Miles off it tactically. Just does not learn. Arrogant.

We’re not getting out this league knocking it around the back.

We wont get out of this league(relegation aside) with nonsense football ...

Lost to the better team today , no argument ..

But , we didnt half  shoot ourselves in the foot again, defenders defend not pussyfoot about ...

Play the fancy stuff in the opponents half ....

Get back to basics defensively and stop preaching the Pep bible , cos the players arent good enough...

Good to see wingers playing  for Burnley , have nt seen one for years , the best way to play football ...

Get the ball in the opponents box and see what happens ...

Another glaring problem , when we go behind it is game over ?? That is very  worrying ...

Preston up next , for JDT the honeymoon is over !!

If we have more of that served up I'd rather not witness the Preston game.

He could have the next twelve months and it still won’t work. You’re either a ball player or you’re aren’t. You’re either a tackler or you aren’t. You’re either quick or you aren’t. Those things can be improved marginally but at the end of the day you can’t turn the likes of Ayala into a Baresi or a Beckenbauer.

He's not trying to turn Ayala into Beckenbauer.

Our CBs aren't being asked to play make - just play the ball forward to a team mate. The problem we suffer from, at times, is that our midfield isn't good enough off the ball and in possession.

It's s no coincidence that it all clicks when A. Wharton is on the pitch - he finds pockets of space and has the touch / vision to move the ball on to someone in a better position.

I like Travis as a player, but he can't do that. I thought Buckley would thrive in this system too, but so far no dice.

Sounds like the owners don't want to get out of this league they just want a gaffer adding value to young players.

Mowbrays answer was stick them out of position to try and improve their weak points instead of playing to their strengths.  JDTs answer is to get them playing in their own box and hanging onto the ball unless a backwards pass is available.

Yet the owners hang on to better players resisting cashing in and allow money to be spent on Hyam, Brittain etc.

NON of it makes sense. just who is so determined inside Ewood to put the brakes on and insist a water treading softly softly approach.  One were promotion would almost be by accident instead of design ?

Which is fine but then, why keep trying it, when we don't have the midfield to pull it off?

Like today, it just causes problems for ourselves.

Because its a 'project' and when you have a job at a club where no one gives a fuck about anything you can do whatever you want whether it works or it doesn't.

Want to spend game after game just aimlessly passing the ball around in your own box? Fine we don't care.

Want to sign players just so you can waste half a season playing them out of position? Go for it.

Want to place blame on the fans or whatever bollocks you can come up with when things don't go your way? Fine by us, we don't give a fuck, we get paid either way.

Venkys out.

Just out of interest - who saw that team coming this morning ? How many of us had that 11 down as our starting line up ?

Not me for one.

I think the performance against West Ham swayed his judgement.  In his interview after that game he said that the players he picked on the night have proven they can be trusted or words to that effect.

But he made loads of changes from the team that won the previous game...?🤷‍♂️ doesn't make any sense to me....

I like the guy but today I'd have definitely done a better job as manager .

Agreed.

JDT turned down Champions League football to come and sit on a cushy number at Ewood Park. He's definitely not an ambitious personality - you can see that by his so-so playing career and walking away from Malmo after winning back to back titles looking for a bigger and better opportunity.

He's just topping up his pension fund, the bastard.

So-so playing career? The guy won a champions league and is joint top scorer for his country! 😂 Today was a disgrace and he should rightfully be taking a bit of slack for that, but for me he’s still the right man for the job and I’ll be backing him until that changes. Third in the league with a squad that should be nowhere near that position.

I’ve got my doubts and nothing today has made me think again. He’s not getting the best out of what we’ve got so far.

@Exiled_Roverwas being facetious but he also missed the poithat I was making.

Rightfully Tomasson should be in the office first thing on Monday to receive a sever bollocking from the CEO.

That's what would happen at any club or business where people give a fuck. I would be amazed if I heard anything of the sort happening at Rovers.

Oh well just shrug our shoulders and plod on. That retirement pot isn't full yet.

In certain games he’s definitely not getting the best out of what we’ve got, but what we have got as a squad is a mid table championship team with one class player who scores goals out of nothing at times, we’re 3rd in the league which with the squad we have is an over achievement if anything.

I just think the style of football we play doesn’t suit the players skill set. Just my opinion.

I looked at this the other day but the amount of points we have at this point of the season is about the same as last season.

I don’t think we’ve really improved or progressed much from Mowbray’s squad or tactics and certainly haven’t ditched the dreaded tombola.

The only thing that remains to be seen is whether we have a similar post-January window capitulation or not.

I think it's just 3 points more

The league's averageness, as in crap, has compressed the league and the table provides odd readings.

This should rectify itself over a full season and the cream will rise.

Whatever we do or do not do in January will not match anywhere near what others can and will do in the transfer market.

I've not posted in a decade, but just felt that I wanted to comment now. I'm a big fan of what JDT has done, and in particular, appreciate the uplift in spirit and atmosphere that he has brought since joining us.

I've watched our other abject away displays, but yesterday was the first time where I have been really, really disappointed. The selection was baffling - I can understand excluding Adam Wharton, but dropping Scott?! Think Pickering would also have felt hard done by, given his improvement over the last month or so, and having built up a good partnership with Brereton on the left. I really thought JDT would have come out to apologise for that non-performance after the game. I suppose he tried to do so in his comments, but I thought something more explicit was required given the circumstances. I'm prepared to back his calls, including on Dack, but this was a situation where he needed to hold up his hands, in my opinion.

Anyway, having cooled down overnight, I'm telling myself to not lose sight of the bigger picture. For me, JDT has done very well overall for the first half of the season, and I would give him an A- just based the outcomes he has delivered so far. I'm sure he's not here for a lark, and that every game/result matters to him. I buy that he sees us as a project, but at the same time, I don't buy that he's not shooting for promotion this season. (Even yesterday, watching on ifollow's feed, did anyone catch JDT's reaction to a Buckley mistake down the touchline shortly after coming on? It was a blink and you'll miss it moment, but he was Fergie-mad and jumped off his chair.)

This defeat will have hurt, even if he doesn't say so overtly. The unknown is how JDT and the team reacts after the WC break. I'm quietly optimistic that we will not have a death spiral like in recent years. A big factor would be whether we are able to make a couple of astute additions to the team in January, and this is not on JDT alone - I'm hoping for a striker and a midfielder. The league is so close this year, and you never know what could happen.

I think that's a pretty spot on assessment. There's some who arent happy unless they're moaning and have written JDT after the first defeat. However he's done a good job and we're exceeding expectations but yesterday was bad, bizzare selection, continuing to play out from the back when it had screwed us a couple of times already and just a lackluster performance.
