Either the Raos have given GB and JDT as much as they can within the rules or JDT will be on his way.

Yes the January window was a disaster in terms of bodies actually arriving but on 30 January we were on for the best window since the days of Tom Finn and John Williams. So I am confident the recruitment team can do a top class job if Swag gets the allocation of responsibilities for paperwork right.

Whatever the budget, the mood music has to be hair shirts and penury irrespective of discussions between Pune and Brockhall.

It says a lot about owners who are in your opinion within the very best in the division that merely nearly signing 2 loanees (one who was unobtainable) has you eulogising about potentially the best window in their tenure.

Surely the summer we came up was up there, we signed 2 players identified that could have generated between them a huge profit had the aforementioned owners not refused to then sell one of.

Ifs buts and maybes.

We're good at those.

Why couldn't we get someone else instead after he was no longer an option?

We did try to sign Ibrahima Koné on loan FC Lorient and he was sent to come over here for medical but circumstances changed cos Nice wanted to buy their other striker Terem Moffi  from them for 20 million pounds meaning that deal didn't happen. I agree we should have sign a striker in January. even on the last day, we should have still had a back up like Maybe get Rhodes in for 6 months from Huddersfield or asked Fulham could we have Rodrigo Muniz on loan and take over his loan deal at Boro cos he hasn't played there.

Here is a novel idea. Get the transfers and deals done earlier, don't leave it until the last few hours. If you get knocked back early in the window look at the next target.

That is what we have a recruitment department for.

the problem with that is when you are looking at loans only we are more reliant on the other waiting to green light the move

Which makes no sense at all when he was still training with Forest on the afternoon of January 31st. He was allegedly told of our interest, got showered and changed and hot footed to Manchester. If it was set up beforehand why was he even training on deadline day.

Forest wouldn't release him until they had signed the player they want which was Andre Ayew who they signed that afternoon

Surprised it wasn't earlier posted on here. I believe Russell Martin is the other one being touted and was reported last week.

I'm not sure he would, huge rebuilding there.

I would think Feyenoord from Holland is a bigger threat in taking him if their lose their head coach

I agree. A couple of years ago, Jon was interviewed by Danish media about his ambitions as coach. He stated that his biggest ambition was to return to Feyenoord as head coach and win the title, as he did as a player. Recently he told some Dutch media, that he is building a new house in Rotterdam. If he is offered the job at Feyenoord, I think he will be very tempted, as his family are still living there and they are building a new house.

He has also mentioned that he would love to return to Italy.

Personally, I dont think he will be leaving Rovers this summer, if he does, it will be because of the fall out with GB, and if he is offered the job as head coach at Feyenoord. And I dont think that his long term ambition is PL, his ambition is to qualify his team to PL, and then he will be off to Holland, Italy or another european country.

Please excuse my poor english  🙂

‘The road to success and the road to failure are almost exactly the same’

Colin Rex Davis

Well, Colin Rex, just compare John Williams,Tom Finn and Mark Hughes to Paul Agnew, Derrick Shaw and Steve Kean.

..Even Benny Hawkins could spot the different roads!

Just listening to GB on Radio Lancs- ignoring all the fluff and flannel- it does sound like he expects JDT to leave...

I think it was more he might leave...his kids are over here looking at schools, and it appears that a decision was always going to be made by JDT after his first year here regarding whether his family would join him here...it seems that decision may be central to whether he stays or not.

Or, maybe , it is easier for The Egg to play a family card than the January cock-up...

Just have to hope Spurs look elsewhere than Arne Slot...

Feyenoord would be the ideal job for JDT I'm afraid for personal and career reasons, that's if they feel his CV is worthy at this present time, I imagine they would do.

More speculation about Tottenham and Slot this morning.

Some of Broughton's quotes make me think JDT is likely to be going. I suspect when he says "we are in a very strong position", he's referring to the fact that there are another two years left on JDT's contract which would give us decent compensation if he does go.

Then again, would JDT bother going to India if he was definitely wanting to go? I wouldn't have thought so.

I think there is a big month and a half ahead for the club. I've no doubt that we'll get approached, and I think Broughton will want to get a good amount of business done before JDT sees another terrible transfer window unfolding by the end of June.

However, if JDT does goes, I'm reasonably happy that we'll find a much better replacement than we have in general under Venkys. Another JDT-type would be fine by me, and I suspect Broughton has a secret shortlist of potential candidates. Basically, the club is far-better prepared than it was a year ago, which is some comfort.

I’d be surprised if JDT begins the season. If Broughton speaks in the boardroom like he does to the press, we’re going to struggle to keep any manager.

I hope he doesn’t do any team talks.

What a harbinger of doom.

Never volunteer for the Samaritans Gregg.

"No official contact".

Wow, how re-assuring!

Official contact would only be made when a deal has been all but done between the hiring club and the manager's agent.

Gregg Broughton - there's a political party missing a spin doctor, somewhere.

No reason to think JDT won't continue to work as normal unless an offer comes in for his services from elsewhere, at which point he would obviously have to consider his future. I think the only conclusion you can draw from him preparing for the new season is that he isn't planning to resign. One imagines he would already have done so by now if he was going to.

Well, that's Greggs new name as far as I’m concerned.

What a fucking circus.

Chicken chokers, Maggot and The Egg.
