Season tickets 2022/23

I've said before but I think it is a good thing that PNE and Bolton have both sold 13,000+ season tickets.

Why?

Because it destroys some of the myths that get circulated among the Rovers' support and corridors of power. Up to this point Waggott and co. and the legions of people who cannot contemplate criticising or questioning the official policy have been quite happy in their little world convincing themselves that sub-10,000 season tickets is natural, unavoidable, inevitable, impossible to better, and that anything higher is a private reserve for the big city boys or those who throw big money around.

Thanks to our neighbours that myth has been annihilated. It shows once and for all not just how appalling Waggott & his team have performed in the last 3-4 years (somehow presiding over a decline in sales at a time when rivals are increasing) but also more generally how terrible our sales have been over the last decade - never getting past 11,000 even in the 'good old days' of Gary Bowyer.

It goes to show that some semblance of a plan, joined up thinking and most importantly decent pricing can deliver much better than we've had and have been told is our lot in life.

Yes it is embarrassing, but at least it is ammunition to store for those who go on about the 'small town' stuff and 'we can't compete' nonsense. Well we can but that needs to start at the top, Ideally new owners but failing that a CEO and board with an ounce of ambition or pride.

I agree 100%

STs were put on sale a month earlier than usual and we were told sales were ahead of last year.

New manager bounce.... no. Rovers fans won't be mugged off by the same old Venky tricks. Its top class players we need on the pitch.

Signings... no. Just a lad from Barnsley. Can't even credit GB and JDT as we tried for him in Jan so was clearly from the Mowbray / Park list.

Marquee signings sell tickets but the custodians of our club won't understand that. So here we are 4 days from the opener, with sales less than last year.

Long gone are the aspirations of winning the £10K for 10K raffle. 10K is fiction.

Long gone are the Promotion Promises. Promotion is fiction.

Jack's legacy will soon be long gone as well. Along with the thousands of Rovers fans he filled Ewood with who have one by one had enough.

Question that I'm sure I know the answer to, but just to double check.

My dad now has a Senior season ticket, but often misses the first few games with being away on holiday.

Usually I have a mate that uses the spare ticket, with it being two adults theres never been the need to do anything. But now I assume he'll need to upgrade the ticket from a senior to an adult.

Does he just get charged the difference?

E.g. This weekend's game is £25 for adults and £20 for seniors.

Therefore he'd have to pay the £5 difference at the ticket office before hand?

I think you could be a bind here. I don't think the tickets are transferable so sharing of a season ticket is in essence in breach of the T's & C's so I don't think you'll be able to bump the ticket up to a full price one and pay the difference.

Just reading the T&C now.

It says you're allowed to share with a member of the family. I'll ring the ticket office for clarification.

Any chance you could count the current numbers sold for the QPR game on Sat.

I've heard QPR have shifted around 1.2k as of today..

With the WBA tickets also being on sale you will never get an accurate count as there is bound to be an overlap with that.

Just made the terrible mistake of reading the Telegraph comments about season ticket sales. Gave up quickly but here are some of the points made (some reasonable points on there too):

1) "£399 is for the Jack Walker isn't it? I'm sure that's what I paid for my daughter. Riverside and Blackburn End should be much cheaper."

Talk about ignorance. How do people like this get by in day-to-day life?

2) "Our season ticket prices have been steady for years."

Riverside 19/20 (pre-Covid) - £319 22/23 - £399/429. Steady?

3) "Bradford have 14k sales in L2 because they're a big city."

Seriously?! Is population the main factor? Was Blackburn twice as big a decade ago? Another poster attacked the comparison saying how silly it was to mention it because their tickets were cheaper so OF COURSE there's more uptake. Erm... That's kind of the point...

I used to think that people on there were defending the club for the sake of it but maybe they're just quite thick.

It doesn’t help when the likes of Sharpe will say ‘Rovers season tickets are £399’.

The cheapest ones were, if you were an existing ST holder. Large parts of the Jack Walker Stand and any new fan in any stand were paying up to a £130 more than that £399.

The fact that Waggot has stated that ST sales are 'above budget', it's clear that he's purely measured financially - by squeezing the remaining customer base - as opposed to being proactve and finding credible ways to increase bums on seats.

Job done, in his world. How he's allowed to get away with it, is unfathomable.

It'll be the same approach next season, no doubt. He'll cover the anticipated drop in revenue/churn with yet another price increase.

Oopsy! I googled an American city. Teach me to accept facts blindly! Oh well, let's try and salvage something:

Lancaster has a similar population to us. Are their crowds the same?

Haha, we've all done bad googling!

I think in fairness Blackburns is twice the pop of Lancaster. I think the best comparison to shut up the population twonks is Preston. A bit bigger than Blackburn but nearly twice the amount of ST's sold. Bradford is a bad example, but that's the LT comment pages for you!

Good post. If 1 person paid £2.5m for a season ticket and nobody else turned up he'd be happy. He's just wrong for our club. Simple as that.

That's exactly how he likes to operate.

Not really as the QPR and WBA are separate sales in the planners.
