Problem for Rothwell  is if he waits and Bournemouth DO get promoted ( God forbid ! ) ,Bournemouth are then  in a position to buy a lot better upgrade than Rothwell.

I’d say so, yes. But very strange things tend to happen in the last days of January.

The idea that Rothwell is desperate to move down south to sign for a club lower than us in the division doesn’t make sense at all from any perspective. He could face the real prospect of moving to Bournemouth only to see Rovers go up instead.

Committing to another Championship club now makes no sense regardless of the wages. I could understand it if we were midtable but not when we’re above Bournemouth in the league. He’ll get far better financial offers in the summer when he’s a free agent.

I can envision this so easily...family member of Rothwell's thinks 'Joe's missus wants to go to Bournemouth, I'd best tell a random Rovers fan. Think I'll trawl on the FB page, pick one out and give em a ring.'

Alternate story, they know the fan and decide to tell them in absolute confidence. Fan then immediately splats it onto the ole' Face like the moneyshot on a porno. Their friendship will assuredly remain untarnished.

He may well have, however, living and working in a lovely environment, great quality of life, financially set for life and a happy wife!  Persuasive factors.

Acid test is tomorrow.  If Rothwell doesn't play he may well be offski.

For what it's worth I live not too far from Bournemouth and have a few mates who generally have a fair idea what's going on at the club and none of them think that it's a particularly likely deal to happen. Same logic as we're seeing here - 'why on earth would Rovers sell, why would the player commit early and risk picking the club that doesn't go up', no-one seems to have heard anything different that would change things.

One of my mates who is a lifelong Bournemouth fan wasn't even aware that they were in for Rothwell, but he does have a new baby so I'll forgive him not being completely on top of the football comings and goings.
