If ever there was an opportunity to persuade BBD to sign up to new terms or hang around for the season our winning start was just that - momentum, positivity, new manager. Sadly the failure of the Club to back up the momentum and positivity with strengthening the squad in any way shape or form and allowing the situation to drift without even managing to add a single player to the ranks shows just what the intentions really are - the PL is not the ambition - if we had 'gone for it' over the last few weeks with 3-4 decent signings then that might have suggested we were serious about trying to maintain our form. What we have done shows we are not.

It’s just like when we got promoted. The massive feeling of euphoria, sell out game for our last match etc - all were dissipated within a few months.

Sounds like Hyam has been on the backburner for a while but has come to the surface because all our other better options - the Vans etc - have closed.

Someone explain why we're forking out £2.5m for a like for like replacement for Lenihan (who is possibly not as good) when we could have kept Lenihan if we'd paid him a bit more and would have cost us over the course of his new lengthy contract something like £2.5m?

The figures are from an expert quoting Waggott - so they need to be treated with caution

Anel: 23: Malmö: Bosnian international: highly regarded✖️

Ben Davies: 27: Liverpool: well regarded at Champ level.  Good enough to earn a prem move.✖️

JPVH: 22: Brighton: Dutch under 21: previous player of year.✖️

Dominic Hyam: 26: Coventry: played for Aldershot before joining Coventry in League 2.  ✔️✔️✔️

Hyam has been key part of the success there including 2 promotions there and experience solid Championship defender.

Why keep knocking him when you never heard of him a hour ago?

Ben Davies got a move to Liverpool but never played a PL game so let’s not overdo it. Sounds like Hyam is highly regarded so no complaints from me.

He's also possibly much better than Lenihan - some appear to have watched his performances with rose coloured glasses on. He was ok at this level, nothing more. Very clumsy and prone to switch off at the worst times.

Anel: Priced out of it.

Davies: Priced out of it (and glad to be)

Van Hecke: Lord knows what he's doing with his career if he's willing to go out on loan again

If we offer Lenihan a 4 year deal on £15k  a week more so we could guarantee he signs, that works out at an extra £3,120,000 over the 4 years. Then he’s the best paid and that’s the benchmark for our top performers. They then want that amount because we’re paying it to one player so we should pay it to them too. The wages could easily spiral or we don’t pay the player what they want and they bugger off anyway to a club that will pay it.

We’re attempting to replace like for like by paying small fees and lower wages than the players that left wanted. It makes financial sense but it won’t half make it a struggle to get out of this division.

Van hecke doesn't want another loan, hence why he still hasent signed the new extension from Brighton

This bid for hyam is a quite interesting, wonder who leaked it in the first place?

Your move Brighton.. your move indeed

No Coventry defender has stood out in any of the games we've played against them.

I'm sure he's ok but it's an underwhelming option.  Again.

I don't this attitude of calling any player underwhelming even before he sign here. I really do despair with this sort of attitude from Follow Rovers fans. He has 88 championship games in 2 season and 2 games this season that been played. He has been key part of their success at Coventry including 2 promotions and he is only 26 years old so his prime years should be here

Has they been plenty of good quality free agents out there I not so sure. Might be a few out there but not loads of them.

I have said they hasn't been alot of championship transfer business done in the last 2 weeks which is right. Teams who want players are waiting for them from PL like Boro did with that Fulham striker for weeks for example.

why would Szmodics, Brittain and Morton given that they have already signed for us.

I think we need 4 signings now and 5 if BBD goes. Its appears that Rovers want 2 centre backs, then I would look for another CM, Pressing striker and left side attacker to replace BBD if he does go.

wrong, its trying to keep a positive mental attitude and half glass full approach instead of this negative or worried. I don't start worried about about anything and its a approach that has served me very well in the last 20 years of life.

The name of a 80s Scottish rock band with Jim Kerr as the singer springs to mind!

A serious Football Club with a proper DoF makes one of Anel, Davies or Van Hecke happen.

A club with a setup like ours wastes £2.5m on an average centre back from Coventry.

If reports are to be believed, that's potentially £5m on Szmodics and Hyam combined. That's £5m down the pan, IMO.

Those reports aren’t to be believed though

My, you've written Szmodics off quickly. Did you do the same with Brereton or Rothwell I wonder?

To be honest I would be more than happy with 1 CB coming in this summer. Aslong as that player is of quality. Some people may laugh at that considering where we are currently at, however with Carter and Wharton set to return and Phillips set to sign a new contract then I don’t really see it as a problem position for us.

LB is actually my biggest area of concern. Pickering has lost his confidence and is no where near the player he was 9 months ago. Why we haven’t firmed up our interest in Styles is beyond me.
