I know he’s fairly unpleasant but Nathan Jones is unemployed. Does better with a small budget and is fiercely competitive!

Absolutely not. I'm not doubting what Jones has achieved, but we've worked for a year on a style of play. You look for someone to continue the good work JDT has done rather than throwing it all out the window. Same would apply if Ainsworth was still available.

As an example, just look at how badly Jones did at Southampton. It was a complete change in style for the squad. There needs to be an element of consistency in replacement managers. The core idea is the same but with a few fresh ways of implementing them.

Mowbray might be available

That's a BRILLIANT IDEA 💡

He's worked wonders at Sunderland, got them on a great journey, I reckon he'd be AMAZING as our gaffer. Bet his pressers would inspire us all 👍

Can't really grumble that JDT would leave to go to Feyenoord, Dutch champions and champions league football.

Here's your chance to all laugh at me... There's only one person I'd want... Steven Gerard.

Without Beale? No thanks after he left so did SGs talent...

The issue I'd have is, if we lost JDT we'll take all of the pre season to bring a new manager in.

JDT was brought in very quickly once Broughton was appointed.

If we had Waggott in charge of the process I'd agree with you. But if we look at the evidence since GB arrived. We appointed a good manager and did it efficiently. It's the biggest thing he's got right in his job so far. And this will be one of his biggest tests, to repeat what he managed again.

Have not enjoyed the football at all this season, all too predicatable and bland, whilst his ability to change games for a positive outcome 95% of the time has been found wanting.

We've got better as the season has gone on and the football has been excellent at times. We've also got better when we've gone behind as the season has gone on.

Full confidence in us having a good season next year if he stays and GB brings in the players we need.

There's nothing in Nixons JDT article that we don't already know.

Having read it, I agree. It's just a several lines of linking him to Feyenoord for the obvious reasons. And that we had earmarked Russell Martin as his replacement.

Well, let's hope this is over sooner rather than later. We really don't want this dragging on beyond the next two or three weeks.

Glen’s view is definitely one you hear a lot at the ground (despite it being our best season in a decade). Would be a real blow if he goes as I think we’d see the best of his methods next season - but if he went today I doubt many tears would be shed across the fanbase.

Stats dont lie, just 6 points from losing position over 46 games

The Russell Martin one doesn't take much dreaming up either. Broughton used to work at Norwich and Martin played there for many years.

The thing is, I can believe that he's on "the list". He appears to like possession-based football to little effect, which the owners have a fetish for.

There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that the owners want a certain style of football. I think it's partially why we have been largely rubbish during their tenure. Leave it to the football people.

But our league position and points tally has got worse. I once got an award for being the most improved player of the season. All that meant was that I was shit to start with and got to be less shit.

Not disagreeing, just saying we improved as the season went on. We also finished a coventry goalkeepers punched goal from the play-offs. Our best finish since we went down and with the right players every chance we'll be up there next season. He's clearly a good manager.

One of the risks of hiring a manager with a reputation in the game is that they're going to attract attention quickly if they've done a decent job in their first season. I've been somewhat resigned to JDT leaving since the January fiasco, so whilst I'll be disappointed if he does go, I won't be surprised.

As far as getting in a replacement, I think Broughton has a good idea of the kind of manager required, but recent revelations about Venky's calling MGP for advice on who to select for the position is obviously a concern. Ultimately it's still their call and I don't trust them at all.

Not a huge fan of jdt.  But he's been by far our best manager since the chicken pluckers turned up.  Losing him would mean going back to another chancer.  We need to keep him at all costs

😲 That's an extreme change of opinion form just a few weeks ago: "Jdt can fucking resign. Fuck off you gormless bastard"

In the cold light of day to those looking from the outside the speculation for a guy who finished the season with 2 wins in about 10 and finished 7th with a club who finished 8th last year is understandable but maybe a bit over the top.

So... it's either just column filling BS and pot stirring by the usual suspects or his agents are busy trying to flush out a new gig somewhere.  He'll have known a while there's no brass to spend at all unless they engineer some but i doubt there's anyone he actually wants to lose from this squad.  Also i doubt he has much faith in those above him after seeing how it works and he'll no doubt be aware of the prospect of 10k or less home turnouts due to the shoddy ST pricing.

How far does he think he can take this club now after his new manager bounce season ?

The club brought JDT in and if he goes you have to safely assume they can hire as competently again.

Wouldn't want Russell Martin myself.

There is one good thing coming out of all of this. How long is it since Rovers had a manager that had attracted interest from clubs with better opportunities? I think Hughes might be the last one. It's not the worst position to be in. Same goes for some of our players. At least the club is doing things far better than it was, even if it's far from perfect.

Jesus Christ,we'll all take great comfort from that!
