The fact he's had all his best players taken away and replaced with shite, if replaced at all.

Luckily there are none of these "excuses" with the new fella, he must just be a shit manager.

Personally I don't think losing to Big Club and drawing with Preston is anywhere near good enough.

For all JDTs failings at least he was honest in saying he hadn't been given the tools he needed for the job. The new fella says he has. So why the fuck didn't we win these two games then?

You've answered your own question there really, the squad isn't good enough the powers have let too many go and not replaced them.

So any manager is up against it here now it doesn't matter who they are or what tactics they apply.

Some might think it is being dewy eyed about JDT etc, but he's the best person to walk through the door under Venkys reign.

Articulate, charismatic, honest, intelligent, ambitious, respectful. Eustice is a major downgrade. At best he might reach Mowbray levels of being able to get us plodding on, but we've gone from a man doing all he could to raise the standards and expectations at Rovers to a bloke grateful to have a job.

Another downgrade, another watering down of the standards of our great club.

Well worded and sums up how I feel.

Best will in the world, Eustace is another middle of the road plodder; another Mowbray.

JDT (to me) represented a chance to do something different. A proper style of play / identity.
Some ambition, some optimism that he might drag the club - kicking and screaming - to an upwards trajectory.

But now he's gone, the best I can feel about the club is ambivalent. When Preston's goals went in today, it barely registered with me.
That situation is usually a gut punch, but now it's just...meh.

Probably the best man for the job though or should i say the best type of manager for the job at this moment in time.

Sadly his task is clearing up the people running the club and if we are honest JDTs mess.

Trouble is with guys like JDTs style it always goes one way or the other there is no in between, Waggot and co however just love an inbetweener it keeps their cushy numbers safe.

Exactly, the question was somewhat rhetorical.

This bollocks about having the tools already and no excuses is ridiculous.

Our squad is probably the weakest Rovers squad ever. That is 100% on the owners.

JDT said out loud what we all knew. For me he's a proper Rovers legend for doing that.

Gotta agree with many of the comments.. and although results were going against us in the last few months,  I'm shocked how quickly our standard of football has reverted back to Mowbray style.. mundane and boring.

Some of the football under JDT really was the best I have seen in my 17yrs watching Rovers live.. just a few tweaks needed, yes we were on a terrible run, but a bit if backing and few extra players we would have been fine.

I'm massively missing the style we were playing and not going to lie, feel like we have gone massively backwards as a club.

Listen you can't get the right manager without the right owners, that's how football works.

Fellow fans and their inability to see we need new owners are really pissing me off at the minute. It has done for 14 years.

Either get used to bog standard football and bog standard managers OR good managers that want to leave, IF you aren't going to turn on the ownership... because that's all you're getting for the next 14 years too if they don't fuck off.

You are NOT going to see a good manager with ambition, that plays good football, be backed to succeed. That vital combination will NEVER happen under Venky's. There isn't an unsolved mystery here.

Very hard not to be dismissive and insulting to these people. Is so fucking obvious where the cause of all the problems is.

For a while there I thought we were a club starting to play the beautiful game and a philosophy in place at all playing levels of the club.

Then BANG all over in an instant and back to being a pub team again.

The Punatics don’t care and don’t have the wherewithal to run a professional football club.

They are immune to criticism in their protected pavilion in the hills above Pune.

Saving face in front of their Peers is their priority.

The way we where playing under JDT, would need more than a few tweaks to stop the alarming number of goals we were conceeding.

Playing the beautiful game of passing triangular tippy tappy with inferior players who can't do it consistently is the road to ruin.

It's the owners fault for not providing the quality of players needed to do it.

It's the coaches fault if he tries it with players who can't do it and doesn't have any alternative plans.

Under Eustace we were simply awful at Brum.

At Preston and for 30 minutes we dominated with a good mixture of passing and long ball and scored 2. We fell apart as Preston scored a worldie and a shit goal.

The 2nd half we were dominated but defended well but were never really able to engage our forward players. Long ball to the likes of Dolan and Siggy is as much use as pissing in the wind.

If Eustace can keep us up this season and can develop at least a plan A and a plan B he'll do fine.

Football is all about results and in my opinion the manner of winning is immaterial. Under this ownership and the presumed power struggle we are never going to be anything more than a mid table Championship club and from that perspective Tomasson was ideal as even in defeat we would generally concur that our football was entertaining and that tempered the losses generally. The platitudes he received from other managers were all genuine in my view. A bland, predictable style of play will certainly make the defeats less bearable and attract far more criticism.

Clearly I want Eustace to do well and win lots of games but irrespective of how we play success will be a pipedream for us all with these owners.

Playing so called 'entertaining football' and losing, is still losing.

After watching us lose game after game, it didn't make me feel any better about it despite the fact that I watched snippets of pretty passing along the way.

Of course it is and winning games is the absolute priority irrespective of style. My point is that losing playing a more direct way will be tolerated a lot less that playing in a more entertaining way.

But to reiterate winning is the most important thing.

Tolerated for a short while longer, perhaps, but only when there's signs of improvement.

First and foremost, people pay money to see their team win. That's all they really care about.

Without a doubt.

Managers are primarily judged on results and we tanked after November. There might be some mitigating circumstances but I don't know anybody who could defend the results.

Some might say that's an exaggeration. Having contemplated for a while I think you're right.

The worst Rovers squad in living memory, take a bow Venkys you utter shitebags.

The worst squad was the Coyle season for a host of reasons but i'd say this is the weakest but not the worst.

Weakest because of rapid over reliance on cheap youth filling up a squad that has lost a lot of good players in a very short space of time.

All this is due to chronic under investment leading to poor recruitment and a slashed wage bill killing any and every ounce of progress made in the last 2 years.

Every last bit of that is directly and indirectly at the door of the chancers running the club and the ownership in India.

Depends how old you are. The side which went down under John Pickering was pretty weak.

there was a plan b last season, this one though, with the lack of any money to spend, jdt gave up and just went through the motions, seems to happen with the indians ,if the manager looks  like building a decent side he gets his budget cut
