Is JDT really going to have the oompah lumpah's as his 2nd in command?  He must have his own men...that bit worries me and why didn't Hibs want him...?

The assistant manager role is free. So of course he won't have Lowe, Benson and Johnson as second in command even if he can't shunt them out.

I would love it if we could get Van Hecke back, i dont think he'll be in Brightons first team plans for the upcoming season. Surely a couple of million with a small sell on fee would get him.

I can't see them wanting any less than 5 million for him.

That said, we were told City would want something like 8+ mill for Tosin, then he moved to WBA for about 2.

Didn’t know which thread to put this in but it’s funny. For the last couple of weeks Nixon has been adamant that Kirchner was going to complete the Derby takeover and was shooting down any Derby fan who had obvious concerns as well as any media firm who was doubtful.

Well the deal collapsed today which Chorley FM reported was a possibility last week which Nixon laughed at, that tosspot chancer Kirchner has been exposed. Chaddys mate Nixon is less reliable than Chorley FM. Brilliant 😂 I hope Derby do get sorted out though of course 👍🏻

Think Van Hecke could be a summer signing if JDT becomes the new head coach...

Also interesting to see Ethan Walker joining up in training today after signing on a two year deal on a free from Preston. Big lad.

Would be a real Statement of intent and potential future captain, somebody to build the defence around for many years to come he openly loved his time here and his affinity with the fans.

que the ffp fairies to shut that little dream down....

Rohan Curtis now looks to be available for around 500k think he'd do very well in the championship, Although a RB and CB has to be our priority! (it would be very Mowbrayesque to start by signing attacking players then have no real money left to sign a quality experienced defenders)

To both of you, it is ok to agree in advance as I am sure often is the case at other clubs but that risk is still always there that the manager doesn't rate the players given to him.

If Tomasson does not request much in the way of picking players then ultimately that risk will be particularly prevalent.

I'm not saying that it can't work or won't work, just highlighting a big risk of such a structure.

Can you say which clubs this scenario has happened players that you describe please?

Ronan Curtis was being linked with Hibs today, or yesterday, I should say.

Genuine question, what's with all these Hibs and Rovers links emerging over recent months?

The bald one - drafted in at Hibs as some kind of Academy whatever.

Cocu - was linked with the Hibs job first, then the Rovers job next.

Mowbray - One time Hibs manager, was linked with them again after leaving Rovers.

Park - One time Hibs Youth Academy Director. Turns up at Rovers.

JDT - Apparently had talks with Hibs but they couldn't afford him. Now he is heavy favourite to be the next Rovers manager.

Ronan Curtis - Been linked with Rovers a number of times, now Hibs want him.

Is it simply a case of fishing in the same pond? Normally it would point towards that, but with somebody in place at Hibs, you can never be sure what it is.

I'm sure it would be the former but the latter is definitely a justified paranoia!

Everton and West Ham are 2 great examples of the big clubs off of the top of my head. Only since Moyes has arrived does it seem to have flipped around for Wham and come good - but I would be almost certain he wouldn't stand for having players forced upon him.

A great example of where it does seem to work is Liverpool but again, apparently Klopp has the final say AND Liverpool are now renowned the world over for their analytics and recruitment departments.

@chaddyrovers - do us a favour though mate and don't preach to people like you KNOW what the relationship will be between A.N.Manager and Broughton. You have as much a clue as me i.e. zero!

I also dont have a database of all clubs that have had a director of football. Even if my comments are just based on common sense, there is an obvious risk of the DOF and manager disagreeing on players etc and the additional role causing additional conflict. It could work seamlessly, but equally there are obvious risks that come with such a structure that only the more ignorant/deluded would totally dismiss out of hand.

We have to see how it develops the working relationship but given the Announcement Rovers have made and what Tomasson says that he is coach and wants to coach the team. That will leave Broughton and the recruitment team to sort out signing the players

Will JDT respect a boss with no real track record in the game.  Obviously JDT has played at the highest level and been managed by the world's best ......that's the bit that needs to gel.  Depends on JDT in my opinion and his ego...(if he has one)

So IF  he is not really involved in recruitment then there may be minimal risk of a power struggle. But as I said there is a risk (not a definite) that he will have players signed for him that he doesnt particularly rate or want, this is a risk with this type of structure in general not specific to Rovers. If you choose to dismiss this potential risk and assume that everything will work perfectly smoothly indefinitely then that is your choice. Considering how many mentions of a director of football you have given in the last few months it perhaps wouldnt be natural for you to acknowledge those risks.

Typical as they're the 2 new appointments, but I've had a look at Malmö & Bodo's squads contracts that are expiring.

Nikita Haikin (Bodo) as a backup GK looks to be a good option and he looks potentially good enough to step up if/when a bigger/better club takes Tommy K from us. Out of contract in December and would qualify for a work permit due to having British Citizenship.

Erdal Rakip (Malmo), North Macedonian international who can play in midfield and as a right winger. Out of contact in December and WP likely.

Obviously just from Googling but the Work Permit issue isn't as bad as it seems.

So current squad (that are ready to play championship football) is as follows:

GK's - Kaminski, Pears (not ideal but far more pressing matters)

CB's - Ayala for half a season, Wharton, Carter. Yikes. Need at least 2.

RB's - Brown. Another needed. JRC is shit.

LB's - Pickering. Edun is apparently better in CM and he's still shit. Another needed.

CM's - Travis, Buckley. Yikes again. Need at least 2, if not 3.

Wingers - Dolan, BBD, Markanday, Hedges. Not terrible, but you'd imagine BBD will be sold

Central attackers - Gallagher, Dack, Vale. At least 2 needed. Dack backup and another out and out striker.

May have missed some, but I don't think there's anyone glaringly missing from that.

Best get cracking.

Hope we try and get Hadzikandunic at Malmoe. Only 6 months left on his contract. Good defender. 24 years.

On loan from Russian side FC Rostov.

Due to ongoing situation re Russian sanctions, may not be possible.
