Attendances: A cause for concern

Recommended Posts

Don’t forget Waggott has stated several times that he “went to bat” for the supporters when discussing ticket prices with the owners. It’s them who have the final say.

As out of touch as Waggott may be with the fanbase, he’s got a lot more idea than billionaires from India.

Waggot may have more idea  of the supporters, than the owners. But he doesn't give a shit about the supporters, too the same extent as the owners.

I have no interest in what Waggott, Sylvester or Talbot have to say. I've seen and heard enough.

The game is at Ewood. Rovers set the prices and allocation. Rovers print the tickets and send them to Blackpool.

Well who is going to answer your questions you posted on here?

Blackpool have the tickets already and had them all last week. Just not put them on sale yet according to fans of Blackpool.

With the cost of living increase a hot topic at the moment, I imagine attendances will continue to suffer next season if the pricing goes up a fair bit. As much as I don’t think the price should increase, my guess is that it will….

Rovers should and need to factor this into the price of season ticket for next season and prices of club merchandise and food/drinks on the concourse.

Can I asked what has been discussed between the fans forum and the club around the price of next season ticket prices, different ticket schemes and cost of club merchandise/ food and drink within the stadium?

Waggott has already laid the groundwork for that one with his reference in the last Fans Forum to 'inflationary pressures' so I imagine he will point to the national inflation rate as justification to hike prices yet again.

Almost can't blame him really when it seems a majority of people online are still under the delusion that we are cheap and that Rovers have been effectively giving tickets away. With such rampant delusion embedded in the minds of so many with such little effort it is like taking candy from a baby.

A few have woken up to it now but a lot haven't and when they do they will simply stop going rather than kick up a fuss about it.

Just about the only thing Waggott has consistently delivered on in his time is an increase in prices across the board.

Proof will be in the pudding, he's demolished sales already and a miserable summer and further increase will only continue the trend.

Alot of it depends on people situation and what other costs they have. Going to Rovers is my main social event and I can afford it, but other people and supporters are struggling with costs of living and Rovers should take this into account and drop the prices of tickets for matches and season tickets this season plus a number of other schemes.

I would be offering Season tickets in Blackburn End, family stand area and the Riverside stand for £300, Jack Walker for £350 if you purchase before End of May as an Early Bird offer. After May Those would increased to £340 and £390. This would be adults. Any child under the age of 11 would cos a pound for season ticket for all areas. between 11 and 16 would be £25. Between 16 to 21 would be £100 and for seniors my price would £120 for Blackburn End and Riverside stand, 140 pounds for the Jack Walker stand. Also for any fan who purchase a season ticket under the early bird scheme would get a 25% reduction on a Home or away shirt to be purchase before the end of October. Also any season ticket holder under the age of 16 or senior would receive a 50% reduction on Rovers hat, scarf and gloves set

Match day prices would 15 pounds for midweek game but reduce to 10 pounds if you been to previous midweek game that season. Prices for weekend games would be 20 pounds but reduce to 15 pounds if you have been to previous weekend game that season. Also If any fan who has been to 5 games would receive a 20% of Rovers home or away shirt that season.

I suspect the hassle of being moderately successful for a third of this season and the trouble of trying to boost crowds and manage fresh expectation has got one or two yearning for a summer reset.

Back to 8k, max pricing, team of loans and kids with bigger earners and stars moved on. No expectation, no hassle happy midtable days.

Like Blackpool, Stoke on Easter Monday is Cat B.

Strange how the club has totally rowed back from the marketing guff around the ‘Final 5’ bundle which said how great value it was because all remaining home games would be Cat A.

I presume the threats didn’t work then and Swag has counted how many bundles were sold using his fingers and toes…

But Venkys cover their losses so that's why the club or the Venky's London Limited will never go in administration

thanks.

The club need to be more affordable and get fans back interested and back to Ewood Park who aren't like me. They need new ideas with new incentives. Plus need to get people interested at such an early age

Or, just have some success on the pitch. That will get people back.

The Rovers have come up with another classic. To eleviate cueing at the ticket office, they have taken away the option of getting tickets sent by post when you order on line ? This is one walk on that they have now lost.

Whilst it wouldn’t affect me, I did read this earlier on twitter and just shook my head. Just another barrier.

For those unaware - tickets ordered online for home games can no longer be posted or collected

How the heck does removing the option to have tickets posted out help to facilitate ... 'alleviating queuing times at the Ticket Office and collection windows on matchdays' ??

It's just more cost cutting.

I don't think it is even cost cutting, because they charged £1 to post the tickets out. I think it is an attempt at making, getting a walk on ticket more difficult, to try to get more season ticket sales, next season. It won't work with me, this regime is taking the piss.

This is a perfect question for the next Fans Forum

I mean this is beyond stupid. With people leading busy lives online is a very quick and easy way of doing it. Another barrier to lower sales.

It's almost as if they want to reduce the number of fans coming.

In the year of 2022 with IT and Social Media at its current peak the Club limit the online ticket buying options whilst encouraging the use of the telephone and allowing those who still use this medium of communication to collect at the ticket office.

(I am taking a stab in the dark here and assuming that such telephone calls/orders will be answered).

This fails all the logic tests that I can think of.

Do the Club have a special undercover department that specialises in gross stupidity.

Problems in the Blues Bar with queues - solution? Put prices up and charge more to get in

Problems with queus for tickets on matchday - solution? Make it more difficult to buy and collect tickets

Both will achieve the desired outcome - less hassle - just a shame it will probably also mean less people go and less money is spent at the ground.

Remember though - FFP!

Thinking this through from my own perspective....

Myself and my daughter have season tickets. Occasionally, a friend or two may come along, for whom I purchase tickets online and get them posted home. It's then a case of handing over the paper tickets on the day. Easy peasy.

In the new world, I'll now have to either print the tickets myself (a no go as I don't have a printer - who does these days???) or somehow download the digital tickets onto my phone and transfer them over to friends' phones so they can then swipe at the turnstile.

They've turned something simple into something complicated.

Another half baked scheme. The whole point about ordering on line during the week and collecting from the window at the club shop  on a Saturday was to avoid long queues at the ticket office. Generally at the window there was not offen a long queue. Now the queues to buy on the day can be expected to be longer. If you have no printer and a mobile phone that doesn't do qr codes you can't get your ticket till the Saturday and end up with a poorer seat away from the goal in the Blackburn end. How does this improve the supporters experience. Why bring this in now or are they so struggling for match day staff? Serious considering calling it a day and watching Chorley and Bamber Bridge!

I've arrived at the point where I think the people running the club (Waggott) would be quite happy to see people go elsewhere.

As long as he can justify his decisions to his bosses in India and keep himself on the gravy train until retirement day I don't think he gives a stuff about fan experience or getting numbers up.

If this latest scheme puts a few more off going who cares? At least it avoids him having to do anything down there to address queues and if he's really lucky he might be able to mothball the ticket office altogether.
