Cos Marcon who is our kit supplier manufacture the shirts in China and given the current situation over there, plus the supply issues from there since 2020 is a massive problem for companies even bigger than Blackburn Rovers F.C.

Plus, Rovers fans was quick to buy kits early in the season. I would suggest that we are easily passed last season's figures of club kits sales.

What’s that got to do with no kits being on sale at various times of the year (including Christmas) every other season?

I just explained the reasons why from the supply chain side and Rovers fans have bought early in the season and quickly. People need to buy them early in the season. Even on the Macron official site, They are sizes out of order.

We repeatedly run out of stock season after season including at Christmas. That says enough.

cos Rovers fans buy them quick and that included myself as they are release in the early part of the summer. Shows how high the demand is for new season kits

Without knowing what the sales figures are I don't know how you reach that sort of viewpoint.

Also you need to understand the current problems with the supply chain coming from China as I know from my own knowledge at the company I worked for.

I would have thought it was fairly simple. If you run out of stock, who ever did the order, fucked up. That is what happens in most retail businesses.

Does anyone have a contact at the club store who can look into the VAT issue for non-UK based purchases?

I've inquired multiple times, have gotten initial responses, but the issue has not been fixed. I'm based in the US, and I should not be charged VAT for any purchase (which helps to somewhat offset the exorbitant shipping costs). However, the VAT is not being removed at checkout and for that reason, I have not placed any orders this or last season. Nor will I, until the issue is fixed. I know several other US fans in the same boat.

Anyone have any ideas?

It's a really simple premise.

If you run out of in-demand stock, you've messed up. It's the kind of mistake people get immediate written warnings, ir even sacked on the spot for in normal companies.

For a team with a Chilean megastar up front, this is truly embarrassing and sums up the complete lack of ambition from the team at Ewood. Too busy looking into NFTs and crypto to realise there’s people trying to buy their basic product that are being restricted. They’ve got disdain for the fans and I feel much the same towards them.

One more time as you seem to be even more hard of understanding than normal…

This point was raised last season in December and @Ben Frost gave a very similar answer (page 16) to what I have this time.

Fans should be congratulated in purchasing so many Shirts/kits cos they have bought what Stock Rovers have ordered and managed to transport from China despite severe problems plus a number of on-going issues outside football which I won't mention in this thread which isn't appropriate for this thread.

Not really a fuck up when Fans have bought the shirts so early in the season.

I don't accept Rovers messed up at all. I would say we should be congratulating Fans who have bought shirts and other merchandise so quickly. Also take into account that if Rovers wanted another batch of kits for the Christmas time in October after seeing the demand in the early months of the season it would be far too late to order them cos of manufacturing and logistics problems.

For example. Let's say Rovers had ordered 5,000 shirts of each shirt for the season of 21/22 so on the back of that Rovers then decided they will increase their order by 10% for 22/23 season, cos demand but yet again Rovers fans have bought their shirts for season so early leaving many of them out of order, so Rovers will again increase their order by 15% for season 23/24 season which would have ordered already (probably 2 or 3 months ago) and being manufacture in the coming months being shipped. Then added the logistical problems with any products coming from China or even the far east now.

Great story Chaddy, but even when we’ve had crap kits there were never any for Christmas either. Nowt to do with Covid, China or anything else as this has been going on for years.

Does Tesco ‘congratulate its customers’ for buying all the milk and bread when there’s nowt on the shelves? What bloody nonsense 🙄

It is piss poor retail management to sell out of your key stock pre the Christmas period year after year.

The reason why our key stock is sold out is down to fans buying it quick.

@Ben Frostanswered this point about Rovers selling out in past seasons 12 months ago in replying to yourself.

A quick look at PNE, Burnley, Blackpool, Wigan and Bolton’s online shop. All have all shirts in stock at various sizes. Sure they’ll be selling plenty for Christmas.

In contrast, what a strange phenomenon we have at Ewood each season when all stock is gone by Autumn (though some will arrive at the back end of the season at knock down prices after months with none on the shelves, as per Ben’s point) no matter if the shirt is good or shite. Anybody would think we are a disorganised mess of a club…

Still £50 per shirt is it? Hell of a lot of money to let walk away once you think about how often that will happen over Christmas.

Flogging all your stock is indeed impressive. Failing to replenish in order to take advantage of that demand is anything but.

Anyway, inspired by another team I keep an eye on, do you think Rovers will let out a small unit in the Mall in order to hoover up passing trade in the run up to Christmas? I know Rovers fanbase is much more of spread out than a traditonal town team but Blackburn town centre is the retail heart of this corner of the world, and Ewood is hardly convenient for those nipping into town or one of the retail parks; plus not everyone enjoys online, certainly for clothes and what have you. Interest in the club is at the highest in a good while and I can't help but feel a couple of weekends flogging merch any which way we could would not only boost the bank balance but also act as a fairly effective advertising campaign...

Sorry to hear about that.

I thought I was quids in buying both home and away shirts from last season. I live in Sweden and the VAT. Was deducted from my order. Whoopee doo.

However, when my shirts arrived weeks later, Swedish tax folks charged me around £30 for having them imported.

A repeated inability to get levels of supply anywhere near demand  surely is enough to raise questions about efficiency? Maybe not if you are on the windup.

Who is on the wind up on this subject?

Also I have asked only2Garners to ask at the next fans forum meeting what the sales figures for home, away and 3rd shirt this season? and past seasons.

Rovers used to have a shop in Blackburn town centre in Church Street.

It is the subsequent refusal to consider that a repeated inability for the club to come close to meeting demand with supply especially at peak periods is anything but a valid criticism of the efficiency of a part of the club.

One person on here has moaned about like he did last December if you look back through the forum thread.

The club has met the demand and even went to 4xl in all 3 shirts this season for the first time.

Also has mentioned on page 16 of this thread that Rovers club shop has had shirts in until nearly to the end of the season in previous seasons.

Indeed, I can remember being in there when Appleton (I think it was) was just announced as gone.

I appreciate the need for one in town isn't there in the long run, but for a couple of weeks in a prime spot in town in the run up to Christmas? Surely we could justify it with a bit of impetus.

Its a interesting point you made. I don't know about whether the demand for a town centre club shop would be there for 2 weeks to a month.
