I think Mowbray is quite secure in the knowledge he's going to be here next season.. and nothing he's said or done has suggested otherwise.

To be fair the snippet I heard was as long ago as mid April when we were in the midst of the death spiral and everyone was calling for Mowbray's immediate sacking.

The information seemed quite definite and was to the effect that he would be leaving at the end of the season. It seems Paul Mani heard similar from a different source so it's perhaps too early to describe it as wrong.

If it doesn't happen, fine, fire away.

This is the problem Rev, the way some people on here react to snippets being passed on doesn't exactly encourage posters to share any info or even gossip. It all gets a bit snidey at times.

For what its worth I still trust my source who told me that the plan around Feb/March time was to part company with TM at the end of the season, then it seemed to change to a more imminent parting of the ways in April, then something happened to put Plan A back on the table, which my source reckons is still going to happen. I am making the assumption that they had someone lined up to take over but it didn't work out.

This fella wouldn't simply make these things up, he's not an attention seeker, WUM, or anything like that at all and he doesn't have a track record of getting things wrong. 

The next week or so will tell us, I suppose, whether any of this has any substance.

The local media have become a major part of the problem. Mowbray could come out and say the earth was flat and instead of challenging it and saying it was rubbish that comment would probably get spun something like "The intuitive Rovers boss has taken a bold and alternative view on the shape of the world in order to try and get an edge on his rivals."

To be honest Rev we are this point in our history because our owners can't hack how to run a football club.  They have been here ten years and still haven't a clue how football works or how a football club is run. 

If the manager remains it's because the owners are happy with him to remain.  When they are not they will appoint another who will operate within the boundaries that they set.  

Since relegation from the Premier League we have had a variety of managers and none have been able to get us anywhere near the play-offs - something that Don Mackay was able to do on next to no budget whilst Bob Saxton had us at the top end with no money.  The common dominator with regard to ten years of failure remains the owners.

Sadly, Blackburn Rovers are just another example of how football has evolved over the past twenty years or so.  So many clubs are now just one part of a portfolio of billionaires who operate on a global stage.  The football that I first grew in love with sixty years ago has gone forever at the professional level.  I suspect Accrington Stanley is the closest I can get to it in this area.

No, the problem is people come out with shite, get people's hopes up, and then deny they said it a few months later.

Some people talk shite. To be fair to the two gentlemen in question here though, they come across as being fairly considered in their general postings, so I think it's a tad unfair to label what they've reported here as 'shite'.

Mowbray is incredibly lucky having a job that pays very well, can car share with his cronies and he's his own boss.

The journey from Teesside to Brockhall is a nice ride and time it right it isnt a busy route or difficult.

Other than his beloved Middlesbrough no other Championship club is as convenient to reach from where he lives.

He's worked in Glasgow, Ipswich and the Midlands. A nightmare in comparison.

He just can't help himself with the family guy hard working line. He knows it touches home with the Desai clan. It really is that easy to keep your job.

I think for half a million +  per year most of us would make that sacrifice or use our wallet to arrange something more suitable.

This sob story writer could afford a bloody helicopter shuttle ride if he wanted.  Lets face it he in't kipping in his car when he isn't home. My mate drives an artic for Asda and sleeps in his cab 3 night per week for a fraction of Mowbrays salary or lifestyle.

Does he moan and cry about it ?   Well yes he does but only when he's had a few pints, then he just gets on with it. He doesn't go into the Asda news saying how hard his life is and how he's missing his kids growing up !

For nearly 2 years now Mowbray has worn the look and talked the talk of someone who's ready for an easier life.  Then he must wake up and think hang on, i'm at Venky Rovers i already have it.

Brilliant post. 

Thing is your flat earth illustration is sadly not too dissimilar to his actual statements, as in they are utterly at odds with reality. Rovers fans remembering and expecting Premiership wins, Covid affecting us and not others, acclimatising to the championship are almost as detached from reality and as easy to debunk as flat earth theory. 

We are into that level of rediculousness and yet it still remains unchallenged.

Sorry Parson, we are where we are currently because Mowbray isn't good enough, he's had fantastic backing, wasted millions and never been asked to sell anyone he doesn't want to.

The sort of backing that the likes of Mackay and Saxton could only dream of as you rightly point out.

I can't reveal the source of my info on that, suffice to say the info  itself was fairly precise and seemed entirely credible at the time. The original source of the info would have had absolutely no reason to make it up either.

I have been referring to it indirectly over the last month or so and wouldn't have done so if I didn't believe it to be correct. What's the point in making stuff up and then looking daft when it doesn't happen?

However, I am admittedly starting to wonder why Mowbray apparently has been allowed to veto potential transfer targets IF he is leaving.

Are things THAT much of a disorganised shambles down at Ewood?

He's basically wasted the last couple of years budget on a failed experiment of transition to possession, then stats based possession football.  We've regressed as a consequence and don't even look the solid upper mid table outfit we were a few seasons ago.

Now it's going to have to be reset again and dumbed down even more whilst the 'identity' he's been trying to stamp on them will have to change again.

The fella is 100% taking the piss and has been for a long while, he'll do and say anything to stay in his wages and look after his pals. There's been enough from this dysfuntcional ownership for a more organized driven manager to establish us within at least touching distance of the top 6.

Only this dysfunctional ownership though would ignore the obvious and keep rewarding under achieving.

I know there are people attempting to open up communication lines in an attempt to work with/for Venky’s, and presumably this is the reasoning behind comments like this. Completely makes sense in that regard, but surely you don’t believe it Rev?

@Parsonbluehits the nail on the head. Venky’s entire tenure has been one of decline right across the board. We have regressed in every single aspect.

When do we stop making excuses for them and blaming managers they employ and stubbornly stick with? When do they cease to be naive and badly advised? When do the wider fanbase face the fact they are negligent and incompetent?

“We won’t be going abroad this year. We’ve already sorted the pre-season to a vast majority,” he added. “We’ve got a lot of games pencilled in, we know where we’re going with the group, we’ve sorted out many things.”

Not the work of a man expecting his P45.

Pre season will be easy enough to predict. Any 4 or 5 of Carlisle, Barrow, Morecambe, Blackpool, Stanley, Oldham, Rochdale, Wigan, Fleetwood, Bolton and Tranmere followed by our showpiece friendly against Everton or Liverpool reserves as thanks for developing our players last season/anyone else we can have?

How can we possibly entertain making a change now he has rung some mates up at other clubs and got to work on new contracts.

I don't disagree the owners overall record has been terrible but I'm failing to see why Mowbray couldn't have made a decent fist of things with the (imo) extremely generous backing he's had.

Granted they should never have in a million years allowed him to install Waggott as his immediate boss but that shouldn't in itself have automatically meant poor performance, it was just bound to lead to obvious problems if he needed to be replaced at some point.
