I wouldn't mind that lad Liam Delap from City if we're only looking at young loanees. Phenomenal record in PL2 and very highly rated. Was talking to a city fan in the pub on Friday & he said he's actually a big lad, not your typical teenager.

Plus, If we can get his dad to show him how to take a thrown in....😄

He’s going to Stoke on loan apparently.

Think we've possibly missed a good un there.

How many on this site have seen these young players in action? I know I haven’t so I don’t comment on them. Reading statistics and watching highlights don’t count.

Liam Delap is quite well thought of at city (from a City season ticket holder pal of mine) and he has played for them and scored, from memory!

He's 27, if he hasn't developed some composure by now forget it. For me, it's also one of those things which can only be coached to a certain extent - the core of it is instinctual and sadly he hasn't got it.

Defenders can peak late and in his case he's a converted midfielder that's probably why he hasn't quite got it.

next few years should be the time it all comes together but he's never going to be a Tosin or Ayala.  I guess it's just personal opinion though as having watched him from the kids i think he's a lot better than he was. To me he never looked like he'd settle in that position but iron out the rough edges and he has.

Every midfielder is a number 10 and number 9 in Mowbray's book.

Matty Longstaff is centre midfielder who can get box to box.

Could the number 10 be the Brighton lad? He was meant to be able to play wide/number 10

I'm thinking that before but wonder if its a British player playing overseas currently who we are signing

seems to be off to Stoke City on loan but has been reported that around half of championship clubs have been after him.

His dad Rory Delap is on the staff at Stoke as first team coach

Not sure I agree fully. I take your points on his limitations, but he is growing into a leader, wins a lot of dirty stuff and he is passionate about the club and the fans. Losing him would be very bad imo. I think he's good enough to play for a team near the top.

Near the top of what? He’s a dreadful footballer.

It's not highlights. Clips of every mistimed tackle, every missed header, every shot blazed over, every pass wayward, every yellow card given, every penalty conceded, EVERYTHING are available on these platforms. Sure on social media, highlights packages and fun clips of players scoring goals are going to do well and get shared for that reason, but if you spend an hour or two watching clips (positive and negative) on ONE player, you definitely know a bit about them.

It might not be the same as scouting a player in person, but you know what foot they use, what positions they pick up, what they're good at and not good at (in general).

I get the idea that data and video analysis isn't the same as watching a player week in week out, but surely you can see there's some value in watching clips of a player?

Mm, that’s a gamble I’m not sure I’d be taking.

don't want injury prone player.

but if Preston sign him I wonder how much the fans will see him enough. But they are struggling to sign a striker tho

Just hope we get in quality striker in this week

Liam Delap off to Stoke by most accounts
Ryan Hedges done his hamstring so don't think our interest in him will come to anything
Ali McCann they wan't £3m and this is supposedly a loan
Siriki Dembele they wan't £5m so I can't see that and this is supposedly a loan
Cole Palmer can't have been at Ewood he was on the bench and came on for City v Norwich
Morgan Rogers is off on loan to Forest with a view to buy

Who on earth can Waggott be on about? If it's the Brighton kid, that's awfully dissapointing.

Where on earth are you watching two hour long videos of kids playing for City’s academy sides?

Longstaff is a decent player but probably in the one position that we need the least. We have Travis, we have Johnson who although I would have released him, I actually think that his return is important to give us some leadership and experience, we have Clarkson who is not an attacking midfielder, we have Rothwell, Davenport and Buckley. We do need to add one which has to be someone to offer us a goal threat.

Everywhere else, a new recruit could be argued for. We have no serious alternative to Kaminski if he gets injured. We only have Pickering at left back, and at right back, Nyambe is injury prone, as is Rankin Costello who also may play further forward. We need at least one centre back, we need a goalscoring midfielder, we need width and we definitely need a striker. I doubt we will get all of that but the last 3 are priorities.

Wyscout for video work, Instat & FBRef for data.

A lad I know is a video scout for Villa (previously at that lot!) & literally spends all day watching these videos. On the back of this he recommends who the scouts should go & watch. As you said, it's not like watching a video a fan has put together on YouTube.

It's not like that at all no you're right. I've tried on the data in football thread to upload a screengrab video walking through the process on these platforms but I can never get the file size low enough to upload.

Seems like Blackpool want Dale from Crewe. Perhaps as seen many times before, 2 and 2 has made 5 based on social media activity. Was it that Schmidt last year or the year before in which an imminent loan deal was presumed because of twitter activity?

Well I found it a bit interesting that his Mum followed all those Rovers related accounts at the same time. I did say at the time that you can't read too much into it though.

More of a case of when.

Well the question was where, so I don’t know how it can be more a case of when. I spent an evening last week looking at some of the City and Utd potential loanee lot on Wyscout.

Probably mixed up Blackburn and Blackpool.

You’d have to assume a woman from Warrington would know the difference between Blackpool and Blackburn

It’s his decision making that lets him down, that aspect of his game hasn’t improved in all the years he’s been in the first team. He’s too easily drawn to the ball.

He has stuff he could improve, but he wins a lot of headers and dirty stuff that someone has to do. I think playing with Ayala will help him a lot.
