I mean you get some pretty stupid comments on here but.....

They would have easily disposed of that Southampton team under Dyche too, they were simply not up for it. Luckily for them they still have a few other teams to play who will already be on the beach too, much like half our players already are.

Which half of ours are on the beach ?

Getting the last-minute goals are Everton. Not a lot of skill but plenty of bottle. This is going to the last day I suspect.

I remember the last time Everton were in this predicament and in the last game of the season the opposite goalie phoned one in. And phoned one is being kind. Later on he just happened to pay £19,000 in his bank account, just a coincidence obviously.

All that said I absolutely would not expect any sympathy from Rovers fans in general, the rivalry being the way it has been these last 40 odd years. Personally I quite like the needle when we play, adds to the match day - but not the over the top stuff. And once the game is done I’d rather have a bit of banter over a pint and discuss the game.

It wasn’t one way you know, you do recall Rovers fans praying for our exit from the league - and then lauding Jacks wealth over us as we struggled in the lower divisions? I certainly do, and I remember the naked aggression from both sets of fans back in the day. I’ve seen people on here complain about Burnley Hooligans whilst also claiming Rovers fans regularly battered Burnley all over the place, can’t have it both ways really. The truth is both clubs, neigh most clubs, have/had their collections of knobbers. Equally every Rovers fan I know personally is a decent human who cares about their club as much as I do mine.

I agree to be fair, I do count a lot of Burnley fans as friends!

There is a definite gobshite element that were very vocal around the time of our demise that isn’t so easily forgiven…

I’m sure it happened many years back, but that was before my time!

I also have a lot of Rovers fans I count as good friends,, having been a member at Blackburn Rugby Club for over 40 years ...

Lots of good natured joshing, on the receiving end in the mid 1990's when Rovers were in their prime, although the odd opportunity for a dig back presented itself, Trelleborgs etc ... Things have rather swung the other way over the last decade, though, a fellow Claret was checking the scores on his phone at a 1st XV game last season, when a Rovers fan leaned in, " How are Rovers doing ? " ..... " Not sure, mate, I don't follow lower league football " ..

I would add that this season, we've not been quite so " brave " ... the thought of Rovers passing us by going up as we get relegated, is about as palatable for us, as it would be for Rovers fans should the situation be reversed ..

Enjoy the rest of the season all ....

I was surprised Burnley still have to play Villa twice yet.

I had sort of lost sight of that. If we can get results in our next 2 games Villa could be feeling nervous. That said they have an eminently winnable game before us against Norwich which would make them all but safe.

Still think it’s us to go down with Watford and Norwich but get a result Sunday and suddenly that most deadly of things, hope, creeps in again.

I hope you go down on the last day, by goal difference. That would be a killer.

I was actually born in Burnley.  I have never forgiven my parents.  I don't mind the dingles too much. Can't stand Preston.  Though I would be happy to see them relegated

Over the foreseeable future, you may well become a fore-runner of many. Whilst the East Lancs NHS Trust do have birthing facilities in Blackburn & Rossendale, any potential births within the Trust's catchment area considered a higher risk for whatever reason are now usually sent to the Central Birth suite, situated at Burnley General, where the specialist care is considered amongst the best in England ..

I was sent there because there was a blizzard and all the roads were blocked around Oswaldtwistle

The arrogance of Scousers

This, and the fact the fans protested against the Portuguese managerial appt and demanded Lampard, I would love em to go down, if only it didn't mean the dingles would be safe.

Lopping off all those extra fingers and toes adds up, evidently!

what will Burnley do over the manager situation and should they leave Jackson in charge or appoint a new manager? what would you do @longsiders1882 @sympatheticclaret? Also what do you think of your club interest in Slavic Bilic and Carlos Carvalhal? Would you be happy with either of them?

To be honest,  I wouldn't profess to know enough .... I don't think we need someone coming in and try to change systems, tactics and personnel at this point. The last two games have seen us revert to playing to our strengths, the return of Cork to midfield seems to have helped.

The one thing we'll always see from this squad is 100% effort, and we'll have to see if that's enough for a " Great Escape " ...

I can’t see them finding an interim for what will be the last 5 games after today, and if they did what realistically could he do differently? (Big) IF we can get a result today I’d imagine they will just see the season out as we are.

I seem to remember Carvalhal did ok with Sheff Wednesday but don’t remember much about this style, set up etc. Bilic I mainly remember from his West Ham spell where I seem to recall he started well. Can’t remember why it all went wrong. I can’t say either would inspire but then again when we appointed Dyche I was underwhelmed so I’m not the best judge. We do seem to be doing the whole ‘let’s get a foreign coach’ in. Not averse to it but it shouldn’t be a requirement.
