Mowbray’s Future

Recommended Posts

Well.....great timing.  I bet he couldn't sign it quick enough after the last 2 performances.

Like the integrity of the guy.  Not sure he's going to take us forward though.

Let's see if Venkys keep their word and support him, as per their statement.

The Owners of Blackburn Rovers said: "We are delighted that Tony Mowbray has agreed a new long-term contract with the football club.

"Tony is someone we have the utmost respect for, both as a person and a football manager. He conducts himself the right way, his philosophies and values match our own, and we have a common ambition.

"Over the course of his tenure, he has united the supporter base and assembled a group of players that not only give their all for the shirt, but have also shown that they can compete with any team in this division. As this team develops and grows, we are excited by what they can achieve.

"The new deal ensures stability, which is so vitally important, and provides a platform for the club to continue to move forward in the right direction.

"We want this great club to get back to where it belongs and Tony will have our steadfast support and backing as we embark on this journey together."

Inspiring stuff from the owners. Definitely the pen style of the 70s porn star one...

Bit harsh on Waggott.

Good news in the wider scheme of things but god-awful timing.

A new contract should be a walk out and wave at the fans moment. After the recent dreadful performances, perplexing team selections, of the last month or so, and now the humiliation of two heavy defeats to local rivals, he will likely receive a muted response.

I’ve been thoroughly embarrassed all week and at the end of it, the guy responsible gets a pay rise.

Nice one Venkys; the veritable royal family of bad timing.

Excellent news.  Mowbray has put the club back on a solid footing and thoroughly deserves a long term contract.  Personally, I think the timing is perfect coming on the back of two defeats - no better way for the owners to show their faith in the manager and indicates that one or two bad results won't lead to wholesale changes and the instability we've had in the past.

Think the timing is due to supporter unrest and rightly so with some of the peculiar decisions.

He could be gone in the next 5-6 games so it's all well and good thinking it's great but I'd rather a consistent manager getting results than a "Good guy with integrity" football isn't like any other job. You can be here and gone in days.

He IS a consistent manager getting results... it’s only the last 2 games where we’ve looked crap.

Agreed but the Rovers managers job [since Venkys arrived] isn’t like any other in football!

Have to agree ! Stuart wanted a fanfare and a parade around the pitch ..probably the last thing TM would want!

We ve done exactly what Sheff Utd did when they came up,exceeded expectations and then slowly finding our place. What TM does in the next couple of transfer windows is going to be more important than a couple of defeats. Stay up consolidate move on.

Agree and it will now cost a load of money.

No way should he be getting a new contract until the end of the season. Last time in this division he took us down and the recent signs are it could happen again.

Great news after an awful week, and Nothing more than Mowbray deserved. He has brought honest and integrity to the manager and brought the fans, club and players back together

I think the contract is a year too much personally but he deserves it considering the job hes done. Lets hope he can iron out the recent blot on his copybook so to speak. Plenty of credit from last season.

I would offered him a 4 year contract and said this is the guy to take us forward and back to the Premier League

1000% agree.

Shows the owners and Mowbray are on the same wavelength and have a plan going forward
