We needed a striker in January, everyone knows that - they tried to get two and failed on both.

I'd love to know what kind of loan fees they're paying for Archer / Ramsey et al. I'd dead set against pumping your side full of loanees unless they're definitely going to take you over the top to the PL. It's like paying rent instead of a mortgage.

I would imagine the loan fees are similar to what we paid for Hirst and are paying for Morton. Our of curiosity I wonder what we are paying for Mola.

Doubtful - they were last-minute deals and will be for peanuts.

Archer won't have been cheap - he's already scored 15+ goals in the Championship as a 20 year old.

Norwich goal difference taking a battering here. 5-1

Blow for Norwich coming away from Boro with nothing. But with their remaining games you'd expect them to reach 70 points. Their remaining games are QPR (a), Swans (h), WBA (a) then B'pool (h).

Morton from Liverpool for peanuts? I don't think that will be the case. Irrespective it's about delivering the goods which Archer and Ramsey have done. So for Middlesbrough it's money well spent as it looks like getting them into the playoffs.

Archer was at Preston last season and they have no money so unless Villa have suddenly jacked up his loan fee this season Boro wont have paid more than we are for our loan duds.

Hindsight is a great thing, All loans are a risk, some you win, some you lose.

It's what you need to climb out of this league if you haven't spent millions on players - hungry recuits who are looking to put themselves in the shop window. There is a glut of talent in the Premier League that can't get a game despite having the ability. Our scouting team need to gen up on the out of limelight player pool and tap some shoulders way ahead of any transfer season in the summer.

You mitigate the risk a lot by loaning in players who are ready to ply their trade rather than learn their trade. More in the Sorba mould than the Mola one is what we need going forward.

Boro got a player with scoring pedigree in the Championship while we picked a player who had scored a few in the league below but had failed in the Championship so sometimes you get what you pay for.

It's Morton's first loan, they won't have asked for much. Archer is a proven commodity at this point.

Not so sure about that. They couldn't beat Rotherham at home.

Two of Middlesbrough's goals tonight have been scored by loanees. How many goals have our loan players contributed again?

The system annoys me. Loans are important but I think there should be a lower limit on the amount. 3 maximum. There are a few sides playing 4 or 5 loanees per game. The form of the likes of Boro and Stoke are no coincidence when they've packed their sides with loans, many of which were brought in January.

I know we could in theory do the same, but I'm just a bitter man 😂

He signed a new contract in the summer and therefore his wages contribution for the nobbers became too much.  They could easily afford the contribution on his previous wages.  Bad timing for the nobbers and Boro have the coin to do the deal.
