In 2023 he’s played played 38 games for club and country and scored 6 goals.

His form seems to have fizzled back down to the pre-Chile levels.

He scored 20 league goals for us in the first 24 league games after his Chile debut.

From that point he went on to score a further 16 in 56 for us (again league only)

That’s quite the drop off (but still better than his pre-Chile days!)

I see BBD played the full game in a 5-0 win at lower league Chiclana in the Spanish Cup today.  He didn’t score.

Chiclana are a none league team, who play on the costa del sol, not far from Malaga. Ben failed to score yet again, despite playing for the full 90 minutes.

Looks like his confidence is shot and the fans are on his back.

It’s been a bad move for him and one he may live to regret.

We may soon see him at Ewood again lining up for the opposition.

Burnley and Palace also linked.

I would be surprised if he ever gets back to the level he did, when he hit the 24 for us.

His level is championship, so La Liga was always a step too far. If he ends up in the prem he won’t cut it. He may score a few at somewhere like WBA but think even double figures will be difficult.

Such an odd one, he looked terrible, literally awful at times before his purple patch then even when he was scoring for fun seemed to enjoy a huge streak of good fortune.

Then he settled down but started scoring the odd worldie!

In honesty I really have no clue how good he is but think the truth is better than his worst but not as good as the one season Diaz

When he's on form BBD has shown has a very capable striker at Championship level. He can hit the back of the net with decent accuracy, gets involved and runs at defenders. He isn't fast, but he isn't slow either. He's got good stamina and is a solid athlete.

The problem, as noted many times, is that he's the definition of a confidence player. When he loses confidence he starts snatching shots, doesn't get himself as involved in play and hesitates to run at defenders. I think he begins to overthink things, which is a big problem for a striker. He's been out of form for a while now - he stopped scoring regularly for us at the end of last year, so it's been nearly a year since he was scoring on anything close to a regular basis. Any club that takes him on a six month loan in January would have to hope he starts hitting the back of the net within a few games, or they'll likely have six months of BB rather than BBD.

hypothetical maybe considering finances, but if he was willing, [presumably Villareal would be]  - would we take him back on loan in January??
