Where we once used to be distraught and wear black when our star player was being sold we now have twitter where people are 'getting excited'.

That sums everything up about the club now, not sure what there is to be excited about the lads going. Just what do they think is going to follow this now in all seriousness ?

Embarrassing isn't it. The most excitement we have seen in months and it is all about rumours of which clubs are after our best player and how much they are willing to pay for him.

The fact that Rovers won't benefit from the money and that these clubs were below us in the pecking order not too long ago just sums up how far we have fallen.

Absolutely nothing in the media about players we are after (probably because we aren't after anyone) yet weekly hysteria about Armstrong going because that's just about all there is left to talk about here.

Within about 12 months of selling Rhodes we were well on course for league 1.

Yet at the time of his sale some were convincing themselves the team was about to play better. The money was getting re-invested in all sorts and this was the catalyst to kick on.

How many kicks in nuts do some need before they guard them next time.

From what it sounds like the ings deal to Aston Villa has completely opened this up. Obviously it has pushed Southampton into a move, which in turn has forced clubs like palace and Norwich who were maybe hoping for a bargain near the end of the window into action. 
 

What id be happy with is 15-20m plus obafemi or preferably Idah on a PERM deal.

I don't think he's our star player, his contract is up at the end of the season and there's no chance he'll be signing a new one.

£25m (if that's the fee) - Newcastle's cut flowing through the club is fantastic. We're going nowhere under Mowbray and the money won't be reinvested, but at least it gets us out of FFP trouble.

I'd love a swap deal for a talented young striker with genuine pace. Best case scenario - we're a slow side.

The pure cash is better for us, even if £6.8m of a £20m sale goes to Newcastle. We’d be best served spending money on a selection of good value players in January than bringing in an Obafemi or an Idah on high wages.

Like we did after selling Rhodes, Gestede, Cairney? Oh yeah, we spent nothing, relied on frees and loans and ended up in League One.

The money goes into the black hole and to pay the wages of loans.

For me the preference has to be a deal involving obafemi or Idah. 

3 reasons, first it lowers the amount paid to newcastle as a %. Secondly i don't think we would be able to get anyone better on what looks likely to be a free transfer. And thirdly it gives us a tangible asset for to develop and sell once mowbray eventually goes. 

With the finances as they are it appears the club would prefer the cash.

We won't be reinvesting any of the money into the squad.

But we won't Joe as you know, so the best deal.for us as fans is for Armstrong to stay and score 25 goals again. He can go on a free next year for me.

Nicko stating it’s £15m + Adam Idah who Norwich value at £5m.

Haven’t heard much about Idah but having done some reasons he sounds like a really shrewd piece of buisness if we can get him. Norwich fans perplexed about the idea of losing him on loan let alone on a perm. Sadly if this deal turns out to be a loan then the whole perception changes.

If we replace Armstrong with Idah on loan as per the LT, a striker with 6 league goals in his career, on the back of the summer so far and who we have as manager, we are asking for relegation. Such a depressing situation, I dont see why people are getting excited about a bidding war, its immaterial if at least a small proportion isnt reinvested on permanent players.

We cant afford to hold off until January to start signing players, we could be cut adrift by then or at least be in a position similar to the season in which we went down. There is no reason that we shouldnt have a list of players ready and waiting for this expected eventuality so I dont understand why we would wait. As it is, I suspect that it will still be loans only and then the money will never be seen. If that is the case, can you see us staying up?

Getting someone half decent in return also helps us stay up this season. As we are all aware taking armstrongs goals out of this rovers team leaves us very suspecticle to relegation

Just saying - if you read the Norwich fan forums - they don’t actually want the deal to happen if it means losing Idah on a perm, they really rate him. Would take 15m plus Idah any day

It's a permanent move for Idah according to the Sun paper.

The article says twice that we just want cash, it is very contradictory and this is the third swap deal that Nixon has dreamt up, the LT says that any deal for Idah would likely be a loan anyway.

There is no way that we cant even spend a small fraction of that money on a permanent signing. We are surely not 13m (20m take Newcastles cut) over FFP rules, we need a permanent replacement and it will be dreadful if we dont get one. Its impossible to see anything other than a dog fight with a team full of kids and loanees this season.

Idah or Obafemi have got to come in on a permanent deal. A loan only pushes the problem 12 months down the road. From looking at both players, Idah looks the better player, although Obafemi is rapid.

£15m for Armstrong plus Idah on a permanent will do. Then we have to go about strengthening that defence and midfield, whether it's through loans or otherwise, because both areas look flaky right now.

Yes but 15mil plus a permanent replacement in Idah would be ideal. 

We are losing 20 mil per season so looks well over 39 million over 3 years allow under FFP.

I’d ask for £20m plus Idah on a perm and offer them a sell on fee. Same with Southampton and Obafemi.

The full £25m is a strong possibility now though.
