and looks pacey with body strength and a good football mind from his 20 minutes playing very wide on the right.
