Pears still conceding at a Wahlstedt rate against worse opposition. People clamouring for him to return need to be careful what they wish for. At least let him shake off the ring rust first.

Ennis and Telalovic up front, Markanday (right) and Batty (left) wide.  Batty moved to left back when Gilsenan came on. Like the first team is at least meant to function, the wide forwards often do come inside.

An enjoyable watch at the Academy today but poor defending seems to be an epidemic running right through the club right now. We lead three times, the third of which came in stoppage time and gave us a great chance of winning the game but we left ourselves wide open and conceded right at the end of the six minutes of stoppage time. Duru looked good today and Batty carried on from Wednesday in his quest to return to form. Gilsenan as a half time substitute played well as did Finneran when he came on. Pears made some good saves and generally commanded his area but was beaten three times. I didn't think there was much he could have done about and of them but it doesn't look good to be conceding so many. Ennis scored, missed a penalty and a couple of sitters and was generally poor. He was substituted eventually and was last seen trudging towards the changing room. Markanday improved in the second half after a dreadful first half. Telalovic looked by far our most capable striker in front of the watching Tomasson.

An entertaining game but, once again, the defending was awful.  Good to see Pears back and he made a number of good saves but couldn't do anything about the three we conceded.  He looked a far more commanding figure than Leo.

The defence, once again, was wide open time after time.  Atcheson had a decent game at centre-back but was badly at fault for the second Palace goal.  Leo Duru again caught the eye at right-back.  The lad has pace and power and uses the ball well.  He looks a real prospect.  

Finneran and Tyjon both looked impressive when they came on in the second-half - just hope we can hang onto them with Premier League clubs showing interest.

Markanday, on the right-wing, had a good second-half, whilst Batty had a good game on the left but had to drop back in the second-half when Chrisene went off at half-time.  Of the two new boys Chrisene looked the more impressive.  Ayari was fairly anonymous until he went off injured early in the second-half.  No Weston today which was disappointing after his excellent performance on Wednesday.

 Telalovic, was mobile and linked up the play well and after hitting the post with a header, scored the third goal.  Sadly, Ennis, who had a weak penalty effort saved, did little to impress.

An entertaining afternoon of football but really a game that we ought to have won.

There was a story in the telegraph this week that Weston may be going out on loan, so maybe he was not involved as something is moving forwards on that front?

It's disappointing how poor Ennis was in the game. Ennis missed another penalty. Was it poor taker or good save their keeper?

Twice in that game we score a goal, then concede within a few minutes. This to me shows either a lack of concentration or organisation.
