i was going to ask what all this talk about a holiday was about.  Glad somebody posted what i was going to post, that BBD has gone to Dubai where they have a team of specialists to help with his injury (don't know what makes them so special in Dubai but whatever, he is an élite athlete now and he gets élite treatment).  And yes, the Chilean FA is involved in his treatment because they hope to have Ben on the pitch vs Brazil next month.  He had been in London this last week with two specialist doctors (one of whom is Chilean) and then Rovers decided to send him to the UAE, not just because they have the best specialists but because they reckoned Ben would benefit from a warmer climate, Chilean papers are reporting.  He should be back in England on Sunday.

Not what I'd heard, this new treatment sounds very Chile driven and not Rovers driven. He was due off on holiday with Rovers full blessing for a weeks break the Monday after the Millwall game. His missus was going with him too.

You can hardly blame them for not trusting our famed medical department.

I think we all know what happens here. He’s rushed back, breaks down again on international duty, or soon after, and isn’t seen again this season.

I had assumed chile was behind it.  I was going to write that if BBD were not an international player he would just be back in England with his team mates waiting to heal.   But the article i read in chile's newspaper La Tercera (a reliable source) stated it was Rovers idea to send him to the UAE.

Chilean FA medical personnel have been in daily contact with Rovers medical staff and BBD himself.  The Chilean national team coach, the uruguayan Martín Lasarte, will personally pay BBD a visit on his trip to Europe next week.

I get why they want him from Chile's side, but as a Rovers fan, following the initial novelty factor, Chile are really becoming a bit of a hindrance to us, with the extra games, the extra travelling, and now potentially risking him when he isnt fully fit and there is nothing that we can do.

https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/19974714.blackburn-rovers-chile-locked-talks-ben-brereton-diaz-fitness/

I can't say I'd be disappointed if they lost the first of their 2 games coming up and had no chance of the World Cup going into the second!

Yep, they are really starting to piss me off now. He's going to be half fit at best, he isn't going to be much use against Brazil and Uruguay. Coventry and Blackpool, with an extra week to train up, is a different story. But he could easily break down before then, in a high intensity game with travel thrown in.

They honestly piss and moan every time he is missing for a game, but we've missed him for a bunch now. This season could decide the whole forward trajectory of this club. World Cups come and go. He is also a better player relative to our players than he is relative to theirs, ie we need him more to function. Fuck off Chile!!

I can fully understand why Chile want Brereton to be fit and ability to play in both games but I don't see them taking any risk with his fitness. Brereton is a key player for them so I can't see why they want to play and be part of the playing squad but hopefully if the first game result in a lost then hopefully they sent him back here. If I was Rovers, I would sending one of our physio over to monitor the situation and related all information back to Rovers

Also its time FIFA stop having international fixtures again in March. The international football calendar need reviewing in my opinion.

They need to remember who pays his wages. Ideally, we’d stand up to them and tell them this ourselves tbf.

FIFA rules means they can ban him from playing for us and that the problem with the international football calendar and how is favours the nations not clubs

For them, such is the importance of the games, the risk is worth taking. If they don't do well in these 2 games, they wont be at he World Cup.

I fully understand that but Chile aren't going to risk on injured players when facing Brazil. They need 11 fit players against them.

We have to see how it play out but I think Common sense will be seen here

They play games so far apart at international level, especially competitive ones, that the injury risk for them is a minimal factor.

They don't even have any more fixtures scheduled in yet, so I'm assuming the next time he might be needed is the World Cup.

Trouble is the lad will probably want to play. Brazil in the Maracana ? It’s everybody’s dream.

And Chile need 4 points from their last 2 realistically.

I imagine he wants to play and that Chile are pushing hard. Very full on from them visiting Ewood, seems they are meddling with Rovers business big time. Never heard of this before, sure check in etc but they almost seem to be calling the shots.

They've got the measure of those down at Ewood. Would these strong arm tactics be happening if the club had real operators in place? I doubt it.
