No manager there since the new owner bought the club has had any sort of stability. 7 managers in 6 years I think it is. Martinez, Koeman, Allardyce, Silva, Ancelotti, Benitez and Lampard. So I will asked how can you have any sort of stability with this sort of hire and fire policy?

But giving a poor manager stability regardless of results is not a recipe for success.

That where our opinions on Lampard are different. The players are playing for him. Buy in a quality striker in January and get rid of some squad players who aren't good enough move out.

If they are then his tactical ability is really poor based on their results.

I think if given time Potter will do well. And I’d encourage that as he’s the ‘next generation’ of British manager, so I’d like to see him do well. 

I don’t suspect he will get it though. The new owners seem to be pretty hectic and ambitious. They’re desperate for a striker, Toney would be a superb buy for them.

Personally, I think Chelsea's time at the top table is coming to an end. They've had a good 20 year run at it, but I think this could be the start of their slide down to 7th/8th place finishes.

We know as much as anybody how important it is to have an owner who gets it. Whether people liked Abramovic or not, and I'm not a fan, he was fierce in regards to winning, he actually cared about Chelsea and showed a ruthless side on many occasions. That's a major part of why they have had so much success since 2003. I don't think it's a coincidence they are falling away now that he has departed from the club.

This Boehly fella comes across as naive, excitable and is throwing money around willy nilly without any sort of plan, by the looks of it. He has already had his pants pulled down a couple of times in regards to signings. He also has the perfect manager in place too, IMO, to have them close to mid table. I'll enjoy seeing it all unfold anyway, as I still haven't got over the fact that it was this lot that took Duffer off us.

I thought that lad Fofana looked a handful up front when he came on late in the second half. Players were bouncing off him.

Try as I might I can't even get a glimmer of satisfaction from Chelsea's potential decline. The PL is just so soulless... utterly empty and devoid of any true value as a competition, unless you really enjoy billionaires using sports teams to amuse themselves and/or sportswash a regime or two. 

The Championship may be a significant drop in quality but, for now at least, it still feels like football in a form I recognise. Perhaps not for too much longer considering the increasing power of clubs coming down with parachute money, but the only way I could even feign an interest in the PL now is if Rovers were in it. Even then I am really not sure how I'd feel about it. It's obviously critical to the club in a financial sense to get promoted, but I know it won't be the same as it was the last couple of times we were there.

I think I heard the commentator say he's a boyhood Chelsea fan due to watching Drogba. They certainly need him to provide them with a fresh spark. There aren't many goals in their frontline as it stands.

Havertz and Pulisic are goal shy, Sterling has been disappointing and Aubameyang looks like he doesn't want to be there. I can't see them challenging for trophies like they used to in years gone by.

They never seem to get any flak for buying their way to the title. Funny that.

At this point it'd just mean that Newcastle win the PL every season, so I don't think it'd help much. Best case scenario a few of the traditionally upper-middle PL teams end up with big foreign investment and we're back to where we started with a handful of teams competing and the rest existing.

I must agree the wild inflation in player fees makes it hard to watch a game without feeling queasy. You might add the wild hypocrisy about keeping politics out of sport when silence is political affirmation of the status quo.

Watching City and Chelsea, there seems nothing much to enjoy. Possession football can be inventive and gripping, best exemplified by the dominant Barcelona and Spain sides. But apart from some really nice crossfield passes and occasional quick interchanges, City's play seemed languid and conservative, with skilful players inhibited somewhat.

That said, it was a one-sides contest, so maybe there waa no need to exert themselves.

I don't see this Super League idea coming back any time so after the fans reaction and the media reaction to the idea has put the top 6 owners and management off the idea. Plus Klopp and Guardiola are against the idea aswell. Its all 3 clubs who want it to happen cos all 3 clubs are in massive debt and need massive money

My view would obviously change should we ever get back there, but I have next to no interest in the Premier League. It's just a shopping competition between the mega rich and their play things.

Outside of watching the Rovers, I get my football fix watching La Liga. The error strewn Athletico/Barca game last night was quite exciting.

Besiktas want to cancel Deli Alli loan after hardly playing for them. Everton dont want him back. Amazing how quickly one of the countrys most talented youngsters has fallen into obscurity. Still only 26. 

Suspect lots of money too early and who else knows what pressures come with that have caused him to loose his appetite for the game.
