Buckley in the same sentence as.

Tugay.

Pub level in comparison but I agree our best "footballer" with "footballer's" brain.

Can only blame Venkys for how we went from there to here and why many of our remaining fans lap it up as our level.

People saying Rothwell was great. 3 goals in his best season. He was an awful player.

Defenders had better be coming soon.

If Ayala (our best player) gets injured at weekend we will be in big trouble.

In fairness he said in the Tugay mould that's all....

Next task is to get him smoking Marlboro and grow his hair.

You mean those runs that 9/10 ended with him surrounded by defenders and losing the ball? Buckley’s forward passing is a lot quicker and goes to a teammate more often. He got through the defence about three times all season.

100% spot on.

Ball moves faster than Rothwell. Simple game. "Let the ball do the work". Buckley was great early last season threading visionary passes. As soon as dickbrain moved him up front he wss anonymous. Rothwell was anonymous apart from 3 goals.

Give me a player who can pass the ball through a defemce, vesus one who can dribble through a defence, any day.

The former will be more successful than the latter, every time.

Correct. If the runner loses the ball he’s usually on the wrong side of the ball defensively.  If the passer has a pass intercepted he’s always still on the right side of the ball defensively.

The way Rothwell played last season helped us shed off the possession football the manager had foisted on us out of nowhere. Finally a move on from the likes of Evans, Trybull etc so for that he should have had our thanks.

I don't want to see it return.

Yeh but you said the latter will never ever be successful. Plenty of players have dribbled their way successfully through defences over the years. Playing a through ball is just alot easier it seems, because you do less work to get that ball moving from your foot to the next player

When we discover the new Bryan Douglas I may change my mind.

Ton Finney, who was in the Dougie league as a dribbler, used to tell a story about his time as an apprentice.

He was getting a reputation even then as a great dribbler. One day the trainer took him to one side. He said “ I’ll have a bet with you Tom. You see young George stood thirty yards away ? I’ll bet I can get the ball to him before you can “. Tom said “ You’re on.” The trainer said “ At the count of three. One, two, three, go “. Tom set off with ball but before he’d gone 5 yards the trainer had just passed the ball to the other player. He said “ I win Tom. “

Finney said he never forgot that lesson.

What do you base this on?

My eyes and ability to not just tell myself something I want to be true. Not enough assists, not enough goals, went missing so often, missed multiple one on ones, dilly dallied in possession countless times. You disagree?

So… any sign of any signings. Any rumours? JPVH? Anything? I honestly thought we would have 1 CB through the door before the trip to Swansea.

I can only think we’re waiting on Brighton to decide what they want to do. I’m sure people would happily wait a little longer to get our man than invest in someone who we haven’t seen.

Focus on getting Van heckle, then maybe a loan or free at the back.

I think what he's saying is that he doesn't rate Buckley, thinks he played badly last season, and is upset other people might think differently. Furthermore, he thinks people will continue to overstate how good Buckley is this season to make up for how bad he was last season, just so they can 'save face'.

He may need help.

Pretty accurate breakdown..no help needed. All the Buckley lovers quiet as mouse's for months last season have now reared their heads again.

Think you may need help.

Rothwell is criminally overrated by some people in here.

He was a decent Championship midfielder who I’d be be happy to still have but that’s about it. His end product was often poor and like some else mentioned his running up dead ends often left gaping holes in midfield.

Buckley has a much higher ceiling and will go far further in the game. I’d be genuinely shocked if Rothwell makes any sort of impact in the Premier League, whereas I’m sure that’s where Buckley will end up (ideally with Rovers!).

Not a big fan of breaking posts up Chaddy style but I thought this deserved its own reply.

Do you think being so patronising helps your argument?

That’s a fantastic list of all the things he and many other footballers do wrong at times.

There’s no point in me listing good things about his game, because despite @Mattyblue’s attempt to justify slagging players off without any actual balance, you’ve already come to a ridiculous conclusion.

Ill just put you into the “JAL” section of “posters I’ll try never to read or reply too again”.

Good day sir.
