Anyone taking JDT now will have to pay compensation i assume so would Stoke do that as well as guaranteeing him a Jan/Summer budget ?

Doubtful imo.

Would 750k be the decision maker when it comes to a new manager? I would imagine they would be happy enough to buy out his contract.

Coupled with a budget they might has to promise him and the length of deal ?

Not many second tier clubs pay compen and put those sort of packages together these days.  Especially for a guy with just one English season under his belt and no promotions whose team currently sit mid table.

Client of mine has hospitality facilities at Stoke and is close to the club.  He reckons new manager will be either Heckingbottom (impressed how quickly he turned it around at SU to get them up) or JDT (admired for his football and results given what he has to contend with).

It's a super opportunity for someone given the backing of the Coates' family.

If they decide they want JDT, he'll be gone.

Friend lives close to the Neil home in Longridge but not seen him yet.

None of the Rovers hierarchy, Waggott aside, would be willing to let JDT leave right now.

So I assume we'd play hardball (assuming our hierarchy are capable) if Stoke made any approach.

I don't know what Stokes expectations are but if they are expecting a promotion push and believe JDT is the man to deliver that, then they'll already know that they need to pay out some compo.

JDT doesn't even feature in the betting (on skybet) for the next Sunderland manager but they might go for Eustace, pushing JDT higher up the Stoke wishlist.

Agreed, he’ll definitely take it if given the opportunity.

Stoke have been a shit show since they got relegated from the premier league.

In my opinion it is not a formality that JDT would take the Stoke job.I don't see the upside to it.A club in a higher division, a club challenging promotion I could see but I wouldn't be so sure he would accept the Stoke job with a poorly balanced squad and not shown much this season.

The Coates back their managers with more cash than the Venkys do and are obviously better owners than ours but Stoke have been poorly run for a while now, a succession of managerial appointments not working out and their recruitment has been fairly poor. They signed 16 players in the summer is a new manager going to have a large kitty?

His reputation is on the up surely he sees the season out and has a look at opportunities in the summer?Rather than taking a stoke job that countless managers have been sacked out of since Pulis

There is zero logic in JDT going to Stoke Fucking City.

He's ambitious and wants to manage in the top divisions; Rovers are more likely to get there than Stoke in the immediate future.

JDT will not be going to Stoke.

I am starting to lose confidence in JDT. I don't think we are playing good football, it certainly doesn't entertain me. I didn't go to the Leeds game, I thought £30 was too expensive. After tonight £20 was too much. I wonder if £11 for the Watford game will be value for money.

10 wins v 10 losses but we are 8th again with the highest number of loses in the top 10 !

Kamikaze is the best way to describe it and that is his style -at least we have one now. There are things i feel he should improve on and his use of subs and often in game management are poor too often imo.

However he wants the team and individuals to learn so i can understand in a way why he does or doesn't react at times. Sadly that is what they've now made the club into, just a development squad but at first team level.

It's virtually impossible for him, more than ANY other before him under this ownership, too move it forwards or make impact subs working with what he has.  So although frustrating it's harsh to expect much else at the min.

Too many losses but if we had 6 and 6 wins with 9 draws or whatever we wouldn't have lost as many but we wouldn't be 8th.

We'd be in Bowyer territory ( who had way bigger budget and squad ).

That i found was mostly v boring despite a bit of welcome stability.

Similar feeling, never really been won over since he came. The guy has some sensational PR team the way he is talked about and the links to jobs in the media.

It’s good to have an identity but we don’t have the budget or players for it. I’ve lost count of the goals we have kicked in our own net like last night from trying it. When we go behind we stay behind and rarely make any subs till it’s too late.

I only attend home games but it’s been turd since he came in at Ewood. There was probably 7-8k on last night which gives you an idea of how exciting it feels to come down at the moment.

The crowd last night tells you nothing. We always, always get turnouts like that for midweeks in winter. We have a paltry 9,000 ST holders plenty of who will give such games a swerve, also you don’t get many walk-ons or kids going in midweek ergo far less folk there than a weekend. Generally our gates are a bit up on recent years, nowt to write home about, obviously, but there’s certainly been no drop off under JDT.

You keep banging on about ‘PR’, ‘hype’. It’s a results business and he consistently gets them with a squad as weak as this, just look at the bench. You think we should be doing better?
