Jon Dahl Tomasson - Officially No Longer Our Head Coach

Recommended Posts

We don't know the reason,  but you'd presume he's either just fuming and they don't want the reasons out there or he's going because he feels the club doesn't match his ambition and its saving his reputation, which is rapidly diminishing through the current form . Neither reflects well on the club. I can't recall a time a club has stopped their own manager talking to the media!

The past few days have left me exhausted and I'm just reading this message board and following the club from a far. God knows how JDT feels having to deal with the club in person and the BS being said to his face by those within.

How much involvement does he have with the transfers? Does anyone know? Does he just ok a short list? Does he go to games outside of Rochdale? Has he got his iPad in his hand, spittle flecking at his mouth, a much-watched clip of some young 75 goal a season striker from Lapland on the youtubes, screaming and swearing at Gregg and Steve "I want Jesper Scorealot" whilst they sit there with their earplugs in looking at Disneyland Orlando on Google streetview?

Who-fucking-knows

well, they stopped former directors and players with NDA's...allegedly!

Spent today thinking about our incomings and I’m more distressed about it.

Add up the incoming and outgoing fees and wages, and Wharton needn’t have been sold for any of the other business to happen.

I think GB/JDT were told they’d need to sell significantly to raise funds (and contribute to the club finances), did so, and were then told ‘actually, no’.

Just my hunch, based on the maths of fees/wages. I’ll reiterate, every other piece of business in and out could have been done without selling Wharton.

I think it’s as simple as court adjournment = Wharton departure.

But does that take into account any bills due before the next Indian court hearing ?

It does seem like the endgame is approaching fast in regards to JDT's tenure with us. If he's been blocked from speaking to the press then he is clearly absolutely furious. It's hard to come up with any other plausible explanation.

This means he clearly doesn't rate the business we've done. With that being the case it'd be pretty awkward for him to coach the side going forward, you'd think. I just don't see how this ends well.

If he leaves now, he's lost a lot of respect from me. No matter how hard done by you feel, stick with it until the end of the season, you've just signed your fabled striker and some experience, better than most cash-strapped clubs, you love the fans or so you say - keep us up and walk head held high, then stick the boot into the owners and CEO on the way out, NDA depending.

He's just another moody ex-pro throwing his toys out of the pram. Yeah, we're all fucked off by the Venky's, but do your job for the squad you have.

If he's upset at Wharton leaving, has he been living under a rock? Maybe the reason why we've been shipping so many goals is we're hedging all our bets on a 19 year old kid who is/was still learning to deal with the physicalities of the league. Poor management for me that.

Some people think it's great he "tells it like it is" and that he's not afraid to upset the apple cart, I think it creates issues within the squad and is irresponsible - a manager is meant to protect the players, not constantly undermine them.

I have a soft spot for him as he's brought some identity back to the club, the cup runs, his charisma, and I'd love him in a world of no consequences or reactions to spill the beans, but come on, the man is arrogant, you can see that by the way he refuses to change the way we play even when we're clearly under the cosh and regardless of the opposition.

A sad day if true all round.

You ask if he's been living under a rock, but you seem like you're living on a different planet if you think the conditions he's working under are acceptable.

He said the other day that Wharton going is a possibility so I doubt that's it. It'll be that we've brought in a crocked 32 year old and a kid who failed at Coventry to replace him. The striker we've brought in won't be ready to play for 2-3 weeks, and we've spent barely anything. All the frustration leads back to pune, who seem nonchalant about our plight. So I don't blame him for being despondent or wants to leave.

I'm glad he's arrogant, I'd rather that than a yes man like Bowyer or even worse, Coyle. And both of those had it better than JDT.

It’s the third window in a row, I think he’s every right to leave with his head held high. I’d have your view if it were last January.

It's worth noting that only this week, Andy Bayes said that JDT had confirmed to him that if AW was sold, he would be loaned back to the club for the remainder of the season.  Make of that....

If he's been assured of that then he's entitled to be a bit miffed, along with the rest of it.

Also worth noting, may well have been lost in all the drama of yday that McGuire currently isn’t match fit as he was only just part way through pre season with Orlando. Could well be another 2/3 weeks before he’s fit enough to start a game, which leaves us paying £700k for a 10 week loan.

Orlando only started their pre season training on January 15th, so just about 2 weeks ago. Also Duncan's pre season has been interrupted by transfer speculation.

Yes he stuck with it over the O'Brien fiasco/not bringing in a striker last January.

It's hardly a fucking warzone though is it? Typical over-reaction. I'd hate to have work with someone like you.

Did he not do his research before joining? Fair enough if he's been kept in the dark about the financials and always been the last to know, I'll give him that - but what kind of club did he think he was joining? Either fuck off to Brentford if you want a project or keep your toys in the pram and make us win football matches.

Show me a club outside of the parachute payment pack, and the ones with big matchday revenues, who have totally bossed it in the league regarding transfers. Hull, Ipswich probably. Who is out there? Where are these 15 goal a season strikers and midfield generals for under a mill that everyone is talking about? No, nothing

The truly sad thing is JDT is the right man at the wrong time - if he would have had our transfer policy under Bowyer, Mowbray etc we'd be in different place. That I will agree on.

He played for the USA on 20 January (albeit 30 minutes).

I wouldn't be too worried about his match fitness. He'll play as soon as he's cleared by the authorities imo.

Reminds me of the Lambert situation when we sold Rhodes. History repeating itself and I wouldn’t blame JDT for leaving at this stage. He did his best but he’s a professional dealing with amateurs, and when he isn’t given the tools to do his job he can call it like it is and leave with his head held high imo.

JDT was very throughout the window with his line that the squad could not be weaker at the end of the window.  He said that phrase in nearly every interview when quizzed about transfers.

I don't think the squad is weaker.

We have, however, just sold our best player.

Or maybe he is just too busy welcoming and having talks with the new players before tomorrows match, and doesn´t want to be asked questions about tranfers, he can´t answer?

Maybe the club is actually looking out for him by avoiding him to have to answer questions about something out of his control?

I don´t know, but it is all very weird. I don´t think JDT will leave right now, unless there has been some sort of serious fall out. I think he will stay for the rest of the season and leave in the summer.

If has any sense he will quit now before his reputation is damaged beyond repair the alternative is taking us to league 1 if not this season then next....

What a mess.....
