v QPR (h) - 26/2/22

Recommended Posts

Johnson has been the best of the bunch with Dolan and Khadra lively although the latter looks like his confidence in front of goal is shot.

We're pressing well in the last third but are too ponderous when we do win it back giving QPR time to get behind the ball.

A chance has to go in soon but the worry is they will score first.

Oh, and the lad Pickering has been appalling in that half.

I can't add much to what has already been said. Playing well and missing chances. The longer this goes on the worse prognostications are.

Johnson had half an hour to weigh up his shot. It was harder for him to do what he did rather than leather it.

Let's hope for more of the same with a bit of end product.

No he made a token effort while nearly breaking the keeper's leg

Look I'm not an SG fan, rather the opposite, but he actually played ok in that half.

And he did go for that Khadra cross but from too far out, hence he never got there., and there was little contact with their keeper who milked it.

I give up. I can only conclude we are doing this on purpose, and we actually don't want to score goals. How else do you make sense of such incredible ineptitude in front of goal?

I think the confidence when it comes to scoring has absolutely deserted us. They will know they haven't scored in a club record 5 consecutive games and it will be playing on their minds. They probably also know the huge portion of our goals that have been scored by the guy who is out for a while.

They need to overcome that pressure pronto. When we have a strong first half like this, whether we score in it or not, we usually have a much quieter second half.

Battered this lot first half, made them look very average indeed, if we get 1 we’ll hammer this lot.

As a side issue, I’d sign Ven Hecke right now if I could, quality that lad.

I think Giles might be able to play in kadara position and get those balls in the box maybe?

Get them in for who though? Gallagher who struggles to anticipate at the best of times and is usually somewhere on the right wing? Dolan who is 5 foot nothing? Trav and Johnson who score once in a blue moon?

All three centre-backs also struggle to head the ball on target, so I don't think the crossing game is one that'll bear much fruit for us.
